Flipnote Studio 3D finally has an official date, and it’s coming to the Nintendo 3DS on July 3, for Japan at least. It’s been teased to us previously as a ‘summer’ release, but now that Japan has an official date – revealed by Cheesemeister earlier on Twitter – a Western date can’t be that much further afield. Flipnote Studio 3D will be available to download for free on the eShop and will come with improved features, such as six different colours for short animations, three-layered 3D effects, as well as allowing you to transfer your old animations from the predecessor. Will you be picking this up when it comes to the eShop?

Definitely! I never had the original Flipnote software (i had a DS Lite but no DSi), but i don’t want to miss out on this.

I read somewhere that they did rezilae that they went too far in trying to make an online service that was safe for kids. I think we might see something like the 3DS, which has a single Friend Code for the system rather than a different one for each game.
