    1. Indeed…

Our Japanese brethren have disappointed me…

Hopefully NA and EU buys more…

I personally can’t wait to play all these games like Pikmin 3, TW101, ZombiU etc etc…

      1. Well the theme of the game is something that better suits the western market in my opinion. To my knowledge superheroes and comic books aren’t as big in Japan but correct me if I’m wrong.

      2. Maybe so but I thought that “crazy” games like this one would appeal to them…

Maybe they are going soft over there…

    2. That is not a good start. Patch the game where there is a bonus mode that you can collect and recruit hidden smash characters all through out the game.

      1. No, Why not? If that will boost sales and encourage Platinum to make more awesome games for Wii U.

    3. “Nintendo should focus more on exciting new IP and give Mario a rest.”

I wonder if the people who say this get how wrong they are now.

(Yes, it is a Nintendo IP, don’t let Platinum being the developer fool you otherwise)

      1. New IPs are great.

The IP isn’t why this failed. It’s because the game sucks the big one.

      2. Nintendo needs to start focusing on online play. If Pikmin has online battle mode. people would be playing that everyday instead of completing it and moving to the next game.

Nintendo doesn’t understand what people really want and how to keep people hooked on their titles. There is a reason by COD is the top seller, people play that game almost all year until the next one. Because being online can continue to bring entertainment. Playing the story mode over and over. Come on…

Nintendo needs to wake up, its the 21 century. Move into it.

      3. What? How did you jump to that conclusion? Kevin is explaining that he thinks it would help Nintendo greatly to develop more titles that featured online play. Online play keeps players coming back and is a selling point . Kevin used Call of Duty as an example.

  1. To be fair, Wonderful 101 did come out on the 24th. Still, those are low sales.

And we wonder why Nintendo likes to mainly stay with known franchises and characters. *sigh*

      1. I’ve had it on reserve at GameStop for about 4 months now. Not played the demo because I hate demos but I have wanted to play this game since have first heard about it and have been more excited with every new piece of info on the game.

      2. Too bad you need sales in order to continue development on a specific franchise or a genre as a whole.
Enjoy the game for now because you will most likely never see a sequel or a similar approach on a Nintendo console.

    1. Nintendo payed them to create the IP and develop the game. Also, for some reason no company wants to publish Platinum games anymore.

    1. Sad, isn’t it? A dev goes out of their way to create something fresh and innovative, then gamers ignore it. That’s why this corporate gaming industry is becoming so stagnant. Such a cookie-cutter place now.

I’m going out of my way to support these type of titles FIRST before I even think about picking up any of the so-called “blockbuster” games that we get just about every year now.

Next on my list of games to pick up include Rayman Legends, Puppeteer, Wonderful 101, and some downloadable titles from indies.

Not only am I picking them up, but I have been trying to promote the heck out of them too. But I’m only one guy with limited resources. Hopefully more join in too.

  3. WTF? This game is awesome. I really believe that Japanese gamers are quitters who dont like challenge like Miyamoto said. This proves it.

    1. Well duh, why do you think the only things that sell are re-releases and sequels of games featuring either robots or monsters (or preferably, robot monsters)?

  4. Well most of platinum’s games never sell well in the UK or japan( except bayonetta) most major sells come from america

  5. The problem is… I haven’t even seen an ad on TV of this game (neither any other games like Pikmin 3. TLoZ:WW or Sonic Lost world) so, how will people know about new games if they don’t even appear on TV?

Damn, I feel bad for them.

    Like

    1. Well I have seen Pikmin 3 ads, and In North America TW101, TLoZ:WW, and Sonic Lost World, are still a ways away, and I don’t usually see ads for games until they are already released or about a week before the game’s release

  6. This game has to be one of the most amazing games i’ve played this year, this game deserves more then this. Great writing, great story and great characters, this game is easily my favorite game of 2013. Very attack packed and for those whining about wanting a hard game, this game will please them. For those looking for a 15 hour+ game, this is the game for you. .
    MY personal review
    9/10
I have a feeling that in the holiday season this game will rise :D or if bigger Youtuber’s play this, it’ll help the sells out a bunch.

    1. Agreed, it’s my personal game of the year so far.

And Two Best Friends will probably play it, which will probably sell 30,000 copies, unless anyone who watches it bought it already.

  7. Also i admit, Nintendo have to put Ads for their games on TV, i’ve noticed that Nintendo has been ad heavy on the internet. That’s all good but i feel TV ads help more since you are kinda forced to watch them while you watch your shows and etc.

  8. I just started to get the hang on this game.
Really helps if you learn to use the gamepad without having to look at the gamepads screen.
Though the extra menu buttons on gamepad are little bit annoying.

  9. its sad to see something thats brings new things to table, but its suddenlyw crushed by players who claim they don’t get these types of games. Its sad to see COD, GTA, Madden, and battlefield succeed when they offer the same crap last time and they get praised for it. The gamers of today wonder why the industry sucks today and it is because of those reasons

    1. True and they turn around and dis the system that made the other consoles…like Blackb0nd, katamari, pin wheel, Icezeama (though I’ve gotten used to him), XOXO, Donko (gotten somewhat used to him too), and many others. It’s as if they got their meanings backwards or afraid to play nintendo because of what their so called friends think so they feel better going along the group of pals and dis along side them. Pathetic if you ask me. Pathetic and sad…what they should do is open up and tell the truth. If they dis the person who was suppose to be friends are not your real friends. It’s as I said before…”True (hardcore) gamers play all”.

  10. HAHAHAHA How pathetic is that. I been telling the Nintendo babies about this but oh no, the insults fly all over the place for stating the truth. The only games that sell well on this excuse of a baby underpowered console are the baby games. They should have put Mario or Pokemon in it and the babies would be out in drones buying this game.
What game developer is going to want to take risks and try something new an innovative on the Wii U when they see sale figures like this. Pathetic is an understatement. Bring on the shovelware like they did with the Wii as obviously trying to innovate and bring something new to the gaming industry isn’t appreciated on Nintendo consoles. I thought the Nintendo fanboys told me that Nintendo fanboys value good gameplay the most (over graphics), but this game is supposed to be good and sells patheticaly on the console. Obviously it’s the baby games with Mario and Pokemon what they interested in.

  11. This is not even a great game. PRobably going to be the biggest fail game in 2013, this week sold 5000, next week 2000 more and done. same in europe and US and you will have a game that sold 100k in 5 years.
but did anybody really think that such weird game was going to increase Wii U sales?…lol

  12. Because this game is wack that’s why it didn’t sell, bring back earth bound, f-zero and other games that nintendo dropped. Mario is highly played out and is most like for 10yr olds and they need to make another zelda that isn’t easy skyward was to easy in my mind

  13. That’s just damning. Doesn’t look good for Bayonetta 2 in the future either.

  14. LOL , this game got a 39/40 from Famitsu and bombed that hard WOW

The gaming audience is just odd, they don’t want tooo many of something but don’t want something new, how does a company win. Maybe it will sell better the following two weeks when stock is higher as I remember reading that they stocked it quite badly in Japan. Really wanting the Americans to buy this now as I love this game so far operation 5 at the moment and its very fun

  15. Such a shame. I don’t know who to blame. Nintendo for not advertising quite enough or gamers in general for not supporting such a unique game. Call me a fanboy but its probably the latter since word of mouth is everything now.

  16. Hmmm…as good as gamers they are, I’m shocked that they didn’t want it. It must be very different in japan for them to pass us a challenge as good as they really are. Hell, I bet they can learn a game faster than your normal average gamer (casual) and they are considered casual too. Robots must be that exciting to them that they pass on such a worthy game.

  17. Too me, this game looks like it appeals more to the Japanese crowd. And for it to bomb over there, it can’t be a good sign for when it comes over here. Hopefully I’m wrong, I love Platinum and I will continue to support.

  20. Nintendo really needs to start marketing this. It is handling the publishing of the game and therefore should take the initiative and advertise/promote the hell out of this game. Why can’t Japanese gamers take on a brand new challenge instead of the same old stuff they usually play?
