New 2D Earthworm Jim Game Could Be Coming

David Perry, who founded Earthworm Jim creator Shiny Entertainment, has revealed that he and a few of his colleagues are in the process of working out how to go about bringing a brand new Earthworm Jim game to consoles. Perry says that its earlier days yet, but he has thought about the storyline and the character model. Would you like to see a new Earthworm Jim game?

“The thing we had talked about in the past is Jim had been in retirement. So, he’s been sitting at home watching movies and eating popcorn. He’s grossly overweight now. The plan was to start with him literally getting off the sofa, and it’s a disaster because he just hasn’t done anything since. But he’s got to get back into action again.”

“There’s an interesting tension between Doug and myself. When he started to draw the new Earthworm Jim, if I showed you the sketches of what he wanted the next Earthworm Jim to look like, I can guarantee you’d go, no! Don’t go that way! Because he’s going wimpy. My job I to fight him on that. No, don’t go wimpy. We don’t want wimpy.”

“The answer is, I would do 2D, but if you wanted you could play with the camera a little. But I don’t like it when you’re doing very 3D, because then your jumps become very hard to predict and then your controller starts breaking. It wouldn’t be fun.”

    1. Hell yeah. We need a new, good Earthworm Jim game! Specially after the 3D game on the n64 sucked a lot.

  2. The last sentence of his speech bothers me a bit.
It makes him look as if 3D play is something new…:p

  3. No please, no easier.
I think that’s the problem with most games today, the bosses are too easy.
What happened to the “master the game” attitude?
Most people today seem only to want to finish a game as fast as possible and then “next” ;p
But EJ would be a n8ce nostalgia trip though :)

    1. I too did not like earth worm Jim. As a Nintendo fan I preferred Toe Jam and Earl. Now that was classic. Turtles 1,2,3 and 4 to be made by the same company or their children that made the originals. Maybe retro or Ubisoft.
