2K Sports has announced that its latest basketball video game will not be coming to Wii U. Jason Argent, senior vice president of sports operations for 2K Sports, has confirmed that there will be no Wii U version of NBA 2K14, because the publisher “didn’t want to take resources away from building on the other platforms.” The game will be released on October 1st for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and it will be a launch title for next-generation consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The last installment of the series, NBA 2K13, was a launch title for Wii U.
Last month, EA revealed its latest basketball video game, titled NBA Live 2014, and confirmed that it will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

this is the ignorance that wii u faces… developers hating the system because nintendo supports used games, supports not always being connected, supports a tablet controller, supports gamers and not greedy developers. developers are going to get killed this gen because of their greed. i do not support pirates, but developers\ publishers like this need to be hacked and decoded because, it is nonsense.
To me it makes sense to not want to develop a touch screen interface for the pad, when you haven’t done it before. Why would it be game developers immediate interest to make touch screen games just because a small fraction of the market will support your work (buying the game)?
U don’t have to develop. A touchscreen control for the wii u. If you don’t want to be creative, just add off screen play capability and straight port the rest. THAT’S ALL.

I am kinda hoping that going happen. XD But on the serious note, I think it might be a good fit on Xbox One. Since a lot of people owned PS3 and Xbox 360 just for Call of Duty and sport games. I can see Xbox One selling well to the market even know it is not aim at gamers in generally. I mean they all watch sports on TV and play games once a week. I can see why Xbox One is more like VCR or PVR.
To be honest, I really can’t see it doing very well at all. Pretty much everyone I know who plays video games is waiting for the price of the PS4 before making the decision between that and the Wii U because they’ve been put off by all of the crap that comes along with the Xbone.

I play basketball 3x a week. So telling me to play “real” basketball misses the point im trying to drive at entirely. Games skipping the Wii U is a problem. The wii before catered more to everyones tastes. We had soccer, basketball,wrestling, fps, a few but good hard core games and awesome exclusives. Wii U is getting skipped left right and center. We are even gettung shortchanged on ports and dlc. It is a problem that Nintendo has to address. Wake up people.

On neogaf a topic that was in my mind has sprung up. Western third parties are not releasing games on the Wii U because Nintendo refuses to add DRM to games to be released on their console. Xbox one policy on DRM, used games and trade in, 24 hr connection to the internet has been revealed. Nintendo is a video gamers hope as always. Morons that will buy a xboxone are the dumbest morons ever to walk this planet.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if 3rd party developers gave Nintendo equal games, more gamers would’ve purchased the system already without 1st party titles being ready. In fact, I feel many gamers would have Wii U as their only console.

The gaming industry is pretty much going in circles. Back in the 80’s, people only wanted the games and as times gone on, people have wanted other entertainment as well, but now that there’s almost more focus on the entertainment, people only really want the games again. That’s why Nintendo will outlast both Microsoft and Sony in terms of consoles.

I think the gamepad has a accelerometer in it, could use the gamepad to determine how your players hold/throw the ball, could make som interesting gameplay. . . just dont throw the gamepad.

Yeah I think you’re right. The obvious reason why they won’t make games on Wii U is because the Wii U doesn’t have any DRM at all. Really these developers are really starting to be money whores right now. The gamer bought the game so he/she should do what he/she wants with it! Nintendo Wii U will have an install base of 6-8 million by the time NBA 2K14 is released. What if Xbox One and PS4 are overpriced and fail to impress the consumers?
You feel the world shift weight will all the 3rd party studios running back to Nintendo. We the gamers need to show in the stores that 3rd parties don’t dictate things, WE DO. I’m personally boycotting any and every distributor that passes up the Wii U and supporting all developers that are making Wii U games. Not just just watered-down ports either. I mean REAL Wii U games.

Well looks like 2k lost my money. I will not buy it on the PS3 nor the Xbox 360 nor the PS4 nor the Xbox One. Exclusives are fine but when companies are doing things like this, I will not support their games. EA already losing my small amount of 180 dollars, since I won’t buy the new Madden 25, NBA Live 14, or FIFA 14. I have been buying those games since they first came out every year. 2K will not receive any money from me now. I might not even buy GTA V. Missing games will not bother me because there are always games to play that I like and will support those companies. It looks like the money that I will be saving on those games will be going to Ubisoft. The winner in this deal is Ubisoft and myself. For the record, I am not mad that they are doing this. I just don’t support companies that think people should be left out of there enjoyment due to their basis reactions.

Doesn’t the Gamepad open up for several opportunities when it come to manage the team? I mean you could come up with your own tactics and formations, and just point out the players positions on the Gamepad screen. It must suck to be dev at 2K if you actually cares for the sports games they develop, not to be able to take advantage of the new consoles innovations.
