Call Of Duty Ghosts executive producer Mark Rubin has explained that the company isn’t prepared to jump on the next technology bandwagon that EA have with Battlefield 4. Rubin also compared the popular series to sports, saying that you can’t change the rules too much. Many fans are clamouring for the company to utilise a new graphics engine, but Rubin seems to think if it isn’t broke, why fix it?
“So you know, as a company in general, we don’t want to jump onto the tech bandwagon too early. We’re a little bit more conservative with that kind of thing. There is some cool new tech, but some of it we can’t talk about because we are not talking multiplayer yet”.
“You watch sports every year, but if you changed the rules dramatically of a sport every year who would watch that? I don’t think you would have as many people watching the sport. Like if soccer/football were all the sudden to switch from ‘OK you can’t use your feet, you have to use your hands’ Who’d watch that really?”

What a stupid fucking thing to say.
There is a sport that you play with your hands, idiot. It’s called basketball. Or team handball.
There are more than one. What a waste of an analogy.
Both those sports are shit in comparison to football though… You go from 90mins of action to approx 15. He has a good point, id rather new maps than the same maps with different rules
Football or (American pussyfied rugby ) ?
Very good point made by them…. surprisingly
Ok couldn’t keep a stright face HAHAHAHAHAHA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nesTpH6DpQA
Good point? Sports are free, games cost 60 dollars yearly…
No, This is just being Lazy. Why can’t you make it better than before!
“You Can’t Change The Rules Too Much”
…
That’s what she said.
Yea god forbid they would do something new
They will when people stop buying their product. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem very likely.
Videogames aren’t sports, we embrace and expect change.
“We don’t want to jump on the tech bandwagon too early”
Translates to – “We’ve gotten really lazy creating the same game year after year for the past console generation so now that the new one is here we don’t have a damn clue what to do”
Or, they just didn’t want to advance so fast that they were forced to leave older systems behind in their plans of what to bring the game to.
This invalid comparison of video game iterations to sports is obviously a veiled excuse for making the same game repeatedly.
No shit otherwise you’ll get death threats from 12 year olds
I would like to say… This is good for the WiiU… If they continue using the same HD engine, there is less of a gap between WiiU and the others… Blessing in disguise?
Agreed.
The blessing is that Activision have said something wise. I am stunned.
COD producer speaking words of wisdom. This year just keeps getting weirder. Next thing you know, Metroid Prime 4 is announced for a December release on the WiiU.
I must nitpick: How could there be a fourth Metroid Prime? The third very clearly shut the book. Even if you could make something of that unidentified ship at the end, it wouldn’t be part of Metroid Prime anymore, as Phaaze, and subsequently all Phazon, have been destroyed.
A game that takes place after Corruption would make sense. The secret ending to Corruption had a spaceship following Samus. It wouldn’t be called Prime 4 though.
Metroid Other M is a great game screw you, IGN was right to give it 8.5 it desrves it. I peayld Metroid Other M myself and the only real thing I have aganist it is the potrail of samus ( which in my opinion isn’t that bad) and needing authorization to use abilitys instead of looking for them and gaining them. You haters need to shut the hell up Metroid Other M is a great and entertaining game, but thanks to you haters and G4 its not selling as well as it should.
Bro, calm your tits
We didn’t even mention Other M.
The same way there is a halo 4.
We assume as much, but if all phazon is dead, then Dark Samus wouldn’t have pursued Samus in that ship of hers.
The fact that it’s DS’s theme song playing during that scene should be more than enough evidence.
Besides, destroying the source would hardly be a guarantee of destroying every last trace.
Think of all the stories in past literary works where they’ve SAID in a previous entry that something, be it a group of objects or a race of people or something, have been entirely destroyed, only for a new one of those things/people to pop up and reintroduce them.
Same thing could be true of Phazon, especially if Dark Samus still lives.
1- he is right about sports
2- fps cant change the core mechanics becuase you can only do so much in a first person view.
3- EA upgraded tech?? Didnt you just make a new tech engine???
4- I love Zelda, but if zeldas core mechanic was tweaked with, I would be upset.
He has some good/bad points, but Im happy this will be on the WiiU
Zelda is tweaked with a lot. Did you play Skyward Sword?
Activision > EA ……….. Not in terms of CoD or BF.
i don’t get it but rules are rules.
cool…and wise.
The difference between CoD:BO II and CoD Ghosts is like Rugby League and Rugby Union, not Rugby League and Rugby League. If people preferred one game to another, they’d stay on that game and NOT move onto the newer one.
garbage will still be garbage no matter how polished it is.
Opinions will be opinions no matter how hard you want them to be facts.
It is a fact.
Opinions will be opinions no matter how hard you want them to be facts.
Credit where credit is due, it is a pretty valid point.
I wouldn’t bat an eyelid to this normally, but it isn’t just about graphics and pure horsepower. The Wii proved that, and the DS proved that. If the PS4 and XO get off to really bad starts, then arguably the PS3 and 360 will have also proved the point.
Common sense in the industry: “Who’d have thunk it?”
No matter what so called clever excuse and analogy they spit out to justify Ghost in threat of Battlefield 4, I still don’t care. After BO2 Wii U’s lies of its lack of support (DLC) and IW’s hot mess that is MW3, I give up COD for good despite if these developers finally figured it out and fix the damn game’s problems plus aiming it for adults and not spoiled, dysfunctional kids. Too late to win my already dead interests in COD.
So you preferred ea lies?
lol except people can watch sports for free and do not need to drop 60 bucks…
Not true it cost money for cable or Internet. It’s also not free to see a pro game in person. Keep watching your free little league games if that’s what satisfies you.
Call Of Duty Ghosts Producer Says “We can’t release a new engine because if we do, nobody will buy the PS4 or XBox One version ’cause they’ll look the same as the current generation versions!”
I guess he has never followed Formula 1. Changing the rules for every season and people are still watching it!
Why do people bitch about CoD? So what if its the same game every year, if you don’t like it then don’t buy it (Knowing some of the people who say its shit will end up buying it anyway). I’m not a huge fan of CoD but I find it to be fun and its arcade style gameplay is really good. I can’t wait to get my hands on Ghosts for the PS4.

Well whats the point buyin cod ghosts then? I already have my Black ops 2 with the same rules and zombie mode which makes it superior.
I’d like to watch a reverse soccer game. That would be quite funny.
