Nintendo stock has jumped four percent which is the highest level in almost two years. The stock has risen due to the influx of new video game titles which are boosting overseas revenue. High profile titles such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf made the Nintendo 3DS the best-selling video game device in the United States in June. A report which states that China may be lifting the ban on consoles has also caused stock to rise. The NPD group said last week that Nintendo had sold 225,000 of its 3DS handheld consoles in the U.S.
“The stock is up from mixing all these factors. The stock is in a upward trend. There may be some investors who are forced to buy back the shares.”
– Takashi Oba, a senior strategist at Okasan Securities Co.

I would just like to point out though, that nintendo’s stock increase of 4.5 isnt too major, if you take into consideration the fact that their stock is mainly falling, since the end of 2011, with small jumps occasionally of course, which MNN may have reported.
With the release of pikmin and the success oft the glorious N3DS, i would charachterize the rise “normally expected”. Keep in mind that sonys stock price has been lower than nintendo’s before ps4, and now has surpassed it ninty-17 sony-22. Now im not flaming a war or anything, but even though this news might sparkle to some, i just have to say that stock prices always have ups and downs, which are hardly predictable to a high level
As an “investor”, this makes me smile a bit, as i was looking forward to this day and more days like these
As a gamer, unless it greatly affects a company, stock prices are irrelevant to me, and i believe ninty is able to handle them effectively, without me worried about it

Not really. China is still a developing country and is VERY poor. Not to mention they’re not going to buy them because most likely they’ll be more expensive there than US or Europe. Imported goods can be twice the cost in China. And on top of that, no one would bother because they can just copy the games and play it on their own.

Great news has been with nintendo this whole year might I add. Remember that even in the off month of February and may nintendo stock points jumped by 9 and then 2.2 respectively. The brilliance of the 3DS is that it is the leading next generation console. With games and not just mundane repetitive FPS galore.

Commander, while I agree with most of the things you say, I don´t understand why you speak of an empire. Nintendo = quality. Like in everything else in life the majority doesn´t reach that point of understanding so I don´t really care if Nintendo sells less as long as they keep making games and consoles to play them. but that does make us a part of the greatest corporation ever, Nintendo live for the players not on the players like Sony and Xcocks, Nintendo did not pry on us for money money money, updates such as DLC will cost money but Nintendo will always give us a freebie, plus Nintendo keep us in the loop with the Directs and such, plus when Nintendo seldomly make an error you can count on them to fix it
