Platinum Games has revealed that the highly anticipated Wonderful 101 for Wii U will allow players the option of three difficulty levels at the onset of the game: Easy, Very Easy, and Normal. All three modes will grant the player infinite continues, retaining all damage inflicted upon a boss even after the player respawns. The Easy and Very Easy modes will be distinguished by the ability to perform multi-hit combos with the press of a single button, much like Super Street Fighter 4 on 3DS, or PG’s own Bayonetta.
One-button combos have drawn the ire of some gamers who believe they reduce the difficulty of games to an unacceptable level, while others argue the feature can make a game more accessible. Nintendo fans will be able to try out The Wonderful 101’s unique function for themselves when the game releases on September 15th in North America, and later this month in Europe. In the meantime, gamers can enjoy a demo of The Wonderful 101 in the Wii U’s eShop.
First
I was expecting a hard mode and OMG hard mode but i guess very easy is easy, easy is normal, and normal is hard
There probably will be a hard mode post-first playthrough or something. Notice that it says “at the onset”, meaning you start with only three rather than there are only three.
A lot of games don’t have a hard mode or impossible mode until after the first playthrough under a certain condition, usually the latter.
I think so too. I mean, look at the placement of the difficulties in the menu; they’re crammed together as if there would be 1-2 additional options.
I honestly expected more. There only being Very Easy, Easy, and Normal makes it seem, and I really hate to say it, Casual.
It gets much more harder later in the game from what’ve read, it may seem easy with the infinite continues but that won’t get u pure platinum in the game
Clearly you haven’t played any Platinum Games, have you? Bayonetta, Vanquish and Rising….try em out, then go ahead and talk about difficulties =)
The games hard as it is on Easy.
Who said “only being”? The article says “at the onset”, meaning those are the three you start with.
….. Is this guy serious?
Does he even know who Platinum are?
Even Platinum’s normal difficultly is ruthless.
Trust me, mate. When you play a Platinum game on the harder difficulties you will be pining for the easy mode.
Casual from a Platinum Game? Casual from Kamiya? come on good sir, use your head.

HAHA, Loser!

Thank u.
this game looks to be a let down..
Uhh the demo was flippin’ amazing.
BAD ARTICLE NAME!
Did NO ONE READ?!
IT SAID “AT THE OUTSET”, MEANING THERE’S MORE DIFFICULTIES TO UNLOCK!
Sickr, Alba, WHOEVER DID THIS, YOU NEED TO CHANGE HOW THIS ARTICLE IS WORDED.
YOU’RE SPREADING MISINFORMATION WITH HEADERS LIKE THAT.
Exactly, more-so because platinum is KNOWN to make higher difficulty levels unlockable after you beat the game, further evidenced when kamiya said the second play through will be the “actual” game. Either people here have bad reading comprehension, has not followed wonderful 101 at all, or the article writer knows nothing about what he’s writing and just copy pasted a secondary source. Spreading misinformation does no good for a great game such as this.
Here here. Almost every game these days have unlockable difficulty levels post completion; and Platinum’s are particularly brutal. Gamers of all levels should feel satisfied by what this game will offer.
Actually there’s a Hard difficulty too and one above that. Says so in the “Bottle Cap” menu in the demo.
well that’ s good i was afraid this game would be 2 easy
No, it’s Platinum and Kamiya.
So does that forebode some Fire Emblem levels of ‘rip-your-hair-out’ time?
Maybe not that bad xD but definitely challenging.
Good job, now we have proof that there will be harder difficulty/ies.
Easy modes are great for inexperienced gamers. Believe it or not guys, we were just that at one time.
Children these days also have a shorter attention span, so in order to keep their interest, you have to allow them to progress without having to repeat the same areas of the game over and over again.
But I don’t expect these words to reach the ears of the elitist fuckhead gamers who are under the impression that every game should be tailor-made to their level of skill.
Truer words have never been more spoken. *applause*
Am still applauding your remarkable words. Gamers indeed have regressed in skill and patience :).
Evidence all around me as everybody who attacks me for no reason are impatient…
