The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past successor will be getting a boot up the frame rate scale, according to series producer Eiji Aonuma. The game has already been in the making since 2011 for the Nintendo 3DS and, instead of running at the normal 30 frames per second, the successor will kick-start at 60 frames per second in 3D.
In the latest issue of EGDE, Aonuma has stressed the importance of creating a game with a high frame rate – especially when it comes to 3D – and has confirmed that players will not be forced to use the 3D for the completion of a puzzle. Here’s what he had to say:
“The game runs at 60FPS, while all the 3D games up till now have run at 30FPS. The faster the framerate, the more stable the 3D effect, so 60FPS is a big deal. There are players who don’t like 3D and always keep it switched off, so there’s nothing in the game that absolutely requires 3D, like puzzles that can’t be solved without it.”

Just because a game is great does not mean it sells even in nintendo case. The game looks good and if its anything like uncharted and its going to be good but it won’t be a seller on the lines of mario kart or pokemon. The game that sells the most on playstation is Gran Turismo. Uncharted 1-3 has only sold 9-10 millon total so the last of us will sell a crap ton probably 2-3 million maybe in its first few years

Was gunna say the same , i remember them confirming MK7 to be 3D. Not only that but Tekken Prime does also (remember the advert ”60FPS in 3D???!!!!!!”) I’ve seen other 3DS games run at much higher framerates than 30 with my own eyes also. Luigi’s mansion 2 seems much smoother than 30 at times….

The only thing I hated about Fire Emblem Awakening was the framerate, especially during the attack scenes.

If you’re like me and barely notice the difference in frame rate apart from when some games (not necessarily on 3DS) drop below 24 then this doesn’t rally concern me, just as long as the 3D works like any other 3DS game I’m good. I don’t know why people complain about the 3D on the 3DS, I use it all the time.
3D is bad with motion controls (driving in Mario Kart 7), drains the battery, and hurts your eyes in the car (moving car moves your head and 3DS so your eyes aren’t aligned properly –> hurts eyes and head).
Don’t get me wrong, I use the 3D whenever I can and am not tired, and I love it. Also, 2D on the 3DS is bad. The colours and graphics lose half their quality.

60fps can be hard to achieve, twice as demanding as 30fps so most games opt for better graphics and a lower framerate.

This is honestly why I haven’t played the Prime Trilogy yet and is what I’ve been waiting for. The trilogy goes for $90 used on Amazon, and hundreds for a new one. It’s critically acclaimed and has no reason NOT to get a remake.

Or do they mean it’s 30 frames a second for each eye, adding up to 60 frames a second? It’s hard to know since it’s not explained in the article.
When playing a Zelda game Aounuma am not looking at whether the game is at 30 frames or 60 frames per second, am more concerned about where the key is to the dungeon map or the Boomerang. With a stelfoe on my back I would prefer those frigate critters moving slower at 30fps, them moving at butter smooth 60fps makes it hard for players to kill them lol.
Is 60 FPS is a big deal? Unless you are on the PC that run anything it want. What I mean is that most PC gamers aim for 120 FPS because if something run in the background then it will drop the frame per second rate.
I set it at 30 FPS but I realize the game just randomly run any FPS. So I set it at 60 FPS and some games are acceptable with this setting. But other still drop below 30 FPS so I decide to put up the highest FPS setting it can on PC.
I can’t notice the different between 60 FPS and over 60 FPS. I can somewhat notice the different between 30 FPS and 60 FPS.

Well it is a 2D Zelda game. Most 2D Zelda games look dull but sometime actually fun to play. It is like searching for flash games and it look like a dumb game but you end up playing for countless hours.

I hope this Zelda: A Link To The Past Successor lives up to the awesome Super NES original. That game was AMAZING! It was the first Zelda game that got me interested and hooked in the Zelda series. Had some very special moments and memories playing that game.
