Nintendo has explained why the Wii U console’s largest built-in storage solution is only 32GB of internal flash memory. Speaking to IGN, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils- Aime said that the company finds it reasonable to sell a system with adequate memory, and then let consumers purchase additional storage if need be. Read Fils-Aime’s take on the matter below:
“We believe it’s important to provide a value to the consumer. [Memory] gets cheaper, right? Minute by minute, day by day. And so why lock the consumer into some high price point just because it happens to have 120 gigs of memory? Our mentality is, let’s sell a system that has enough memory to get you going, and then if you love digital downloads and you want to keep downloading content, buy a separate external hard drive. The price of it today is a hell of a lot cheaper than it was six months ago. And that’s a value benefit that the consumer should enjoy. It’s a different mentality than our competitors, but I’ll tell you, ours is much more consumer-oriented given the reduction in ongoing price, of the cost of memory.”

I bought a Hard Drive.
Retarded fanboys
Retarted Donko lol
Retarded retard. There was absolutely no reason to act like that, yet you did.
So you consider yourself a fanboy?5/5 A+ 4/5
I don’t see how that logic works.
So he’s retarded for buying a harddrive!
I bought a hard drive because I spent more than half of my memory on the Wii U.
TRU DAT
No it isn’t, they just want to make their console look like i is cheaper, when in fact it isn’t, you’ll have to buy it eventually, because even if you do not download the games digitally, patches will take that space fast..it’s like selling a console without an hdmi cable and saying “you can play games on your controller, and if you want you can buy the cable later and play it”, they even excluded the motherfucking charger for the 3ds xl
Ps3 doesn’t come with a HDMI cable.
But it comes with a tv cable, i was implying it doesn’t come with anything
even so they were the first ones to say we are High Def, Bluray HD, True HD, blah blah etc etc….. then all they pack with it is a composite cable. A friend just bought a new HDTV and guess what there is no composite, onlu Component and hdmi….. thanks Sony he can’t even play it out of the box!
Ok..ps3-2006
Wii u-2012
Do you consider the wii u a current gen console or a next gen console, because all of you seem to be comparing it to ps3 and x360 in all aspects, and saying how it is better then them, and keep forgetting those consoles are 7 years old, fucking idiots
Wii u is next gen.
What I ment was that a HDMI cable isn’t expensive and you need one to play HD games. And both Xbox 360 and ps3 don’t give you one, so basically you don’t get a complete system. You don’t need more than 32gb to play games.
Yeah sure, Nintendo could have offered a console with bigger memory too. But with the price up at 600$ and then internal storage bump it up by 1-200$ it would be to expensive.
USB 2.0, no unification if accounts, expecting to use an extrenal HDD and not providing an option of a internal upgrade.
The only thing next gen about it is the gamepad. That’s it. Nothing else about it is next gen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qzDEnnnlMc
And for the most part, that’s what make the Wii U unique. People don’t seem to understand that concept and devs from 3rd parties can’t understand how to use their imagenation on to create unique games just yet to my understanding. Though they are learning how yet I believe they are having trouble doing so.
Well, it doesn’t matter what I say sence I believe it’s true, people will not believe a word I say because they either hate, fanboys/fangirls, or trolls from another system and STILL refuse to believe who really gave the chance for their system or company to thrive.
Anyways bean, I believe that so many are doubting the system and not giving it a chance to fly all because its main hitters are not on yet. The gamepad may be the only thing “next generation” about Wii U, but I believe it’s much more if you use you’re imagenation. No offence…
The graphics are phenomenal, it namože no second PS3 launched!
So that’s Wii U N.G. console!
Wii U is currently the ONLY CURRENT GEN SYSTEM. PS3 and Xbox 360 ARE LAST GEN. The 8th gen is now the current gen. The second stores open on the launch of PS4 and Xbox One they instantly become current gen. Since they will be THE NEWEST SYSTEM OUT.
Hey yo, all next gen consoles will require an HDD because of their memory set ups.
500 Gb is nothing when you’re installing each game to the hard drive.
And games are pretty hefty these days
Power does not determine gens troll-chan
Yes it does
Hahahahahaha. Moron. Patches woill never amount to 32 GB. Try again.
Saves, console patches, game patches, demos not 32 gbs?
Dumbass, patches can be programmed to reduce storage space. As more time passes, the OS can be refined to reduce software sizes in a smart way. Next time, do your damn homework. Or better yet, please go back to boarding school.
You are an idiot who responds to half of the comment and thinks he is right, what you said might be the case, but is that really your argument?IS THAT REALLY A GOOD ARGUMENT WHY NINTENDO DOESN’T HAVE A HDD??????
Because the Wii U uses a Solid State Drive, which is far better than any Hard Drive you wish to throw about. The question of storage space is a redundant one. SSD’s are far more reliable, and will eventually come down in price as time goes by. Less moving parts = less prone to malfunction.
Of course, say what you want about it, but I’d rather have a machine that doesn’t break down than run the risk of having to buy another hard drive just because my internal one has failed in a games console. Opening it up and swapping hard drives is just an added inconvenience. I can buy an external hard drive at my convenience and leisure.
Yes, an SSD is expensive, 120Gb SSD for a PC is still a luxury item in a new build compared to a traditional moving parts drive. Hard drives fail often, I personally like the SSD drive in console with the option to plug in any external drive if I need expansion. I’m pretty certain as SSD prices come down in the next few years that Nintendo will release a 128gb version, by then the e-store library might be mature enough to warrant needing that capacity built in.
I give up, fuck you, there you go, have your 32 gbs, and talk about how wii u graphics are “phenomenal”, while until now you were saying that graphics aren’t important, it seems now that is the only thing you’re talking about, but when xbox 1 and ps4 crush your dreams you’ll go back to the “graphics aren’t important”
Wii U Graphics are good for now, xbox 1 and ps4 will be better. duh… But if graphics are important to you why are you playing on consoles when PC games already look better than xbox1 and ps4?
As for the WiiU being incomplete with the 32gb? Yea that’s far fetched, it’ll take a while to fill that with game saves / patches. Now if it came with no memory and you had to buy the HDD just to make the thing work then I’d be right there with you saying that the WiiU comes incomplete.
Well, the graphics are not. To me, they just make the game look pretty. Why do you think wind waker got many people after acclaimed hated sailing…? What about Okami? Did they need realistic graphics to be an awesome game? I should say not. Graphic is an interface solely for giving the game’s it pert and nothing more. It is the gameplay that you should worry about. Terrible game play such as bad camra angles, bad control setups, horrible storylines, and sometimes (fps) frames per second. These affect the game waaaaay worse then the graphics. So to me and should be to every good gamer (and it’s not, what a shame) that the graphics unless realism type games like Halo, CoD, Gears, Eternal Darkness, etc…shouldn’t matter a bit.
after the day one MANDATORY WII U patch in the 32gb model your left with only 25gb, and in the 8gb model after the patch your left with a measly 3gb LMAO!
I have a basic white wii u which i bought for my daughter, after the AC3 Patch, trine 2 and patch for my 7 or so games i have less then 30mb left LOLOLOL
Its worthless, i wanted the white console and so was forced to buy the 8gb, shame i couldn’t get the white 32gb model they are now shipping!
My black premium also has not got much memory left, i would of preferred nintendo to at least have a proper premium wii u sku with like 80gb of memory! the 8gb was stupid of them! !
Im sorry but how do you loose 8 gigs on the Deluxe and 5 on the basic?
Come on man, what happened is you downloaded the Wii data to your WiiU
It is true.. And I’m happy they did it this way. You may not agree, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. It’s fine if you want the big hard disk when buying the console, and I see where you’re coming from with the ”making it look like it’s cheaper”, but it says so clearly on the box, also the PS3 I bought recently only had 12 GB of memory, which I was fine with as well.
I’m okay with disagreeing, I’m okay with flaming, and I’m okay with comment wars. But did you really just copy and paste your comment from earlier?
I never understood why people the bought the ps3 12gb when the ps3 320gb are way cheaper.
$300 + HDZelda, + 10% off e-shop acquired games, plus all the cheap 29.99 need for speed PC WiiU edition. Makes the WiiU cheaper and value for your buck.
I seriously doubt 28GB will ever get filled up without the help of downloading games.
External storage solutions are cheaper than built-in storage. Besides, USB is faster than internal HDD.
Nintendo is much more customer-oriented than their competitors.
You sir are a retarded retard of all retards. 3DS XL comes with a charger. It just doesn’t come the with charging stand. Do your research before opening your dumb mouth.
the fact you can use up to 3TB on an external means that memory on that thing doesn’t mean shit. PS3 with 500GB, 360 with 320GB, Wii U with 3TB? we all know the winner here.
Except you can upgrade the PS3’s (and PS4’s) memory with internal, external, and cloud storage. You can do the same with the the 360, albeit not as easily due to proprietary HDD’s.
At least the other companies provide more options. Nintendo’s just being Nintendo with this.
Your average consumer probably has no idea that you can even hook up an external to the Wii U.
I tossed a small 64 GB flash memory into the back of my wiiU, got it pretty cheap (hellava lot cheaper than it was 6 months ago.) now my WiiU has 96gigs. So I can easily do this with the competition as well? It was a PNY, tiny flash memory. Easy storage add on.
I more or less did the same. Damn easy to add space, although I AM disappointed we only got USB 2.0 on a next Gen console. *shrugs*
I haven’t noticed any issues playing my indie games and demos from my USB stick. I’ve read articles bringing this up months ago, but I doubt it will ever be an issue.
Actually Nintendo is giving consumers more options if you want more get more for a cheaper price if not then you are paying less and are content with the adequate memory the Wii u has
Current PS3 models: $199 12 GB, $250 – 320 GB + Game, $299 – 500 GB + Game.
And you can get your own storage if you want to upgrade. A friend of mine just upgraded his 80 GB PS3 to 1 TB for $40. So you can do the same, except internal HDD >>> External. Other companies give you choice of low storage, more storage, or options to upgrade on your own.
Nintendo isn’t giving consumers more options at all.
I haven’t been here in a really long time. Is donko a new troll?
yes…and meh about his words.
What Nintendo cares about doing is giving viable and practical options, not just simply giving options.
Now lets see which people on the comments are gonna complain about this…
First
With the digital age getting closer and closer by the minute, HOW THE HELL IS 32GB SUFFICIENT? Half of it was gone when I downloaded W101.
I would of preffered a 500GB HDD in the Wii U.
Did you even read the article?
Yes I did. Reggie trying to justify stupid decisions as usual.
hardly seems you did
32gb with option of adding more
meaning you can add if you want 100tb to it
next time, instead of making pointless and stupid comments, inform yourself, so you dont look like a moron
*Sigh* fanboys these days ….
A 7 year old console is cheaper with 500GB of space with the option of adding more and it still being cheaper (Where I live anyway). Externals are slow and Nintendo only included US B 2.0 (Why not 3.0?)
Internals are way faster than external, but then again … Nintendo likes old tech.
7 year old console=>old tech
at that logic, the Ps4 must cost the same as ps3 as the Ps4 will have the same HDD capacity as the Ps3 right now
about usb 3.0, yeah, i feel that too
ofc are faster, but i have tested hdd in the past, and an external powered hdd loads almost at the same rate as an internal
again, ofc internal are the best option, but i sense nintendo’s move is well justified and way better at certain points
I really don’t understand why you have to throw out the casual “ur a fanboi” to everybody who disagrees and/or argues with you. It’s really annoying. Just because someone is dedicated to a company, doesn’t mean they’re a fanboy. Just because they’re protecting something a company does, doesn’t mean they’re a fanboy. Before throwing that around, try find a definition for it. Well, a slang definition, because that’s what it is, slang.
With the same success I can tell you that you’re an anti-Nintendo because you’re disagreeing with Reggie here.
For the record, I think this entirely makes sense, and it is consumer friendly.
Those who don’t use up all the storage space pay less! How does that not make sense? Those who want more space, buy a HDD! The Wii U is (in a sense) cheap, anyways. One week on a mediocre job gets you a Wii U. One day on a mediocre job gets you a HDD. Nintendo doesn’t actually like all tech. Nintendo is using more modern tech than the PS4/Xbox One being the PPC.
I won’t go too deep into it, though.
Nintendo doesn’t actually like old* tech.
old tech yet others imitate.
Anyone who protects any company to the extreme is a fanboy, this site is a full blown Nintendo fanboy site, I know plenty of Nintendo fans who refuse to come here anymore because it is that disgusting how bad it gets. I like the Wii U, just the little storage space and no unification of accounts for an apparent next gen system, is total utter bullshit. Anyone who tries to justify it, may as well go live back in the early 2000’s, because it really isn’t that hard to implement.
Not necessarily true. If during a discussion people can see the good points in their reasoning and, while accept the bad, are willing to argue against them, then that doesn’t make them a fanboy, that just makes them pro-topic.
A fanboy doesn’t use logic and reasoning. Dedicated fans however do, but that doesn’t make them fanboys because of it.
Nintendo is actually working on unified accounts.
Do you really have to call people a fanboy just because they have a different opinion?
I personally prefer the cheapest solution, which is to get a console with little storage built-in, then just extend it with a prefered amount of external memory when (if) needed. It saves me a lot more money than buying a console with a ton of internal storage that I might not even use.
when it said reggie, the article turned into irrelevant stupidity.
Maybe you should try reading the article before you comment.
I read the article. Maybe you should stop white knighting your precious Nintendo.
Better idea; howsabout you stop whining like a pin-stuck cat and pulling out the term fanboy whenever someone agrees with something that someone from Nintendo says.
Because the fact is, Reggie is right this time around; external storage is cheap, and it’s not nearly slow enough to be a good reason for bitching about buying it.
If 32 is too small for you, go physical or get an HDD, but quit bitching because Nintendo didn’t raise their console price with a bigger gig size.
Externals are slow. I know Nintendo fans have low standards for speed, but far out, why not at least give us USB 3.0? Fucking cheap bastards.
I’m currently using externals and there are no problems with it. I think you may be a tad overreacting. Also you may consider purchasing retail if that’s truly a concern for you. I understand that there might be an issue with load times for certain games in regards to disc-read versus install, but it shouldn’t deter you from having an enjoyable experience. I try to keep my main purchases retail as to limit my need for an external and I’m happy with that.
USB 2.0 isn’t as slow as you’re implying it is (at least not from my experience).
I agree that they should’ve had USB 3.0 support though. It is turning into the new standard, and would have future-proofed the Wii U more.
1. My Wii U launches as fast as my PS3, I tested it.
2. I saw a video about the Externals and it was only 1 second or so slower than the Wii U, even after the update.
1
Didn’t you read what they said, it is to get you going. So buy a bloody hard drive if you want downloads.
Nintendo, the king of inconvenience. Buy an external HDD? Fuck, is Nintendo that cheap they can’t include a DECENT size?
For me the size is pretty decent since the number one thing I’ll use it for is game saves and such.
You are a blind fanboy, if nintendo said they would never adopt hd, cds and online, you would still buy their consoles and games
No he isn’t. Mike has criticized Nintendo plenty of times.
Thats true, I have a couple of time recently. Then again, I’ve also been busy on my own project…so I’m a bit pissy at the moment.
Um, what? I’m just pointing out that because I only buy physical games and even then I don’t buy as many games as others would, I won’t use up the space that quickly. It’ll probably be a year from now or more before I start having storage issues.
sell your console if you have a lot of problems with it.
Or Nintendo can provide multiple options so that everyone’s happy right out of the box.
External HDDs are much slower than internals, especially through the outdated USB 2.0.
Those with 32GB models won’t be affected by another model with 250GB. There is no possible way more models could be less consumer friendly as Reggie claims.
if they are external powered, the speed is comparable
Nintendo could have given us 3.0 USB jacks… :/
Did 3.0 exist in 2008? Nintendo never thought one day in 2009.
what’s 3.0?
Tell us how you feel about the 8 GIG model. ;D
8gig model? The 1st generation Iphone had 8 gigs wayyyyyyy back when gas prices were $2.25 á gallon.
Would you prefer paying for the price of 500 GB when you’re going to have to buy an HDD Anyway?
Look at the next gen systems.. you’re downloading everything to the hard drive(discs have mandatory installs, WiiU doesnt(they do this to make the games run like a download copy would), you download games. SSD is faster than 500gb memory, so is the HDD, you cant plug in HDD’s into next gen systems, you have to buy an internal replacement
idk why ppl make such a fuzz about 32gb
if you dont like it but a external HDD,
this is not sony or m$ where you get a yearly “hdd” upgrade to the existing consoles
this way, Nintendo is cutting down the sane and sell a single version with the ability to upgrade
Nintendo seems to be the king of inconvenience >_>
Sacrifice the convenience for the people who play games digitally for value. Honestly, as someone who wouldn’t be buying many digital games in the first year, I prefer the cheaper price over the larger storage.
Sacrifice convenience? Sorry bro, I want to advance with the future, Physical will be obsolete soon enough.
You’re actually buttfucking retarded, aren’t you.
Solid state hard drives are ridiculously expensive , so to cut down the price nintendo actually decided to take the smart route and allow external storage. EVERYONE has an external hard drive, I certainly have more than I can count, I actually wish they had made the option of external hard drives when the wii came out, it would have been a much smarter option than giving the piss poor amount they did with that…
Where did I mention SSD’s? Someone needs to learn to read. Smart route? That would be putting in a 500GB HDD …
External HDD’s are slow, especially the USB 2.0 ones. But hey, continue being a fanboy. It’s cool.
Mine isn’t. I have a Verbatim 500GB external and it runs just as fast as any internal HDD I have. I’ve never noticed a performance dip. Like any piece of technology there is not absolute in terms of performance. Some things run better than others, some things run faster than others.
How fast do you really need a external HDD to run anyway? I mean really. Whose gonna be downloading full games onto the Wii U anyway? All I would use an external HDD for would be Virtual Console stuff. It’s not that serious for me personally to be downloading full games onto an external HDD.
If downloading full games onto a hard drive is such a lure, get a gaming-rig PC. Otherwise, the storage plans for the Wii U are fine.
I like physical ;(
Many people do. But it’s going to go soon. Movie stores are slowly dying, and so are book stores. Digital in games is becoming ever stronger too.
i dont think it will
not everyone has a good bandwidth(or internet at all) we get to the same argument of the “Always on” topic
not everyone has the resources to be able to do this stuff
main reason why Cloud gaming is not even close to perfection, not even Sony and M$ are willing to implement it
MS wants to implement it. The main reason it’s not being implemented is because of the gaming community who are a bunch of cry babies.
again, not really
cloud gaming is by far archaic. There is not way a normal home connection will not just steam but play at the same time, be able to hold on a game session smoothly
also, let us remember all M$ decisions backfire at a 90% rate
Well, in true bean is right on this…once MS said they were going cloud, a major fuss was told…never the less, by the same fools. Too me, they already doing cloud gaming by making downloads of full games such as Mario and Luigi Dream Team, WWHD, New Super Mario Bros. 2, U, ZombieU, New Super Luigi U, etc. Too me, that’s kinda cloud gaming.
cloud gaming is not digital downloads
in fact, cloud gaming is NOT downloading
cloud gaming is playing live on a remote server
Well I did say “that’s to me” which must have gone over the head. Meaning it was my own thinking. I know all too well but thank you anyways.
I’m starting to feel really old even though I’m only 20 :/
Yes, but even Red Box and net flix have hard disk movies, because not every single movie is being streamed on Netflix. And as for book stores, wtf are you talking about, books stores will never go away, because there are TONS of people who IDK prefer to read a book than to look at a screen, or not being able to read something because the device needed to read a Nook or what ever digital copy that you have doesn’t have any energy to run, physical copies of anything will never disappear because of how vulnerable Digital is, one good virus and all of that digital goodies will be gone.
You sir are a retard.
” as for book stores, wtf are you talking about, books stores will never go away, because there are TONS of people who IDK prefer to read a book than to look at a screen, or not being able to read something because the device needed to read a Nook ”
Too bad the Barens and Nobles franchising stores are shutting down. Also News papers like the Plain Dealer and USPS is dying because of digital. Only thing keeping the newspaper companies in business are the baby boomers. Once they die out generations X &Y will be the new future.
Books stores where I am are going bankrupt due to e-readers. Not going anywhere huh? A massive chain in my country just closed its doors because of the digital age. Get with the times man.
Movie stores are dying, rentals etc etc
Someone needs to go outside.
Not everyone cares about the “convenience” of downloading games. For some long time gamers, going to the store and picking up the game, just like opening the box with the disc, is tradition with their gaming. If you enjoy it thats fine, if I don’t mind going to the store to get my game, thats also fine. I personally don’t ever want to see fully digital, even though its getting there. I hope I’m not sounding like a fan boy here. For people like you who do want to download games, it is a little more expensive to get the external, maybe $80 for a TB. Adding more space would be nice but the system is already expensive for what you get. If the gamepad was as revolutionary as it was made out to be, it would be fine, but so far its just a real expensive luxury that is causing the system to be more expensive than it should with the given specs. Anyway I’m getting lost in my words so I’m gonna smoke this bowl and go back to playing Oracle of Ages.
Physical discs are pretty much obsolete already on every device except Nintendo
Cartridges arent
…and you seem to be the king of complaining about anything Nintendo. Anyways, I suggest the Toshiba Canvio 3.0 750GB for $54 at amazon.com. I comes in matching black, white, and if you want your hard drive to stand out a bit red, blue and silver.
What? We should just accept stupid decisions? If a company fucks up, you need to complain. Otherwise they’ll get the idea they can keep doing it.
You can express your negative opinions, but politely. Especially in a blog full of people who may not agree with you. To me, the 32 GB is good to get you started and lower the price of the console. If you want more memory for digital games, buy an external hard drive. Otherwise, Dont complain and stick with the physical copies.
waste 100$ for a good fucking external hardrive or they could at least put 100gb in the fucking wii u. look how much the ps3 and 360 are offering and the ps4 and xbox one. its pathetic and nintendo is going to continue this bullshit because retarded fanboys such as yourself like butt fuck everything they do.
nintendo is king of stupidity and reggie is the most retarded person their.
You do fucking realize that, that 100$ hardrive would have cost double if it had been a built in proprietary one. At some point you get to have a 32Gb Wii U + 1Tb for like 400$, instead of a 120Gb Wii U for 450$ or something.
It soo muuuuuch Cheeaaaaaaper this way. That’s the fucking POINT.
I agree.
(I wish this site had a voting system :S)
up until now, the only flaw on nintendo is their poor marketing
Yep.
It’s their biggest flaw to say the least.
leave now
not really
by far, Nintendo has overcome their mistakes every generation they have
even if it is for hardcore gamers, the PS3 and X-360 had poor sales compared to the Wii, same happened on the handheld area.
I feel, Sony and M$ being more inconvenient than Nintendo
LMAO WHAT?
Please explain how they are more inconvenient?
Nintendo:
-No decent HDD space forcing you to buy an external HDD if you want digital games
-Still thinks Local co op is the way to go in a lot of games
-No unified account system (Which 7 year old consoles have)
-Games are tied to console and it’s a hassle and a half getting them back when your console screws up or is stolen (Ive gone through the BS)
-Large majority of games aren’t even on the eshop
PLEASE TELL ME HOW THEY ARE CONVENIENT
-True, but is not really inconvenient
-Their approach is tricky but goes with the hand of family gaming
-no fucking idea how hard it is
-so is Ps4 and X-One, also, the Wii didnt “bound” the game
-it is at least 1 year since the eShop downloads come first before the physical
-It is for people wanting to buy digital only, meaning we have to buy more add ons
-There approach needs to include online as well
-Nintendo have thousands of employees, it shouldn’t be that hard considering it’s pretty much taught in University
-PS4 and X1 is tied to the account. And we can redownload them whenever onto different consoles. While Wii U isn’t.
-hum, i kinda disagree but ok
-second that
-it was a rhetoric question
-afaik, on both is up to the devs(games) drm to bound the console as well
You can redownload Wii U games, too.
I was referring to if my system breaks and I get a new one, I need to go through the BS of getting my account and games transferred.
Wii U has it’s inconveniences yes, but you will have to pay for a subscription fee on the X1 and PS4 in order to have full system functionality, and to top that off you have to pay your service provider for that internet, so already right there its a HUGE inconvenience as I am forced to get something to make the other work, because that subscription fee will be a waste of money without that internet, plus the price of those games are said to even range up to the $90. Plus some of those games will implement microtransactions as well, yet another inconvenience. Plus the power to power the consoles won’t be cheap either. In the end all that money will add up and a one time buy of a 1TB external will be nothing.
And you can download your account onto other xboxes and still not have your digital games or DLC from your Xbox, and if you have a Xbox Slim which have no removable hard drive it’ll become inconvenient if that xbox broke, or if the Hard Drive itself became useless. So in the end your argument is pointless. You remind me of my nephew, He is Spiteful, and stupid, only runs his mouth and doesn’t think. You need to open up your mind and don’t only think about the inconvenience of the memory space but cost as well.
Irregardless you’re forced to get an external HDD
Nintendo puts all of their games in the Eshop, complain to activision about their games/
Local multiplayer has a shit ton more longevity than online multiplayer.
If your account system goes down then your fucked in regards to your games, shit the company can restrict your access too, but regardless NIntendo will get one eventually. It doesnt do shit anyway except being able to redownload yoru games if something happens but when the servers go down in 10 years YOU STILL CANT DOWNLOAD SHIT.
first
Well said, Reggie!!!
no. its so they can sell the console cheaper. Adding external memory equals to the amount of them adding a 120GB hdd.
Noooo. Commercial external hdds are so much cheaper than adding built in hdds themselves. It is so much better for us. Serioulsy, how much does an external 1Tb hdd cost nowadays?, yet not PS4 nor Xb1 will be sold with 1Tb, it’s too expensive that way
nintendo sucks
No, Nintendo doesn’t suck. Just Reggie does. That guy needs to go.
amen
And Iwata. And the rest of management.
Their devs are fine for the most part. Except for excluding online options in games just because “they prefer local.” That’s BS, we should at least have options to play online with friends.
The ones who exclude it are probably under instruction from Management anyway.
Nintendo seems to not want to embrace technology. I love the gamepad, but why aren’t they huge with online? I live in a regional area and would love to play with my friends who live in the city.
THERE! That’s the key word…”online play”…to me, this is where nintendo needs to rethink. Local multi is good and all but they don’t have their minds clear. I suggest local and online would be the best answer to solve both problems.
Because the WiiU doesnt have alot of games that work online.
Come on play MH3U and Tekken and COD and Injustice ect ect if you want online.
Or Trine 2.
Along with iwata
I really hate to tell you this, Jellybean… but I have to agree with you. Iwata is a better president… now wonder he had hosted ND during the E3 event.
I’m not a massive fan of Iwata, but I certainly prefer him over Reggie.
FINALLY PEOPLE AGREE WITH ME ABOUT REGGIE!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU GUYS!!!! HE NEEDS TO GET THE FUCK OUT AND GO BACK TO HELL, PIZZA HUT!!!!!
xD What is it with you and Pizza Hunt? XD LOL! I know they are bad but good if your hungry enough.
Iwata took a paycut and refuses to fire employees in an dev environment where companies like EA fire people after six months.
Hence why their games suck half the time.(that they have a hand in developing)
Iwata is a serious brother and a gamer.
As a CEO he’s kinda eh, but he takes that shit seriously and does his best.
What more can we ask from a CEO?
I dont think you would do better than him. He’s a marketing expert and spokesperson, while you are here, reading a nintendo blog post about his response to a topic. Basically, he’s doing his job, meanwhile you are here.
Marketing expert? Oh is that why the Wii U is so successful? Oh wait — people think it’s an add on to the Wii … great expert!
It is not all of Nintendo’s fault. Everyone knows they need to advertise but consumers are not the brightest bunch. The 3ds had confusion as well with peolpe going so far as to cut the extra part off of a 3ds cartridge to see if it would work in a ds. I know they need to advertise but people are dumb enough to think that something added on to the name means an add-on to an existing system. I think people probably had that problem with the xbox 360 and will also have it with xbox one.
Then why aren’t XBone and PS4 out of this equation? Because they have better marketing and PR.
Marketing expert would: Not advertise a product until it has strong titles, Tjherefore casuals who get it don’t trash talk about it because it doesnt have their appealing games. Again, there is a team of marketing experts vs you, pachter, and many non expert ”fans” who think they know about marketing and advertisement.
“Marketing expert would: Not advertise a product until it has strong titles”
Yet I see PS4 ánd Xbone advertised
You just answered your own doubt.
I wouldn’t release something till it actually has a strong title … you know a thing called logic?
LETS RELEASE A SYSTEM WITH NO STRONG TITLES! And expect everyone to wait …. good work ….
“Again, there is a team of marketing experts vs you, pachter, and many non expert ”fans” who think they know about marketing and advertisement”
There we go. Fanboy. Lol.
didn’t you just say you’re loving the vita…i mean i enjoy mine as well but well it only now started to pick up the pace. do you remember the sony marketing for the vita, remote play and all that? don’t let me start with the memory card pricing.
i for one play more on the wiiu than on any other system these days. play a lot of dual screen coop, off tv play i love as well. typing this on the pad, much more comfortable than on the vita.
games are coming now. great ones. pricedrop is there too.i really don’t know what’s to hate about that.
Again, there is nothing wrong with being a fan. Also, they made sure to release the Wii U early so people understood that the Wii U was a new console by their next Christmas, which is this Christmas.
Pretending to know about marketing strategies isn’t going to get you anywhere, kiddo. Getting an education will though.

The fact of the matter is, the ps3 and xbox 360 both come with a bigger hdd and are cheaper (until the wii u’s price cut, from which the 360’s 250gb hdd unit is 20$ more).
If wii u had usb 3.0, it could be argued that it doesn’t matter. But Wii U only supports usb 2.0 – which equates to slow speeds. Internal > external any day.
And you still hve to factor in the price of buyig an external hdd. Sure, 50$ isn’t a whole lot, but combined with the current 350$/300$ price tag and you’re getting up there.
No excuse. I’m sure Nintendo will go back on what they’ve said and offer a bigger hdd solution later on.
This is all common sense. Sadly that’s not too common on this Nintendo fanboy site.
>@WiiUExposed
>Shulk as the profile picture
Of course they will. 32g will be so obsolete and old that it will actually be more expencive than bigger memory.
”And you still hve to factor in the price of buyig an external hdd. Sure, 50$ isn’t a whole lot, but combined with the current 350$/300$ price tag and you’re getting up there.”
Not mentioning you have to pay online and network membership. Oh wait!
Still cheaper than the Wii U is Australia. Matter of fact, just about everything is.
Not really, I prefer lack of memory than paying for online multiplayer. Get back to me when you have a valid argument, like something not influenced by your complaining syndrome.
More memory + online which is extremely more stable than Nintendo network being cheaper. Come back to me when you stop white knighting your precious 80’s company.
Paying for online is BS and you know it. Stop the damage control.
I’m fine with paying online ;) I’d happily pay for online if Nintendo started doing it too. Only if they use that money to invest in the network. Like Microsoft is doing, and Sony will start doing.
Its not more stable, you arent paying for servers and fucking technology, gamers are stupid, Xbox live is peer to peer, meaning you connect to someone else’s network instead of servers
I think they can add some sort of patch or firmware update to support usb 3.0. It can be surprising what modern technology can do. My computer is quite old and it can update to usb 3.0 and sdhc cards.
A current gen console (PS3) has 468gb more than a next gen platform.
Dafuq Nintendo?
PS3 and XBox 360 have had and still have different memory models varying in prices depending on the memory. The more memory, the more expensive.
Is cheaper to turn a 300$ wiiu to have a TB of memory that it is to turn 200$ Xbox arcade to have 250gb and the wiiu still is heaped after the upgrade.
In a nutshell it can’t be help, anyways anyone want ice cream?
32GB is fine to start but there’s no reason they couldn’t have designed the system with a expansion bay to hold an internal hard drive. Having an external drive sitting on top of the system is pretty crappy.
I’m planning on purchasing an external hard drive either this holiday season or next year. With so many independent titles coming up for the Wii U, it’s difficult to make at least a selection. With only 32GB of internal Flash memory, the U truly is an affordable system. And If we want more memory, we have the freedom of buying an external drive… up to 2 TB maximum.
True, and if you don’t want or can’t afford a hard drive, then stick with the physical copies. What Reggie said is so obvious, even a 10 year olds and older can understand. But I guess Sonydrones and haters are too young to fit that category.
Nah, just fanboys like you can’t understand Nintendo is behind with the times. No unified account system, no decent sized HDD space, What a great next gen console it is! Doesn’t even have what 7 year old consoles do …
you’re wasting your time man. the stupid fanboys on this site are blind clowns.
I know dude, I know. I think I’ll just go play Pikmin.
I can’t understand why in 2008 when working on Wii U, they focused on the PS3,360? When the 2013 Ford Fusion was being worked on in 2011, they made it to compete against the 2014 Camry not a 2011 Camry.
“I think I’ll just go play Pikmin”
Ohhh whats your ID number so I can play you in Bingo Battle….oh wait I can’t.
Nintendo should be in jail for animal abuse. They put everything you can and can’t do withtheir game people buy it and still whine. You could save lots of money by learning how to read.
I read Pikmin 3 was supposed to be a launch tittle. I also read Nintendo was aiming for hardcore gamers. Where have I missed read?
You knew pikmin 3 did not have online and you find that a huge negative same has the wiiu just having 32g. Then why you bought them?
There is really nothing wrong with being a fan. also, even though Nintendo is behind the times, this makes their games timeless. People who played Wind Waker back then, still play it now. Older games can still be enjoyed.
The Wii U is a videogame CONSOLE. Not a DVD player/Multimedia box. A CONSOLE is made to play video games. If you would like to play movies on your console, then Wii U is not the console for you. Instead of adding a dvd player to their console, they offer innovative gameplay through motion controls and a new controller known as the GamePad. They know this, so they don’t waste their resources adding something that a console is not for. If you want to watch movies, there are means through which you can watch movies, few examples are NetFlix, blu-ray and DVD. Nintendo offers quality games and Yes, Sony also offers some quality games, but Nintendo offers a fun, video game console with quality games, made to play games and innovative gameplay.
As Reggie repeatedly says to the media and haters: ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAMES.
” so they don’t waste their resources adding something that a console is not for”
No wonder why Nintendo TVIi is the same 10 months after launch.
I have no problem using Nintendo TVii… especially checking the latest up to the minute on sports and interacting your Miiverse friends during live events and favorite shows.
You mean to tell me Nintendo TVii is working now? I gave up on that shit 4 months ago. If their dumbasses advertised that, I would have known.
” ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAMES.” we didn’t had games for 9 months. since the wii u isn’t a ”multimedia box” we didn’t have any use for it for 9 months, it was a dust magnet.
But the year old ports are fine! /sarcasm
.
Its not Flash Memory, its propietary
flash is not a protected name… it’s a name for NAND memory and the wii u (and the wii) both use NAND i.e. they use flash
My problem is that internal memory does nkt break easily. External hard drive dies more frequently. Can you just redownload the games with a new hard drive as long as it is the same console/account? Any suggestions fro a good hard drive to get? (I’ve used Iomega and it died on me 3 times in 2yrs. Seagate is ok but I have only tried the one that pligs directly thru usb w/o separate power supply).
Western Digital.
Noted. Thanks Jb946.
Also be mindful to care for your externals. I.e. keep out of heat, keep clean and well ventilated and running the disc on a flat surface. The ones that sit on their sides tend to die more quickly. I have mixed experiences with externals myself. Iomega, Seagate and Western Digital have worked for me (more or less haha).
Q: Can you just redownload the games with a new hard drive as long as it is the same console/account?
A: Yeah
I got it, they want to make the U cheap… That’s ok, we don’t want 500 GB like PS3 anyway. But what about 100 GB instead of 30??!
My mother’s usb-stick has more memory than 30 GB…
I can guarantee that Nintendo is going to increase the storage of their Wii U’s within a year.
“I can guarantee that Nintendo is going to increase the storage of their Wii U’s within a year.” Too bad they were too stupid to have thought about that in 2008 when Wii U was in development. It’s always patch this, patch that. Why the fuck didn’t they think about these things back when gas prices were $2.85 a gallon?
Well, I’m looking at it this way, trying to see some positives: Sony screwed up a crap ton with the PS3; but in the end, it looks like they learned. The PS4 removes just about all of the complaints that were found with the PS3. And even with the PS3 itself, Sony made some changes bit by bit through its lifecycle.
So.. hopefully Nintendo learns. Hopefully they take all of that consumer and fan criticism and improves on their products in the future, including the current ones.
I mean, some things might seem to be no-brainers for us, but no company is perfect.
No there not lol bu bu bu bu but you need a big harddrive to be core 12 year old CHUT UP
We’ll probably get a 128 GB flash memory model at some point (I don’t expect them to use HDD, but keep using SSD).
An Ipod touch has more memory than the Wii U.
My phone has more memory than a Wii U. For a next gen console to have less space than an iPod and phone is pretty sad.
Thats because in 2008 when Apple introduced the 2nd generation Ipod Touch withthe basic 8 gig 32 gigs for the premium, Nintendo thought only about technology in 2008. Today, there is no such thing as a brand new 8 gig I pod touch. But in 2013 an 8 gig console is brand new!!! There’s something wrong with Nintendo. I’m going to assume that the next console has technology like it’s 2012.
Prices. That’s an important factor when selling a console. More storage = higher prices.
People were craving for a price cut when the deluxe bundle was at $350, the price would have been even higher if it included more storage.
You must have a lot of fun with your phone.
64GB. I travel a fair bit so I pack it with music and some games.
Hey Jellybean a tiny Ipod touch can download more movies than the Wii U can. Lol.
A Wii U isn’t used to download movies. Your argument is invalid.
” I travel a fair bit so I pack it with music and some games.”
Too bad you can’t take your portable Wii U on your travels and play people on line with it.
I just take my Vita and play me some Persona :D
P4G, officially my favorite JRPG of all time. :’)
Yeah, stupid Nintendo, we can also play Candy Crush with our phones and iPods.
Ignoring that the Ipod ain’t a phone!!!!
What has a space got to do with gaming
So my airing cuboard at home is bigger than your airing cuboard im more WASHING MACHINE CORE THAN U R
If my mums washing line is longer than your mums washing line is my mum more CORE MUM than yours
Games have what to do with a media storage device SAD SAD U SAY
Xpad obsolete and sad dualshock 4 obsolete and sad kinect downs sysdrome sad
Wiiu worlds most advanced gaming device with a tool box of amazing controllers sad SAD
Wiiu has as much storage as the owner gamer CHOOSES TO HAVE
Internal flash external flash and add on drives
Nintendo allows the consumer to choose RETARD
I csn buy 2 wiius with 2 gamepads and 2 games and a 2DS for the same price as a ps4 bundled with two DERP PADS and killzone I can add a multitude of flash cards and drives and games
And still MASSIVLY UNDERCUT THE PRICE OF XBONE
I just devined SAD IT AINT THE WIIU
Then why don’t they sell an official external hard drive?
Because they only make games and systems. Nintendo tells everyone that the Wii U is compatible with external hard drives.
Already Nintendo is behind the times with a united and uniform network across their current platforms. Add that to the low storage capacity, I have always thought that this can pose another impediment to their digital sales and online network.
Not everyone is going to go out and buy an external drive and not everyone even knows that you can do so. It’s mainly avid gamers and tech savvy individuals who know. Other regular consumers don’t know.
But then again, I don’t think Nintendo really cares about that side of their business as much as other companies.
Rhey tell people this on the Eshop
How does Reggie still keep his job with the dumb shit coming from his mouth lately? I would have fired him back when gas prices were $2.99 a gallon.
:)
Point the First: The internal storage is SSD, not HDD. This means that the amount of power consumed is reduced. This also has the added benefit of reducing the amount of heat produced, thus allowing for a more efficient heat sink and smaller cooling system.
Point the Second: SSD costs. A LOT. As a newer type of hard drive, it’s technology is pricier. Enough so that if they were to put in a larger amount (say, a 500 GB), it would SUBSTANTIALLY increase the cost of manufacture, thus having that cost passed on to you and I, rather than eaten by them. A $299.99 system would probably cost closer to $449.99, an unreasonable price, given the current market.
And Point the Third: From what I have read and heard from those i have talked to, USB 2.0 doesn’t slow down a games’ performance AT ALL. Downloading TO a HDD with 2.0 may constitute a wait, but the game itself plays wonderfully from a HDD. This was observed firsthand by myself when my brother showed me his downloaded copy of ZombiU. (BTW, that game was HIGHLY underrated, it is SCARY good!) No difference in performance between that version and a disc copy a friend of mine showed me three days ago.
All this adds up to this being a sound decision by Nintendo. Don’t get me wrong, I love bells and whistles as much as the next guy. But when I just want to start playing a good game, I worry about that AFTER I have enjoyed myself. Besides, as cheap as external HDD’s are, I’m not going to complain. Why should I? As a gamer, the games come first. THEN I worry about how I am going to save my games. My first TRUE game download (not counting the ambassador titles on my 3DS or the virtual console games on my 3DS and Wii is going to be Wind Waker HD. 2.6 GB is a large download, but small enough that I won’t have to worry, since I am a fan of physical ownership.
“USB 2.0 doesn’t slow down a games’ performance AT ALL. Downloading TO a HDD with 2.0 may constitute a wait, but the game itself plays wonderfully from a HDD. ”
That’s true…even with VC titles like Super Mario World, Super Street Fighter 2, etc. I had to wait for them to load up from the 500GB Toshiba External Drive I have but once the game started up, it was fine.
All those people at Nintendo are just stupid or what!!?? They should have a 10Tb SuperDeluxe bundle for about USD $1,000, but, hey! we’d have a lot of space to storage all our music and games right in the first month, right??
They should have gone the PS3 route and allowed us to swap out the internal HDD ourselves. It’s great that I can go get an external 2TB drive but those still run over $100 and loading games from them is awfully slow. Not to mention you have to power down not only the Wii U but the HDD too once you’re done with it.
Issue: Nintendo is using SSD, not HDD.
Weird for a statement from Nintendo to have a word like “hell” in it.
I don’t care if they do or not, but that sentence ruins the image I have for the company, lol!
Also, 32 GB is pretty good for a cheap next gen console with a soon to come price cut with the ability to link up with an external hard drive.
Who wants to bet that the next Nintendo for 2017 has technology like it’s 2013?
Unless Iwata steps down by then, I’m betting everything.
what a stupid reason. They could have at least made it 100 gb. nintendo sometimes man you wonder what kind of crap they’re smoking. they really need new leadership.
IGN should stop with the interviews. The things Nintendo has been saying is so stupid not even the Sonydrones are posting on here.
Sorry Nintendo can’t back you up on this one. Even with those 32 GBs only 25 are actually usable for game/application data. Some games can be upwards of 25+ GBs of space,32 is hardly gonna allow anyone to “get started.”
The only positive I can see is at least they don’t make you buy proprietary hard drives.
How about we all take a look at the prices of the consoles.
Wii U = $300. Console + GamePad + $50 game + 32 GB. Miyamoto said the GamePad adds $100 easily. So that means, the console itself costs $150.
Now look at the PS4. $400. Console + $50-ish controller + 500 GB, no?
So the Wii U itself costs only $150 while the PS4 costs $350 (unless the $400 includes a game or something). So the Wii U is cheaper, which accounts for the lack of memory and power (PS4/XB1 are way more powerful). Personally, I think Nintendo should’ve used 50-150 more dollars on the power and memory >.>
Lmao no, The WiiU costs around 270$ to produce. The pad is like 50-60$.
The console itself is being sold at a loss so its actually somewhat more than that
The part about storage pricing and time comparison Reggie is spot on. Remember that the PS3 launched with mere 20/40GB and it was $600 six years ago and as every year passes, newer models of slightly increased storage space are updated and cost cheaper. Lets not forget that the Gamepad controller itself could possibly cost $80-100 if sold separately so it adds another big cost already to the Wii U package. 32GB may be small compare to other tech offerings, but lets be real about the availability and timing of storage. You can actually find cheap USB 32/64GB online for $20. I got a 32GB for $19 at Walmart. I even found a 128GB mini USB on eBay for $20-30. That right there, if it works, already gives me about 150GB and that is enough to download a dozen or two of digital softwares on Wii U.
You gotta stop and think at least twice sometimes folks.
PS3 launched in 2006. Wii U launched in 2012. Prices of tech plus technological and industry standards have changed a lot within that time.
You gotta stop and think at least twice sometimes.
Nintendo though is using SSD instead of HDD, which is newer tech (and more costly).
Imagine it’s like how HDDs were 8 years ago when it comes to pricing (to some extent).
SSD isn’t new tech at all. With that said, there’s still nothing stopping them from using internal HDDs in the future.
@Nintendo: I just saw spyshots of the 2014 Kia Sedona made to compete with the 2015 Town N country, Sienna and Odyssey. BMW also has a car on Spy Shots to compete with a 2015 Lexus IS. Yet Nintendo’s R&D thinks of current models and technology and release the product 6 years later.
As much as I love the Wii U, there is no way 32gb is enough. It’s not a problem for me, because I’m always buying external drives for my After Effects projects, but it’s a problem for the consumer who is eventually going to go all digital with the Wii U. Like it or not, we will be in an all digital age soon, and with games averaged at 10gb or more, 32gb will never be enough, and Nintendo shouldn’t be telling consumers they can spend more, especially when it’s for products that they get no revenue for. They should be offering the full solution up front to make sure it’s ready for the digital age. Giving the option to use an external drive is fine, but allow the consumer to ease into that decision, and give them a good start. 32gb isn’t a good start. Give them around 128gb to start with. That would at least be ideal.
adding a 128GB drive would have made the premium model about 50$ more expensive
and people were already moaning about the price
“people were already moaning about the price” Will yeah would you pay full price for a 2008 Camry?
a 2008 .. what? that sentence makes no sense
Will of course it makes no sense everyone is not going to pay for no 2008 technolgy marketed for 2013. That’s why Wii U has a price cut.
the price is almost completely irrelevant.. it’s the games that matter
price cuts in the UK italy and germany didn’t result in better sales
also if you were paying for that technology with 2008 prices you’d be paying upwards of 500$
solid state memory and touch screens weren’t as inexpensive then as they are now and the GPU would have been at least upper middle class at that time
The WiiU wasnt able to be made in 2008 if you took all the parts it has.
It certainly would overheat a hell of a lot fucking more.
Yeah will in 2008, Nintendo thought of 2008 and planned to release that 2008 in 2012. Even college text books adjust to the changes in times to keep students up to date in the rapidly changing world.
Yeah, and those college textbooks also upgrade in price.
Will of course they do it’s called “inflation” Everything goes up even gas prices.
He just told you to shut up with the whining politely.
And if i shut up what’s that going to do make Reggie smarter? Yet when I bashed the Sonydrones I wasn’t annoying but because I’m bashing Nintendo I’m annoying. Fan boys need to criticise their companies or they want ever get better. But if you want to play dumb that everything Nintendo does is fine, then that’s on you.
Nintedo offers you a product they give you all the info of what it is included and you buy it but you don’t like what is included. Who is the stupid?
STFU BITCH!!!! jtz is absolutely right what he is saying about nintendo. everything he said is right. no stupid drones like you will just bend over and have nintendo rape you, and you will take it and settle for complete bullshit. you are the ones that are hurting nintendo. and what he is saying is right, he doesnt want to settle for less anymore and can see that his favorite company is not doing shit right.
He already bend same has you. Your comment is officially void. They already have your money so no matter how much you whine you did took it up the ass lmao.
Yeah will they need to use my money to get up to date in technology.
the voice of retard strikes again……. you are hopeless sheep
they’ve already explained their reasoning.. why are they explaining it yet again?
Little kids learn trough repetition.
Reggie sounds a little angry
Reggie wouldn’t be angry if his dumb ass thought about 2014 back in 2008.
wow you’re getting on my nerves… wanna say it a couple dozen more times? every fricking comment from you here is about the same fucking thing and you’ve posted at least a dozen…
hes actually for once not white knighting nintendo over complete bullshit, his points are correct.
Nah, anyone with business sense or an actual understanding of hardware wouldnt be spouting this shit he is/
all the comments on this site are the same few ppl bitching and complaining. gives me a few laughs, but other than that… this place has a shitty community. Good with the news updates though!
Nintendoeverything and playeressence are better with the news updates than this site.
I think iwata is good president seeing how he dev at one point he knows most of the devs their he has good relationships with them. He is a lot more better then most presidents of a company. Reggie is a cool gut but he isn’t helping nintendo a whole, lot. I think we need a nice ceo like him but one that gets stuff done one thats gets third party more, not one that talks shit all the time like most american ceos.
Not only is Nintendo stuck in 2008, but their dumb asses down graded Darkmoon and Smash Bros for 3DS and thought about down grading Pikmin 3 too. Because of that dumb decision, SSBU lacks features from the past fighting games.
U do realize the reason luigi mansion is on 3ds is because nintendo plan the original to be 3D but it would be to costly to make on gamecube. ssb 3ds is hardly a down grade and big deal if story mode is gone from brawl it wasn’t a fan fav people would rather have adventure mode from melee
Another Nintendo fanboy who accepts everything Nintendo does. Who said anything about adventure mode or story mode. This next Smash game is supposed to get less characters because 3DS can’t handle it. Hell the graphics in next smash look no different.
Have u even seen the next smash? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6la3f5tOw0
So the only way I now know SSBU has better graphics is by comparing it to brawl huh? Proves my point you can’t just tell right away.
Thats because ur stupid
I’m stupid? Ok but SSB4 had to be compared to Brawl to prove it’s graphics were better.
I ain’t never seen no shit were a franchise on a more powerful console has to be compared to an older franchise on a weaker console to prove its graphics are better. You should be able to tell right away. But I’m stupid.
And obviously I wasn’t the only one who thought the graphics looked the same because the person would have never made a video in the first place.
Hell i’m not the troll who thought they were the same.
Yeah because lots of people remember how brawl looked over all. Ur one of very few who needed to see this. Hell my cousin could tell its leap from brawl with out even seeing brawl
Ignoring that Smash on 64 and Melee didn’t need a comparison…… have that seat.
Lets see GameCube is way more powerful than N64. You don’t need a comparison to k ow Melee kills the N64 version. The Wii U is way powerful than Wii yet you need a video comparison to notice a minor change in graphics.
“Yeah because lots of people remember how brawl looked over all. Ur one of very few who needed to see this. Hell my cousin could tell its leap from brawl with out even seeing brawl”
So why 87,000 people view the brawl vs. SSB4 video then?
nintendo should just scrape the 3ds version!! they instead hurt the game itself by making two versions instead of focusing on one big version. they hurt the wii u’s must have game and system seller, who wants to buy the wii u just to play the game when you can just get it for the 3ds that you already probably own. the 3ds also has a lot of good games and people will buy a 3ds to play smash bros over a wii u. smart nintendo….. more stupidity. way to yet again hurt another of your big franchises.
3ds version will be released later due to it requiring more effort the wii u will drop first, plus the smash community is more interest in the wii u version of the game do to bigger screen better feel. the u version will be more competitive play while 3ds will be more casual play on the go. As far as things go with every thing else well have to wait to see what happens to game i’m sure each game will have exclusive stuff that other one doesn’t to help with both versions
I kinda agreed at first, but seeing comments on miiverse made me ealize tons of people are willing to buy both versions, which makes them lots of $$$.
Lol! How bout giving us $50 worth of HDD for early adopters of the console beginning Sept. 20th. JK!
YES! FINALY EVERYONE IS SEEING HOW BAD REGGIE IS!!!!!! IM NOT ALONE!!!!!!
HE IS SO BAD IWATA HAS TO GO ALL THE WAY OVER TO NOA AND DO HIS JOB.
EVEN IWATA IS BETTER AND HE SUCKS!!!!!
And also Nintendo is so dumb they rather patch Darkmoon with online game play with one character than SM3DW with four characters. Does that make any sense, that doesn’t make any sense.
nintendo really needs to stop this insane stupidity. if this was sony they would of been dead all ready. nintendo is just stuck in the past, and everything they do is just stupidity, it pisses me off so bad. nintendo could rule the industry if they operated like sony and even microsoft without like the kinect and stuff.
nintendo have the experience, the franchise, THE MONEY, the technology but they don’t do it. they prefer to be bullied by the other companies that came after them and nintendo fanboys likes to support that. that’s what i hate about nintendo the most.
im glad im not the only one who see’s this and hates it.
i see where nintendo is going with this, why have consumers pay extra when not everyone uses digital downloads.
So it’s fair that digital downloaders have to pay extra? I rather pay extra for something I don’t have then need and don’t have. That’s why PS4 preoders out did Wii U’s.
ok but why are you bringing the ps4 in this? did i say anything about sony no. and it is fair if you want extra you pay for it. its not like they are taking a main feature out and making you pay for it like sony with their online.
The funny part is you’re going to have to get an internal HD for the PS4 too haha
reggie doesnt know what the player wants he only knows what the casual market wants (the rainfall games for one) thanks gamestop and xseed, fuck you reggie, it really looks like people wanted xenoblade bitch!! also the last story bitch!! they sold more than any other region but no you didnt want to bring them to america and didnt if it wasnt for gamestop and then xseed for the other 2. he is a horrible president and need to GTFO!!!!
his track record, PIZZA HUT!!!! are you kidding me!! the cat suite is innovation!!!!! all of this shit now!!!!!
http://youtu.be/zmg8iEz0P9Q?t=43s
this guy cant even play mario kart, he knows nothing about games.
also this is so true,
http://youtu.be/zmg8iEz0P9Q?t=43s
ive said this before about you guys liking reggie being corporate slaves and even if you hate blackbond this is true, this guy is what people who like reggie are like, they like him over games.
A real CEO has gray hair over time. Yet his hair is still black because he’s not thinking like a real CEO.
Reggie is a puppet.
A PR guy.
He’s also a COO… the people who were running NOA are gone now
Yeah. I rather spend $90 for 2TB of space than buying the console for $100 more than its current price for 100-500 GB of built in HDD. I still have 17GB left, so when I run out, I’ll get myself some memory. USB’s also work, so I could also use my 16GB USB and wait out even more time for memory prices to drop.
Yeah well PS4 Owners think otherwise!!!
How your PS4 is going? It’s fine? well…
Ignoring that PS4 per orders out did Wii U per orders and it has wayyyyyy more memory. Talk I g about that dumb excuse it keeps the cost down. And yet PS4 is higher and out did Wii U’s per orders.
People are stupid beyond fix. Nintendo gives a product and all the important info about it. Then they decide to buy it but is not what they want. Why did they buy it on the first place? You should have waited and try to wait for a better product.
Will lets see, first we were promised launch tittles that never came. We were promised that Nintendo was going to grasp more online gameplay 2 years ago for the Project Cafe name at the time, We were promised a lot of 3rd party tittles. We were promised Wii U can handle 2 gamepads. And yet all we got after buying it was a “please understand.”
shit jtz, im glad you can finally see the major faults with nintendo. to any retarded fanboy magically hating what jtz has to say now, maybe you should learn from him. i couldnt say one thing much better than he is saying right now because EVERYTHING he is saying is pre fact and it is bullshit to treat there loyal fans like that.
they also said they wouldnt repeat the problems with the 3ds, they did the exact same thing. they also said it would be years before a wii u price cut. no it just dropped 50$ with a special edition WW bundle, and a digital hyrule historia book too, with in a year. i would have waited if i known but they lied. while the rest of nintendos most loyal costumers got a shitty nintendo land bundle for 350$ with no games for months when they said they wouldnt repeat that mistake.
whats the better deal, and yet they dont even acknowledge the people in the slightest who supported and had to deal with this shit from the start.
“thanks for being such great fans” fuck you nintendo!!
iceazaama if you complain on Miiverse like I’m doing, I hear bitch ass Nintendo kicks you off. That type of info makes any company better.
Nah you can complain in a rational manner instead of being an ignorant tool.
man, calm down, you had miiverse, some fun games as well, you have been an early adopter with all the launch fun that involves. it’s like that with EVERY system launch. every launch of any console EVER. you will always make a better deal after a year, even a better one after 2. it was the same with ps360, psp, vita, will be the same with x1 and ps4. well you get my point. blame yourself, you wont change this. it’s the nature of the electronics market. if you want to save money, be patient, wait at least a year, buy then. simple.
I bought a GameCube and Wii at launch and I Melee came out WHEN Nintendo said it was supposed to come out. Same for Wii games. So I have enough to had believe the same for Wii U.
1+
1++
But did they promisaed you unlimited hard drive space? Did they promised that their games will have online in their first iterations? Also they did promised not crappy games for them no matter how long it took and you accepted.or you would have not bought one.
“But did they promisaed you unlimited hard drive space? Did they promised that their games will have online in their first iterations?”
Another fanboy that accepts anything Nintendo does. If Nintendo offered you a stale cookie, you’d claim it was better than Oreos.
meh, retard.
Lol a change of tone from you. Now you know what I was saying about there games being rehashes and how they need new ideas for their ips. Not (new super boring bros etc) but to the Topic at hand Nintendo continues to use these half ass excuses because of all these fanboys that don’t care. If there was no online Nintendo would give some bullshit like “we believe in tradition and we don’t see a need for online play since many can have that great experience with friends at home and bla bla bla” you get served by a company based on how you take it. Look at xBone they changed all there policies because even there FANBOYS woke up and saw it wasn’t right. Nintendo is ripping there customers. Its 2013 there is no need for a HD console that is “next Gen” to not have online I’m there games. Unifies accounts and alot of memory than a baby 32g HDD. Its sad what Nintendo’s turning into and its all because the blind fanboys or fans in general don’t say shit about it. If they continue this they are going to FALL this holiday seasons to the big consoles that know what they are doing, and that don’t have a shitty president like Reggie
Every single game doesnt need fucking online man.
Thats a waste of fucking money. NintendoLand could benefit from at least having online leaderboards or something though
I suppose this makes some sense. I COULD just get a hard drive later.
Hi guys. This is my first internet. Is it always full of complaints? Customer service needs to help its customers already.
http://newlevelgaming.blogspot.com/
also more shit of why reggie sucks read that shit, he needs to go.
before you bitch about the rainfall games, no, he didnt do anything, gamestop and xseed, thats all you have to know. thanks about caring at all for the fans bitch!!!! go back to pizza hut where the pizza sucks as much as you.
“please understand we feel gamers perfer offline multi player over online. Which is why no Nintendo tittles offers online.”
ur statement is false
So was the announcement of Wii U at last year’s E3 so what’s your point? Please understand!!!
Name me a Wii U Nintendo tittle that offers online for the very first time…… have that seat. So why does it make a fucking differance if my statement is false?
Mario kart 8,smash bros, pikmin 3 (leaderboards), and X. Honestly there has been too many nintendo games that would need online, Mario 3D world is only one that comes to mind but i would only play with friends after playing luigi mansion 2 online it does feel great to play with random people. Nintendo land wouldn’t really benefit online tat much thats about the same, wouldn’t play with random people i rather play with my friends. Shouldn’t u also complained about rayman legends its doesn’t have online and i haven’t heard many people bitch about that
I look at it this way Nintendo commander, I was convinced like Wii Ninte do could prove why you don’t need a super powerful system with 500gigs. For 10 months I kept my belief waited for the games. Online is free only on Wii U yet they still don’t embrace it to take consumers away from rivals. The Vita is a controller for PS4 yet Wii U can handle two GamePads and yet Nintendo aren’t even defending why the GamePad is better. I know the GamePad is better but does the average consumer know? At GamesCom Sony showed the Vita being a controller for the PS4 WAYYY better than Nintendo did. At last year’s E3 they really thought NSMBU was the best demonstration on how the GamePad works? They should have used Ray man Legends as a demonstration on how the GamePad worked. At least Raymond Legends you need your fingers to move switches on and off screen.
If Rayman Legends was demonstrated at the 2012 E3 instead of NSMBU, Ubisoft would never lost their faith to go multi plat with the Game. Trust me. That’s game proved why you want a Wii U and why you really want the double screen experience.
Nintendo land showed more what the game pad could do, along with zombie u, game and wario, and pikmin. Though some are minor doesn’t mean its effect isn’t great on the game
Even though Nintendo Land supported the GamePad at E3 2012, the game did not settle well for consumers because it got the questioning why the Wii U can’t support four GamePads? Why does the other four players have to use Wiimotes? That didn’t help. Same for NSMBU as well. If there dumb asses thought about making the Pro Controller right away during the development of that 2D Mario game, 2012 E3 would have been a lot better.
Every single Wii U title. Miiverse is the online service. It’s not ‘multiplayer’, but it’s still online.
Your ambiguity is delicious.
Miiverse is a game? I thought it was just a chatroom. Also I said name me a Nintendo tittle that has never used online multi plat before and this retard brings up Mario Kart 8 and SSBU.
Pikmin 3 global results is no where near close to a playing against someone in another state in Bingo Battle. If that was the case I wouldn’t be complaining about lack of online play in the first place.
A game like Pikmin 3 doesnt work online man.
If you are getting antsy waiting for the WiiU to pick up get a 3DS.
Full of online over there.
So what’s the cost I wanna know of this 32gb internal flash ssd. 75-100$. Seems like a good plan by ninty have the faster better internal storage for my patches saves system updates etc. And my external for what? Games
Reblogged this on Blog of an e-marketer by Main Uddin.
I bought a 1 TB harddrive for $110.00
I’ve been buying all my wii u games as digital downloads. I just getting tired of finding places to store all my game discs.
You payed way too much for that.
I got a 2TB for 80$. Wasnt even a deal.
I completely agree with Nintendo’s decision to do this. People point it out as a flaw all the time, but a bigger flaw would be racking up the price of the system to include more storage. Allowing the consumer to use any external harddrive they want is much friendlier on your wallet as well.
Was Reggie is saying is actually a very valid point, my brother has a 500gb PS3, plays a lot of games but has only used like 10gb of space, so if the Wii U was 500gb it would have an unnecessary price tag, so point is, if you play a lot of games, buy a harddrive, its honestly not that expensive, and if you play fewer games, you are golden, so its not that big a deal if you think about it
And in other breaking news nintendo explain why water is wet and how wster turns to ice why theres a gient lightbulb in the sky and that the world isnt flat
Lol my hardrives bigger than your harddrive im more core than u
Jesus sony and ms fans are derp shits
I can get a wiiu compatable drive for a few pounds lol not 500 pounds like xbone and its obsolete controller
My hardrives soooo long and black look at my porn drive
Derp shit gamers lol with your retard shock 4
Mouse pointers and core advanced controller choice is GAMING harddrives are just storage devicez lol at the forum wars about hd size CASUAL SCUM TRYING TO LOOK ALL PC GAMER NINTENDO KNOWD ITS ALLLLL BS
if you stay like that you will be a virgin. forever.
Pingback: Reggie Fils-Aime explica por qué Nintendo se decidió por los 32 GB como memoria interna máxima de Wii U | www.nextn.net
1. Another “controversial news”, another day with recycled longdrawn comments…
2. Voice of Reason: “Nintendo gave us information about the content and gameplay for all games, so why did you buy them if you complain about it?”, agreed to this statement 100%…
3. jtz, I don’t know if you suffer from some sort of schizofrenia or something because as soon as our empire announces something good you praise and defend them without mercy but as soon as they announce or say something that you don’t agree with it’s all about bashing them as much as possible forgetting everything good they have said…
And if you bought Pikmin 3 knowing that it had no online gameplay prior to its launch then why on earth are you even complaining?…
4. People still seem to be utterly confused about how to use the word Next Gen when it comes to new consoles…
In these situations, Next Gen is refered to the beginning of a new generation ERA of new consoles that has nothing to do with their corresponding specs…
5. And if you all hate or dislike Nintendo so much, what are you all doing in here?, it’s a more waste of time than their poor use of the Gamepad right now…
criticizing isn’t hating i think you are badly mistaken. criticizing a company for their bad business practicing and decision isn’t hating the company in general, supporting the bad decisions its by far worse, you are confusing you enemies Mr ”commander”. if we don’t give our voice of reasons (no pun intended) they wont make any progress, look at what happened to the xbone. i hate Nintendo, i hate that they are the oldest gaming company in gaming and get step on by developers and rival companies. they have the resources, they have the franchise, they have the technology and they have the money and still they don’t do nothing. i will still give them support as a fan but i will criticize then until they change because me and everyone and even jtz knows that they can.
Yes but complaining about things after you bought them doesn’t make any sense whatsoever if you knew what you got yourself into…
I don’t mind criticizing High Command’s descisions but how about being more constructive instead of shouting out half-arsed critics that nobody takes seriously, specially them…
And it doesn’t make any sense defending Nintendo to the core as soon as some good news is posted and the next minute bashing it with no limits when a “bad” one is posted…
That’s not logical…
I have the right to complain after I bought the Wii U at launch. I bought a GameCube and Wii at launch and never had a problem with launch tittles. Wii was weakest in class but Nintedno proved to 100 million people why you dont need a souped up. system Sadly they cant do the same with Wii U. Also.car manufacturers listen to customer feedback and complaintsand use it to make it better. Which is why the 2014 Kia Cadenza received awesome reviews because they learned from the past. Kia was crap years ago…..not anymore. But you Nintendo fans is what keeps Nintendo behind on everything.
Not if you buy a game you already know what it has or doesn’t have…
You can’t complain about Pikmin 3 not having online multiplayer fully aware before you bought it that it didn’t have any, that is just not a logical thing to do…
And if people wants to complain how about doing so in a constructive aggressive manner without yelling and cursing to them?…
That doesn’t get anyone anywhere because nobody takes you seriously…
THATS FUNNY COMMANDER. Didn’t complaints allow Dark moon to get online multiplayer? I wonder why? Oh because of the complaints. So what if the patch up Pikmin 3 and 3DMario world to do it too?
But do people even play these online multiplayer that much?…
I rather have them make a game with online multiplayer intended from the beginning than just adding some abysmal crap…
Remember Metroid Prime Echoes multiplayer?…
They added that in the last minute and what a useless feature it was, I don’t want our empire to do things just because they must…
If anything how about asking them to implement online multiplayer for Pikmin 4 or the next SM3DW?…
Although to be honest I can see a patch for SM3DW…
Good point commander. I’m still going to buy these games because I admit Nintendo makes the best software and good ass hardware but the dumbest decision. I want them to read my complaints and use them to improve software. Also, we don’t even know what that big as upgrade could do. Some people say it could free up mor gigs for gaming. Some even say it will open up that GPUPU of unknown 30% of info. Who knows but its a reason why they pushed it back to fall.
I hope it boosts its performance atleast…
I don’t recall a single launch game on the Wii U that was worth buying the Wii U for, and I was perfectly aware of which games were being delayed, so in the end, you didn’t get screwed over by Nintendo, you got screwed over by your idea of what qualifies as a good launch game and by your poor judgment. That’s why I don’t have a Wii U right now and you do, and out of the two of us, only one is crying and it definitely isn’t me.
Read the news and make a better buying decision next time. It’s your own damn fault for making bad investments, and buying a product at launch is not going to make you a better fan nor will it make the product suddenly better. In the end, it’s just a product, and you’re just a person who bought it. Either you like it or you hate it. There is no magic behind it.
“I don’t recall a single launch game on the Wii U that was worth buying the Wii U for, and I was perfectly aware of which games were being delayed, so in the end, you didn’t get screwed over by Nintendo, you got screwed over by your idea of what qualifies as a good launch game and by your poor judgment. ”
I bought the Wii U for Raymand Legends and Pikmin 3. Like Nintendo’s older consoles, those launch games arrived on time. So I assumed same thing about Wii U.
To you and to everyone who critisizes Nintendo:
I agree it’s better to show negative feedback than just go over mistakes, but I would suggest doing it over miiverse (politely or you’ll get banned like a moron) or any other mean that Nintendo actually reads, because the only people reading your complaints here are other Nintendo gamers. You can still express your opinions (and vent your frustrations, I suppose) here. Just saying your opinions will make more of an impact there than here.
Sincerely,
Another guy named Luis
The irony is the WiiU’s specs are next gen in the sense that infinity ward considers in “next gen”
Look the PS4/xbox one are last gen pc’s
So eh. WiiU has a different kind of set up that can get a lot of power out the very efficient hardware consuming way less electricity
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7g-K0bvmOs
This vid reminds me about this site.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BErSKWmp3I
And this describes their “arguments”…
Only thing I can think of to complain about hardware, is that they used USB 2.0.
SSD gives you no advantage at all, and even the slowest spinners on the market today gets bottlenecked by measly 480Mbit/s.
It’s much more power-efficient, which I believe they were aiming for when designing the Wii U (+ making the console have a compact size. It’s not that much bigger than the Wii.
on topic. i think it’s a great busines model. you can pick up the basic model for 200 at many places.. you can start playing instantly. if you, at some point, want to play even more, want dlc and indie games, you can buy a 2 tb hdd for 60 almost everywhere these days. that’s a 2tb wiiu for 260. pretty good deal if you ask me.
@many posters. calling others names, calling every second poster a fanboy only does water down this page.
this page is called my nintendo news btw, sure it has people that are huge nintendo enthusiasts posting or at least people that enjoy their games and systems…does not mean they’re the blind, marketing prey, fanboy type.
Most just loves to hate on our empire for whatever pathetic reason…
I just want to play the games I love and that’s it…
I’m only disappointed that they have not put the Gamepad to it’s actual potential yet…
check out rayman legends coop. it’s REALLY REALLY good!
Ok, I’ll check it out…
But I meant from Nintendo’s part…
Yeah, I hope they have better ideas for Metroid than what they were talking about
I’m totally disappointed about this too. It was like with the Wiimote: It also didn’t live up to its full potential.
yeah, i hear you. i really love the off tv play thing. i use that a lot but that’s not exactly groundbreaking (still an amazing feature and a reason why i play on wiiu more than on my ps3 or 360 these days).
i hope they will deliver. maybe miyamotos new ip? i bet the next zelda (not wwhd) will implement some nice touchpad features. i cannot wait for wwhd, mk8, ssb, dk tropical, mario3dworld. those look like they will be great games but again, i cannot see huge potential for the gamepad in those. mk8’s 2 player couch coop will be a huge thing for me though, or playing online, me on the telly, friend on the pad racing against the world. looking forward to that.
This comment section is just sad.
You are absolutely right. So many people comaining about Nintendo like it’s their fat girlfriend.
When did it become a BAD thing to say “I’m a gamer and I like Nintendo”? Why do people feel like they only sound sensible if they criticise or even loathe Nintendo?
This is why I love Nintendo ^-^ I’m not a fan of digital downloads, so who needs 32GBs? (Although I got the premium console anyway but I download demos :D And Pokemon Rumble U and other VC but only cause there is no physical copies)
Excuses. Nintendo is just too greedy :P
hmmm, ok, I can see why. But…you could have offered a bigger memory choice but in my current, I’m glad you didn’t.
NINTENDO IS FUCKING GAY
I LIKE BEING FUCKING GAY
ARE YOU A HOMOPHOBE?
Yet Sony is able to make the most powerful console this coming gen with a 500GB storage for only £350, but the Wii U launched in at £310 (Premium model) so who is it saving money for the consumer?
Nintendo, I like you seeing how I’m an unbiased Sony fan and I can see you are trying your hardest to help consumers keep more pennies in their pockets but come on. A Wii U with 500GB of storage isn’t going to cost much seeing how the Wii U’s specs aren’t as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox One, this means you could sell the console for like £270 and it would still be a much better deal for parents who can’t afford a PS4 or an Xbox One.
It’s not the machine or it’s specs that adds to the price, it’s the GamePad.
The gamepad actually costs about $35 to make…. same amount of money Microsoft used to create the original kinect on the Xbox 360. So really no, they really don’t have an accuse.
exactly
Don’t forget that Nintendo is using SSD storage, not HDD.
That’s well good and all, but you only support USB 2.0, which means i HAVE to get an external HDD with it’s own power supply in order for it to work properly and quick enough. Talking about value is fine and everything, but it enforces us to buy an external HDD as new upgrades come along. On top of that, us who bought the Wii U Basic Set (god forbid anybody should buy something cheaper ’cause money don’t hang on the trees), we’re left out of the digital bargains. We cannot get any e-shop offers, and i guess it’s our own fault, but at least 120 gigs would’ve covered a few games, heck a mild 40 gigs like when the PS3 came out would’ve been cool
Well, you got a sound logic there…seeing how I have a basic and a 500GB Toshiba External Hard Drive.
If you want more memory buy an external hardrive. Wow, that’s hard.
But you need one with a power supply meaning you are using up more electricity so yeah…. it actually is kind of hard.
Sigh, stop having a whinge.
So I’m “whinging” yet you are the one whining about people who complain about the small space. Yeah, you are a bit of a hypocrite because you know I’m right.
I have no idea why I ever argued with you. You’re one with common sense!
LOL, dam…but I’ll give props for that one. Chris can be a pain at times but he is reasonable. Cheers to ya chris.
As long as you can add a hard drive or whatever for more memory, why does it matter if it comes with ANY internal memory?
i have a white wiiu and a white toshiba 2TB hdd. 260 Euro (!) in total.
They match perfectly, i love it, price was great. future proof.
really really liked that i had the option to decide what i want, to look for a hdd that would fit my needs and budget.
i connected it to the wiiu and it worked flawlessly within seconds. downloaded rayman challenge, runner 2 and luigi u instantly. everything runs as smooth as butter.
all these complainers over literally nothing. it really became such an annoyance in gaming in genreal.
sometimes i think people take more time to complain about stuff on the internet than for actually playing games.
This is part of their mistake, not enough memory, storage or RAM, weak CPU, name WiiU is really stupid, no killer game on launch. It’s nice they made a LOZ Windwaker HD, but they should do it with Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Ocarina in Time, and Majora’s Mask. Do it all in a collection. Also an HD remake of Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxies 1,2, Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 1,2,3. A Metroid game sometime this decade.
Another mistake from Nintendo is 2DS. They made because everyone can’t see 3D or afford it. Yet many people paid for NSMBU, Nintendo Land and Pikmin 3 and never played multi player mode yet they paid the same price someone can play every mode with. Too stupid to have thought about that during those game’s development.
Whoever defends this is a fanboy. Oh wait! This site is full of them!
Defend what?
Sooooo….. what does that say about you…. about visiting this site so often….. no Sh*t this site is full of Nintendo fanboys, Im a Nintendo “fanboy” after all this site is called MyNintendoNews.com what types of fanboys did you think you will find? Sony fanboys? im pretty sure than they have their own site, go there cause we talk Nintendo here partner :-)
Had a spare 1TB HDD lying around, so this has never been a problem for me.
A 32GB Wii U + an external 1TB HDD is still cheaper than an Xbox One.
And a PS4.
I have advice for not only Nintendo fans but all people of this gaming world:
I don’t F%@king care if Nintendo lose the next 100 console wars or win the next 100 wars, I don’t give a flaming Sh!t, I would just be happy that Nintendo are around for the next 100 console wars, honestly, if everyone hate Nintendo, don’t buy the console, its either not for your taste, or your not worthy of it, it cant be simpler than that,
As for people saying the name “Wii U” is so stupid, REALLY!?!? come on like Xbox one is creative, does that mean people will assume it is the first Xbox to come out instead of the successor, oooo lets shun it because of that minor factor, Wii U, its honestly not that bad,
Deal with it and always remember….
Don’t be an internet retard
Most consumers don’t even download games, they purchase them retail so a 32gb or 8 is is enough, Most of my friends have more than half of their original hdd space on xbox, PS3 etc. My Wii had a 4gb SD card and I never used up all that space, Yes I do download indie games, virtual console. I also have 250gb Xbox 360 with over 100gb space left over. My point is that most people just want to just play games and will by at retail. I think as die hard gamers we tend to put everyone in one box.
Phones brah, the phone games.
Everyone downloads
Seriously dude? Cloud storage, have you ever scratched a cloud disc? Had to wipe the smudges off. Had a console scratch grooves in your game discs?? iTunes, apps, games. Downloads are in. Physical discs are out like old music CDs.
The first game maker that comes out with an iTunes like environment in the cloud to buy their games will make a buttload of cash.
Well, lucky for me, I already have a good terabyte of a hard drive. But I like actually owning Nintendo games, so I don’t think I’ll use it much.
no HDD no installation. reggie you tech noob, look how long splinter cell blacklist loads
Incredible points!Great argument. Some very good discussion on this thanks for your informative post….
Nintendo Explains Why Wii U’s Largest Built-In Storage Solution is Only 32GB | My Nintendo News
Let the consumer make the choice right? Like I can find no standalone Wii U and every console is bundled with a freaking game I don’t want. Games that are adding to the price, like how memory would add to the price. Fucking hypocrites.
This will be the last Wii I ever buy. I am obviously a dummy consumer that did not figure out our deluxe system would not be able to download the $50 game we bought at the online store. And you go to data management and can only move around tiny MB of storage that gets you NO where.
Hey MR. nintendo CEO! Here is a brilliant marketing technique…. If memory is so cheap, then PUT IN A HDD IN YOUR CONSOLE AND DONT TRY TO PULL SOMETHING OVER THE CUSTOMER BY JACKING UP THE PRICE POINT!!
Bought my son the PS4 and next one for my daughter will be an Xbox1. I was fooled by nintendo, but never again.
You obviously know nothing about SSD. It’s more expensive, true, but the fact is that it is at LEAST 3x faster than an HDD. Also, it generates less heat than an HDD, meaning the more efficient heat sink doesn’t have to do too much more. Also, a SSD uses less electricity than an HDD, making it a more “green” choice. If memory is really an obstacle for you, just swallow an extra $50 and buy a 1TB external HDD.
I swear, why are people still bitching over this frackin’ non-issue like it’s the end of the world? Good luck with your PS4, it’ll be a good system, and enjoy your Spybox Fail. Hope you don’t have objections to traffic cameras, because you’re inviting the NSA to spy on you. Really hope your kids don’t swear, since they’ll be banned for that.
Wow…this article makes a really weak point…kudos to their marketing team though – turning a negative to a positive and getting people to believe it.
My issues with this…
1.Why not allow for internal upgrade – needless physical shelf space + wires
2.USB 2.0…why – speed limit means even if I wanted to use an SSD for external storage, it would be pointless
3.From what I have read (though could be wrong) but it’s recommended to use a power external HDD as the usb might not have enough power supplied to a portable one i.e. bigger bulk + another wire to stick into the power socket
Point 3. would be the biggest draw back for me and would loved to have an internal slot for a hdd like with the ps3…I really can’t see the advantage to having an external usb2.0 slot for additional disk space.
I like having the physical games and like having the actual boxes. Then Mario Kart 8 came out and I didn’t have time to run to the store because of many things I had to do at home before company came. I decided to DL it to my Wii U from the eShop and I have to say it was so convenient. I really think I’ll be DL games digitally now.
Why is everyone complaining about an external drive? I got the 32GB because I wanted a black Wii U to match the rest of my electronics but I would of bought an 8GB since I have 3 external HDDs already laying around anyway (250GB, 2TB, 500GB). Works great for me.
