Earthbound creator Shigesato Itoi has told a fan via Twitter that there’s no chance we will see Mother 4. Itoi told the fan on Twitter that it is “impossible”, which clearly means that it’s never going to happen. Thankfully a bunch of Earthbound fans are working on a fan-made Mother 4 project that has been in development for several years. You can check out their progress, right here.
“Mr. Itoi, please think about a way to make Mother 4.” Itoi’s response? “Muri” (無理) or “impossible”

To me it’s never been a thing about the storyline “not making sense”. Having a semblance of a story that corroborates all 3 games into one epic conclusion would be just too of an immense undertaking for Itoi-san to take. I personally feel though that a culmination of all three in the form of a dimensional paradox taking place around the time of Giygas’ dissolution into insanity would have made for a great number 4

Nintendo are wierd when it comes using certain Franchises over and over (mainly Mario) and then abandoning and neglecting some. It’s frustrating. F-zero Should have a Game on every console that comes out. So should Starfox.

An fzero in this wii u drought would have been perfect but knowing nintendo they wouldnt promote it or they will release a bigger title a few weeks before fzero and then act like it doesnt exsist.
They always come out and say something stupid or completely contradictory , like ”why would you want a new F-zero , what could we add that we couln’t before” Duh , fucking Online , better graphics , etc etc etc etc.
Then they release NSMBU and NSMB2 in the same year :/

Let me make my own conclusion: TW101 will be so much fun you are going to wear out your Wii U GamePad. You will have plenty of fun playing it for the first time, and just as much fun playing it over and over again. Actually, the Wii U GamePad is pretty sturdy, so you probably won’t wear it out… And I’m sorry I can’t explain to you in exact terms why I think you will have so much fun with TW101.
I promise there will be plenty of news about the game in the days and weeks to come. But I will say this – Everyone here is working incredibly hard to make sure you say two things about TW101. One: I’m happy I bought a Wii U! — Two: I’m happy I bought The Wonderful 101!

That clears things up :) . The graphics and art style of this game are shaping up extremely well also , the Characters are indredibly detailed and look like little pixar characters ^_^
To be fair, what he said was it is impossible for him to make a Mother 4. Didn’t he also say that he was open to someone else making mother 4 so he could play it as an outsider?
I guess that’s the root of all this. Even those who knew Itoi had no plan to continue the series will hold out hope for some other developer to take the reins. I say just leave it at 3, as it’s already such a great ending and a product of the visionary behind it.
Yeah, I guess people are just worried that others can’t make one as good Itoi can. But hey, we’ll see what happens.

People, he said the series is done, and this yet again proves that he still has no intention of continuing the series and is moving on. I suggest we all do the same.
For people like me who’ve never played Earthbound/Mother and for those who have experienced it and think its great, I’d like it if they did update/remake the ip for this newer generation. If not him, someone else at Nintendo.

I’d rather not have someone else do the writing for a new Mother game tbh. It takes someone VERY special to make something like Mother. I’m obviously going to give Mother 4 a chance when it’s released, but I’m doubting that it’ll be the same.

If they realease a 3 Pack for the 3ds it will sell a lot of copies. Then they will announce Mother 4 quicker than we blink.
