Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed during the E3 analyst briefing that the company acknowledges that Nintendo Land has failed to attract consumers to Wii U. Iwata said that Nintendo Land hasn’t fulfilled the same role as Wii Sports – which consumers flocked to play and subsequently purchased a Wii back in 2006. Iwata did say that Nintendo is going to release a variety of Wii U software which shows off how convenient and delightful it is to have the Wii U GamePad controller, and how it changes the gaming experience.
“Asymmetric gameplay” is one of the important elements which differentiate Wii U from other products. Thus, we have released “Nintendo Land” as the software to make consumers understand the value of asymmetric gameplay. In the United States, we bundled it with the Wii U “Deluxe Set” which is a higher-end model equipped with 32GB of memory. We have received a lot of comments from consumers that the gameplay in “Nintendo Land” is interesting. However, we presume that they have not yet come up with the best words to easily explain how interesting it is to other people.”

My son and I sink countless hours a week in2 this game its fabulous. The graphics were actually nice! 60FPS 720p AA , and some really nice textures and lighting.
Graphics wasn’t the issue. The Game ironically is a lot better than Wii sports , it just didn’t grab everyones attention like that did. They should of released Wii sports U with Wiiu. Not Nintendo Land , that was an unnecessary risk.

I really don’t think anyone is going to buy this box…. between Sony and Microsoft, I would choose PC, personally..
We already know the M$ system is garbage, but I cannot believe Sony would start charging for online multiplayer… utter and complete crap. And not a single Sony exclusive will run in 60fps.,.. wth, last gen most titles were 22fps (TLOU, U1/U2/U3, etc) and it seems Sony is determined to repeat the last generation all over again with slideshow frame rates.
PC/Wii U will feature free online multiplayer and 60fps in the vast majority of games.
I agree about the graphics, super smooth and some of it looked really good. Wii Sports U is a game that they really should have in development, improve the best sports from the two previous games and add new functions to the gamepad. Fun stuff like a ‘hawkeye’ camera playback on the pad if a player objected to a line call.

Not even Wii Sports U could ahve the Nintendo Scam TitanicU. would have been better off making a GameCube 2 or an entrilenly new console. The only people Wii U appeals to is hardcore nintendo fans and the number of those is dwindling.

Wii sports is the most popular Video game ever made. I know it’s a pack in , but it wasn’t in Japan and the fact is 80 million different Wii owners played Wii sports.
Wii sports Resort was also a phenomenon selling over 20 million being bundled with Mii motion plus.
I can safely say , Wii sports U would be another very very high selling game with the right upgrades. 10-30 Million units easy.

ON line multiplayer would had done the trick for that game, but you had been dropping the ball with your lack of support for the online functions of your games.
Nintendo Land is fun, no, it did not fill the same role as Wii Sports. That doesn’t mean it was a failure in any sense though. I think Game & Wario might get a little closer though.
Atleast the 32GB Wii U comes bundled with Nintendo Land, it should do better in the Holiday season. I would also bundle it with New Super Mario Bros. U and enough money to Download New Super Luigi U, also make a discount on one of the following games when you buy said Bundle (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD or Super Mario 3D World).
And Pikmin 3 along with the other 3 on discount.

I have Nintendoland that came with my black Wii U and I played it the first 2 days back in November last year while I waited to get Zombi U (they didn’t have Zombi U at the store when I bought my Wii U). I haven’t played it since (that makes it over 6 months ago that I haven’t even touched that game). Doesn’t appeal to me, not interested.
Well, maybe not, but Nintendo Land is a success in my eyes. Far more replay value than Wii Sports.
I honestly liked it. For me it did both show off the Gamepad’s capabilities and provide a fun multiplayer experience. I just felt like it was limited somehow, like no online or a kinda small number of attractions. But it was still pretty damn fun.
It is excellent game. One of best soundtracks ever. Really good graphics for a starter My kid has finished it and it was great 2 months experience. He is playing VS Metroid game now with neighbour and they are trolling each other with pleasure. Easy to start, EXTREMELY hard to finish. Maybe not enough sparks and whistles, but lots of great small gameplay. Wish there was DLC for that, really.
The Nintendo land is not the main issue here, but the idea behind sticking a second screen to a console gaming experience and abandon the motion controls. Gaming should remain simple. Motion controls introduced by the Wii are amazing – those who played Metroid Prime Corruption on Wii certainly know what I am talking about. Yesterday I was trying to play RE: Revelations using the GamePad, and I’ve been caught in a situation in which I thought “man, this is almost unplayable using analog controls, but this game would be amazing with Wii Remote + Nunchuck”.
I share the idea of the Wii Remote Plus & Nunchuk being far superior to the Gamepad in pure gameplay experience. That being said, the Gamepad still offer some great innovation but man I remember being all hyped to play Wii Sports***

My lord Iwata, demonstrating and most of all marketing the game in a proper way should have been a top priority…

It’s all too confusing. The title doesn’t tell you what the game is and the name of the console itself makes it sound like an add on instead of something new. The interface of Nintendoland is weird — it’s clunky trying to switch from game to game. It’s clunky trying to figure what your role is depending on which controller you have.
These problems probably wouldn’t exist if Nintendo just did a bigger/better press events to explain and demonstrate.

I have to admit that I was anxious to get a WiiU, but not for Nintendoland. It really didn’t interest me as much as Wii Sports interested me in the Wii. I didn’t buy the Wii for the Sports, but it was definitely a factor in how quickly I wanted to buy it. Nintendoland had no imapct on my buying the U at all.

I bought my Wii U today, the game is fine, I’ll probably play it a lot more than the Wii sports games. I only played those 2-3 hours each the first day I got the first Wii console.
yep. played n-land once and haven’t played it again since, but I’ve played wii sports multiple times.
The thing is the local multiplayer was fun in Nintendoland but the single player mini games I am not so fond of. And I think most of the others who tried it as well.

I only played it a few short moments and never wanted to play it again. I would have more fun playing Chicken Blaster, Pirate Blast or Action Girlz Racing than Wii Sports. And that’s saying a LOT.
They can still bundle Game & Wario on the Premium Wii U instead of NL.
