Nintendo Believes That Wind Waker HD Can Be A Wii U System Seller

zelda_wind_waker_north_american_box_art

Nintendo UK firmly believes that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD could be a Wii U system seller when it’s released in the United Kingdom on October 4th. The company hopes that the Wind Waker HD will perform on Wii U the way that Ocarina of Time performed on the Nintendo 3DS. Do you think Wind Waker HD will shift substantial amounts of Wii U consoles?

“It is the perfect time for Zelda fans to discover Wii U. For many Zelda fans, this is the first time that they’ll discover Wind Waker and we’re treating the game as a triple-A new release. Ocarina of Time 3D performed positively on Nintendo 3DS and we’re looking to replicate this success with The Wind Waker HD.”

      1. Oh no, definitely more than that. It’s not that bad, and the number you just listed is insultingly low. It’s already sold 3.5 mil (if I recall correctly) so 5 million is not reasonable. I’d say… probably 60 million if there is no games after Smash Bros. If Miyamoto’s new IP is as successful as at least Pikmin, then 82.4 million. If his new IP is as successful as old-school Mario, or surpass it, then probably 150 million.

      1. Because back then people didn’t really like the art style but now since more people have played the game and have started liking the game I believe this time around it will be a system seller

    1. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Nintendo had released almost only Wii ports and now this why they make new console for the same garbage even if console to have potential Nintendo never gonna use it with this 20 years old games with PS1 and PS2 graphics

      1. Nintendo Land: Not a Wii port.
New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U: Similar, but not a port.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD: Actually, more of a remake because if fixes problems people had with it rather than upscale everything. But I guess it could be considered a port.
Wii Sports Club: Yep, an HD port.
Pikmin 3: Not a Wii port.
Game & Wario: Not a Wii port.
Wonderful 101: Not a Wii port.
Wii Fit U: It’s called a sequel, dumba**.

If you tried running Wind Waker on PS2, it’d look worse than GameCube as it is less powerful.

Also, my imitation of you: Ehrmaigersh dis iz a counsl 4 kdz . nitenw cnt eeeevn mk fukn wiui gmz LOLOLOOLOL PS2 iz best sllin cosl even do ds outsld it im disbelievin SUonY a l l da wy aheererere

        1. All casual, mostly shovelware, unoriginal, copypaste formula kiddie shit playing the catch up game with advancements and just now have HD, have yet to include more multplayer online integration features, yet charge about the same price as others that do include them do.
BTW, how’s that merging accounts coming along? At least Nintendo recognized the problem…about a year after the Wii U was released and have known about that kind of problem for more than that. That’s progress right…? Maybe in about three more years they’ll finally give a straight answer and say they can’t do it due to complications.

      2. What are you talking about? Wii U is 50% more powerful than ps3… And check out the wind waker hd graphics, they are heavy. You really sound like a microsoft fanboy lol

    1. me too, it is a system seller
people have really fond memories of this game and the remake lives up to the expectations

and it makes me soooooo hyped for the next zelda too!

      1. Even if someone did count that, Wind Waker HD is the first FULL HD (1080p; 60fps) Zelda game. Pretty happy I was alive when this was released. I can tell this story to my grandchildren…

  1. I am certainly going to get this game however I don’t believe it will shift significant numbers of consoles. The original WW was one of the w

  2. ;/ So far, it doesn’t seem so. At least not in my area. My friends who work in games retail (GameStop, Best Buy, and Toys R Us) have said that nobody is buying the Wii U WW HD bundle.

In fact, I was at Best Buy on Friday, saw a family buying a Wii U – the sales guy tried to sell them the WW HD bundle, but they completely refused and just went with the regular deluxe edition. I went back the next day to pick up one of my orders and asked the guy if anyone else bought one, he said nope (although they did sell more deluxe editions).

There was still a pile of WW HD bundles untouched in the front of the store too. ;/

    1. I know PLENTY of people who are buying a Wii U just for Wind Waker. Plus people all over the internet are finally saying that it is a good deal to buy the Wii U, especially with that price cut!! Makes the system seem worth it.

      1. I know a few people waiting on the physical copy of the game to come out (myself included). I also know some who are planning on picking up the WW HD bundle, or a Wii U when the physical copy comes out. These are mostly folks online though.

Other than that, there aren’t too many people who are buying it around my area. ‘Tis all.

    2. Simply G,That’s crazy since they both cost $299. But I guess N land is a better game for a family..Which I don’t think it comes with the Z U bundle. But you can buy N land dirt cheap.

      1. Yeah. I think what’s turning a lot of people off is the fact that it’s the download voucher included in the bundle and the fact that it’s a single player game. On the other hand, they can get the deluxe bundle with Nintendo Land on disc that can have local multiplayer.

Of course there are Zelda fans who will get the bundle, but overall, it doesn’t seem to be a system seller here.

    1. ummm, you’re statement has already been proved wrong with the release of Orcarina of Time 3DS. Oot was a system seller.

It is the reason “I” bought a 3DS actually.

      1. You are sounding salty! Like the Sony fans that discovered monster hunter sold 2 million copies in 2 days. That’s more games than vita has sold in 2 years. F=Ma.

        1. Uh, no. Kudos to Capcom for selling a lot of copies of a great franchise. Why would that bother me? If they ever localize it here, I plan on getting it for my 3DS.

        1. Well, I live in Miami. So… I don’t know. I see a few people buying Wii U’s, but since Friday, I personally haven’t seen or heard of any of the WW HD bundle being sold much. Obviously I’m sure there are people who bought it, but it’s not droves.

      2. You must live in a Nintendo-hating area, because I have heard from my closest Gamestop that WW Bundles are sold out and that WW Preorder Figurine bundles are sold out as well.

Also, I’ve heard the same at, at least 2 other Gamestops in surrounding towns near where I live.

      3. I live in a small city (but big enough that Nintendo Experience 2013 came to my city!) and Wind Waker’s sold out both online and in stores (figurine, [guess there’s fellow nerds where I live] bundle, everything) except a bundle I saw one of at the mall yesterday, but that might be gone too.

        1. I live in a rather large area: Miami. We had the Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses concert tour here, we have had The Nintendo Experience here, and other Nintendo related events and promotions. Those usually go very well. When I went to the Symphony of the Goddesses, it was a fairly packed house.

Still… The Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle isn’t moving much down here. I see more people going for the regular deluxe bundle over the WW HD bundle. Still stacks everywhere. ;/

    1. it is not THE system seller, with smash, 3d mario, new zelda, monolith soft’s X, Mario kart 8 still in the works you cant say WW HD is the biggest system seller but it’s definitely one

        1. X will do very well, it shall be released in Japan with the acclamation Xenoblade Chronicles received. They will use that hype to add operation rainfall flair. I bet operation rainfall shall hype that game as well. So stop being a hater and smile enjoy life for once.

        2. nooblet68,I have seen a lot of 101 ad’s.But I do know what you mean they need to run way more ad’s then they do.When I was growing up in the 80’s and 90’s every other ad you saw was for a Nintendo game.lol

    2. A game that 10 year old children or younger would consider be brand new and ask their parents to buy it for them. Yeah, didn’t think about those people, did you?

  3. it will shift some units like pikmin did but its not gonna be a system seller. i went to wal-mart yesterday and i saw alot of WWHD bundles stack up. it would be a system seller if it was released on the wii u launch day.

    1. Exactly. It’s the same thing here where I live. Stores have stacks of the bundle which aren’t selling. I mean, obviously some people are going to buy Wii U’s for the game, but it isn’t going to be a significant amount of people.

      1. Dude you are seeing WiiU moving well and rising. I smell your fear of the WiiU winning generation 8. Especially since now even gaffers and IGN sonyans are seeing that 1080P-60fps is easiest on the WiiU. Holiday season is here, keep that in mind, the console is selling steadily, come black Friday when even sonic lost world and maybe even Mario 3D world are out it’s smiles in nintendo world. People still forget that we nintendo gamers are still the majority. We only buy quality lengthy titles that’s the reason of the slow pace. Blacklist 2/3rds list is proof of that. The WiiU is selling how consumer electronics should sale, slow and steady.

    2. I agree. They missed the boat on it being a system seller. Should have waited to build / launch a next Gen system AFTER they had a good idea how to develop next Gen games.

People don’t care anymore, Nintendo ruined the WiiU’s reputation by struggling with software development, delays, and just having “Wii” in the name.

People think “WiiU” = “Casual, underpowered U”

I don’t believe it is a casual, underpowered machine, but Nintendo fucked it up and that’s what people think. Every fucking person I’ve talked to. I’m embarrassed to call it a WiiU, so I just say, “Nintendo’s new system” :(

      1. People think “WiiU” = “Casual, underpowered U”

I’m pretty sure most people don’t think like that. Those are mainly from gamers who joins gaming forums, they are a vocal minority (just like here).

        1. If that were the case, then the Wii U would be selling more, since the other “majority” of yes men think it’s a great system! I’m honestly surprised the Wii U isn’t selling as well as the Wii, since both are just about the same quality of feces.

          1. I did not say that and you’re ignoring the context of what I wrote.

If the “core & power” thinking was more widespread, most people would either be gaming on PC or Mobile. Wii, PS3, X360, Kinect, Move, DS/3DS would not have sold as well as they did. PS3/X360 were underpowered the year they were released (most gamers have never mentioned it and accused both as casual). PS4/X1 were underpowered even before they were announced. PS4 and X1 are also casual with that kind of logic.

The average person don’t know what the hell “Hz” is and “shaders and cores” are. Casual and core are media terms that have only recently been popularised, most people never saw themselves as one or the other.

How much consumers think like this, “this is a powerful hardcore console”? Mostly, just graphics whores and fanboys who feel invested. Not your average consumer.

            This is the Important part:
Your average consumer probably thinking more about games they want to play, how can they play them, and the price they have to pay to pay them. Less about core/casual and power
The perfect example is 3DS, perfectly underpowered. Yet, MH4(a “core” game) sold massive amounts in 2-3 days on this underpowered handheld.

            1. The 1st part of my reply’s in the bottom. I forgot to click the ‘reply’ button.

PS2 was also less powerful than the GC, which PPL at 1st thought the reverse. I agree that the average consumer’s thinking more abt. games they want, price, convienience…

        2. Maybe SSBU will make up for all the bad Wii U flaws and sweep those unfixed ignored problems the pesky fans have been complaining about for a while under the rug.
          …Hopefully!

      2. As usual, I agree with you Jaded. It’s like I don’t even have to post here (not that I do very often). You usually post exactly what I’m thinking. Keep it up and fight the good fight for me haha.

      3. Should’ve…but knowing Cheaptendo they’d rather bundle shitty games like Wii Fit or Resort games. I think the Wii Utanic’s at least more powerful than a regular Wii, but likely not more than PS4 or Xbone. 80% Casual games = casual machine.

  4. I bought a Wii U on release day and I’m still waiting for good games! I want new games, not re-releases all the time. I only own like 4 Wii U games…..

    1. Same and same, I bought on release and own 4, I do like the games but it’ll be so much better with Wind Waker HD, as well as Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and maybe Sonic too!

    2. Really? got mine at launch and I have 13 games, 5 eshop titles and 10 VC games. I also retired my xbox and haven’t renewed my Live subscription.

  5. It was for me. I was already planning on getting it, but the price drop + the amazing WW bundle allowed me to buy a WiiU a lot faster.

  6. Selling a remake of an old game that basically remained the same. They just added the letters HD at the end of the title and changed the resolution. Same old primitive 2 generations old trees and evironments. They couldn’t bother to up the polygon count on their primitive models. They couldn’t bother to add those dungeons that weren’t included in the original. Same old sound effects they been using in their games for the past 30 years. And they sell it as a AAA title price as if it was a brand new game when it just a remake of a 10 year old game with absolutley nothing new added, like I just said, they couldn’t even bother to add those new dungeons. Their lineup is so pathetic that remakes of old games are considred AAA titles. LOLOL! Only ones buying this are the blind fanboys and the babies.

    1. that’s pretty funny because:
      -they changed some models
-they modified the triforce collecting part at the end
-they made new items (fast sail, tingle thingy)
-they improved the animation on the hookshot
      -they improved the soundtrack

pretty much everything you said they didnt do, they did

      1. And as Aonuma stated, they already used the cut dungeons in future Zelda games so we already got those dungeons.

Plus it’s impressive that a 10 year old game has aged so beautifully that all they need to do is make a few tweaks (Swift Sail, shorter triforce quest) and add HD and better lighting to make a game that is still awesome today.

        I’m excited.

        1. He could have easily made that up so doesn’t have to spend more money and time to add those missing dungeons to WWHD and since he didn’t say which dungeons were used in TP its a very high possibility that he’s lying but you all will believe any excuse from a anyone that works for Nintendo

          1. What do you know about Aonuma that makes you think he is dishonest? If you don’t know him that well then you are making more of a blind statement than he is.

              1. If that were the case, I wouldn’t want them to add the duneons because they were too crappy to add to Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, apparantly.

              2. And also, if you say they should have just made two more new ones, I would rather have them use their good ideas (and manpower and resources) towards Legend of Zelda Wii U.

Wind Waker was a fine game to start with and they did fine improvents… but it’s time to move on next Zelda.

                1. They are, read some news, the next incoming zelda title is going to be the biggest zelda ever, and the most expensive game in the history of nintendo, that’s why they made wind waker HD, just to help us wait for the real wii u zelda title

      2. Katamari has no idea what how HD works. Changing the resolution also mean changing the textures. You can’t take small texture and just blow it up in HD, it would look blurry as shit. The charp polygon look can be seen as an art style choice.
And to add to what Anony said:
        – change the skybox (along with colors for subtle art style change),
        – improved lightning and shadows (this is bigger than it sounds, a lot of the graphical advancement in the last few year, now, and future involves lightning)
        – changed controls, use gyro, use 2nd screen (last two again are bigger than it sounds)
        – streamlined and improved pretty much everything people had complaints with
        – current AAAs are usually price $60 or more

    2. What games does Sony and Microsoft first party make that can rival Nintendo’s seal of quality games? Tell me a Sony game, not the wannabe god in a skirt, or sack boy, let me ask Microsoft xbots also. What first party games do you have that can keep a console afloat? 100 million spent on a controller for a console that might be their last, fable? Halo ( Metroid copy by the way through and through ), gears of grey scale LOL.

      1. Nintendo fanboys are the worst and the most ignorant. Games that can rival. Uncharted for Sony and halo for Xbox which sells WAAAAY better than metroid LOL

      2. Gamer,The last of us is a sony first party game and it is mind blowing how good it is.A game that comes but once in a life time and a game every gamer needs to experience. And that is just one resent example. It’s ok to love Nintendo most of us on the site do.But there are great games on other systems also.To say other wise is just wrong.I alway’s end up getting all the system’s so I don’t have to hate on the others great exclusive games.Take off your blinders and see while Nintendo makes great games, they don’t hold the patent on it.Gaming should be about having fun not a war over who’s system is better. It is a very safe bet if you buy any of the big 3’s consoles your going to get some great games over the next 8 plus years. It is not the gamble it once was anymore.

    3. “They just added the letters HD at the end of the title and changed the resolution.”

No, that’s a port, like all the “HD” collections on the PS3.

      A remake is entirely different.

  7. I don’t think it’ll be ‘the’ system seller, but it will be one of the game changers, for sure. More titles along the way too, including a price drop (certainly in Europe).

  8. Omg I laughed so hard at this.

I mean, I’d WANT it to be, but come on, who the fuck do they think they’re kidding?

I guess they didn’t choose a new Metroid Prime game as their “system seller” because they want to believe that “nothing’s impossible,” and that relying upon an obvious system seller such as a new Metroid Prime game would have countered that maxim.

    1. Sadly, Metroid Prime games haven’t sold as many as Donkey Kong or NSMB or Legend of Zelda games.

Metroid Prime games are fantastic, but thry aren’t system sellers.

  9. it would have been if the game was more than just an hd remaster with nothing new whatsoever. hero mode and that stupid miiverse bottle shit doesn’t count.

      1. Don’t forget they retweaked allot of the animation, making some of the longer repetitive scenes shorter (i.e. getting treasure from the ocean).

        1. Really. Its just not a real remake. I can get the same experience on my gamecube version. Now a real remake was OOT 3ds, they re-did everything from the ground up, EVERYTHING looked new. From the marketplace to the temples to attack animations

          1. Well, you can’t tell as well as you could with OoT, but did you see the sky in Wind Waker HD? The lighting? The sped-up animations? The HD models? The new items and features? Better control scheme? No, sir. Just wanting to hate Wii U.

            1. You can achieve that on dolphin emulator with proper setting which is why its nothing special, however no matter what settings you use for the n64 OOT on an emulator it will never look as good as the 3ds remake. Big difference. So it’s not Wii U hating its just stating facts

              1. Really? watch out the hd textures for ocarina of time on project 64. The truth is, wind waker hd is better than dolphin version, just because they worked enviroment and shadows, sky and everything way better than you can achieve on the dolphin, believe me ive compared them cuz i have it on wii u and dolphin with ultra settings.

  10. Absolutely not. Its Just a lazy remake with nothing special added. Nothing coming up this holiday season is going to be a “system seller” for the Wii U and anyone that believes that is just a stupid fanboy

    1. I’m guessing you haven’t seen the shit load of lazy remakes on the PS3/360 then, have you? Because I can remember that most of those “HD Remakes” weren’t really “HD” and more just a slightly prettier resolution while this game improves on more things. The graphics look more stunning, the animation looks better, some new gameplay elements, reworked Tingle Stuff and so on. I’d say it was more of a well done port than a “Lazy port”

Now Zone of the Enders HD, now that is a lazy port

      1. I’m well aware about the lazy remakes Sony and Xbox give us and I bash them too but this is about the WWHD remake not any other so that was irrelevant to mention. On topic tho there aren’t any new animations. Link still fights the same, same voice. Same attack sounds. Same music (not remastered). Same combos, no new dungeons or quest items etc. Its the same game just added bloom and higher resolution nothing special at all

            1. This:
              [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=or8y5EC1_Rs&w=560&h=315]
              And this:
              [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71ku7w2rGMI&w=420&h=315]

I sure as heck can hear it.

  11. The Miiverse community counter for Wind Waker HD is already clocking in at 33K+
And… it’s only out digitally and in bundles in the US right? For only 5 days?

    Not too shabby.

    1. Most posters are hurt that the WiiU is selling steadily on upwards. By the time Mario, Donkey Kong and Sonic arrive it’s happy trails onward to 3DS prosperity. Most Sony drones and xbots fear that the WiiU will have 3DS success. 1080P-60fps consistency on the WiiU is worrying a lot of the other two companies fans. Especially since their next gen machines are either failing to clock 1080P with 8 cores or are running 1080P with 15fps. In the Xbone’s case 900P-30 fps for ryse.

        1. Its true man, Killer Instinct is 720p 60fps, and anything that hinders the FPS they’re cutting it out, for Rise check IGN, they posted an article i think it was named: Rise will run on 900p native (30fps). Killzone is 1080p 30fps on single player. The new Gen is struggling with 1080p & 60fps.

          1. So is Wii U seeing as how WWHD is 1080p 30fps. If a game like that can’t be 60fps on Wii U I feel bad for future titles

  12. Was it not for all the things bringing the Wii U down with regards to value, yes i could be a system seller, but the console has killed itself long ago with the GamePad and lack of 3rd party support.

  13. I don’t think people are going to run out and pay $300 for the Wii U bundle, maybe a Zelda fan like me but not most gamers. The Wii U has to make more games to sell the system, more good games, I am excited about Wii Sports Club HD and Wii Fit U sounds interesting. I hope they make more HD games like Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword with motion plus control, HD and gameplay enhancements like Windwaker, both on the same package, Super Mario Sunshine, Galaxy 1 & 2 HD and Punch Out Wii with online multiplayer and motion plus controls.

    1. Now here’s someone with a brain on this website. WWHD is mainly only appealing to the Zelda fans which is why it won’t move systems.

      1. That’s based on the assumption every Zelda fan has already bought a Wii U.

I’m sure there’s plenty of Zelda fans out there who have held out on buying a Wii U and this will be a good incentive to make the purchase.

          1. Now youvre going on the assumption every Zelda fan still owns the original and a gamceube (or Wii and GC controller).

And if they do, that’s still a big testament at how good the game is and how appealing it’d be to play again remastered.

  14. I looked at the pretty box with zelda and really wanted to buy it. But I already have a Wii U with plenty of VC downloads. Now if I could have my downloads on a second Wii U without re-buying then I would have bought this bundle, But as it stands I will only keep one Wii U.

  15. Ocarina of Time 3D performed well because it is on of the best games ever made. Wind Waker is beloved by some fans but it hasn’t such a big name as Ocarina.

A system seller would be Majora’s Mask HD (in my opinion)

    1. PLEASE!!! MAJORAS MASK IS THE MOST UNDERRATED ZELDA GAME EVER. ITS NOT A SYSTEM SELLER NINTENDO DID GREAT CHOOSING WW. TP AND SS ARE TOO YOUNG TO BE REMASTERD.

      1. MM would be a system seller, especially if it had the graphics from that fan made trailer people would empty there wallets for a remake like that

        1. I think it would be a masterpiece, but believe me, Wind Waker is a very good choice too, i’ve really started to think they are gonna bring up Majoras Mask HD too

      2. If Nintendo remade Majora’s Mask for Wii U–and I would love it if they did if they brought the engine even to the level of the Wind Waker on Gamecube–they would have to record live instruments. That game’s MIDI soundtrack sounds so jarring by today’s standards, and it’s because the music is complex and emotional. It would sound beautiful on woodwinds and glockenspiel.

  16. I don’t think the game itself will be selling systems.. I think the design on the gamepad is what is going to sell it. Zelda fans eat that stuff up in a heartbeat.
I’m not sure it’ll do better than OoT because it was dubbed ‘best Zelda ever’ by most fans. :I
But I think WWHD will sell pretty well, I’ve been seeing good feedback for the game. :3

  17. Ocarina of Time is seeing some wear and tear, but it is an undisputed icon in gaming. Of course it was a fucking system seller.

Windwaker has NO WHERE NEAR the legendary reputation Ocarina and Majora’s Mask have. If they would have remade, TRUELY made Majora’s mask HD, like graphics overhaul… That would have been a system seller.

All that said, they need a new Zelda game Asap. I know Skyward Sword just came out, but it was piss poor strategy. It should have come out mid Wii life-cycle, NOT the dying end. If they pull that shit with the WiiU, not only will they not sell systems, but they are losing long-time Nintendo fans. New gamers are going to the PS4.

I’m realistic. I think the gamepad, off screen gaming, Nintendo HD games – It’s all a dream come true for Ninty fans, but N is abusing it’s fans too much, and it’s going to bite them in the ass.

    1. I don’t think you are being realistic. Majora’s Mask HD would take a lot more work than WWHD. All the graphics would have to be redone. It may cut into next Zelda’s development time.

Sure, you could say Nintendo is abusing it’s fans, it’s your opinion. However, you’re not looking at the big picture: WiiU has been failing, it needs to improve soon. The key words is “soon”, a big remake or big new AAA wont make it in time.

Seems to me WWHD was one of the wisest choice they made, from a business perspective, when it was apparent(shortly after launch) WiiU would be in trouble.

Here’ what Iwata was probably thinking, “OoT helped 3DS, so we need a Zelda on WiiU. Wind waker is the answer, only about half of Zelda fans have played it. It’s old enough to be a distant memory and yet the graphics are still beautiful. Development time would be quick, budget would be small, and it’s pretty guaranteed to be atleast a million seller. That should move some WiiU hardware cuz’ it needs all the help it can get this holiday.”

I agree, with Skyward Sword, timing was off. It should have been released earlier or delayed for a WiiU launch. If it was a WiiU launch title, Nintendo wouldn’t need to make a WWHD, they could have gone straight to ZeldaU.
But they miss that chance ‘cuz how could they know WiiU would sell so horrible after launch? Hell, I think even Pachter was expecting Nintendo to sell it’s initial 5million units during the “launch window.”

      1. EXACTLY MY POINT.
Majora’s Mask WOULD be a lot more work. I totally agree with you. That’s why it needs remade.

Windwaker Still looks great after 10 years because of the art style.

Sorry man, but that’s my point.

      2. You make some good points.
I still would argue that people are complaining because Nintendo did exactly what you said. They took the quick and easy way out.

Now, I’m glad to have Windwaker on my WiiU, but people not ready to buy a WiiU can play the Gamecube disk on their Wii, and it looks great to this day. It’s nice to have if you already have a WiiU, and hopefully it will bring some younger people on board who don’t already own it, but it’s not going to be an OoT situation like they hope.

        As always, I hope I’m wrong. ;)

        1. Oh sorry I misunderstood your point.

Those complaining are being unreasonable, they don’t have to get it if they don’t want it. They can skip this and look forward for a new Zelda. WWHD is for nostalgic fans, new fans, and old fans who never played the original.
It’s not about reselling fans for an old game to make a quick buck. It’s about giving WiiU the best chance for a comeback. If WiiU fails, there wont be another Zelda on WiiU.

I also hope you’re wrong, lol.
The original WW sold a little over half that of OoT64. Oot3D sold ~3.3mil in 2yrs.
So, if WWHD follows the situation, it’ll sell ~1.6mil in 2yrs. I’m hoping WWHD will do half to WiiU, what OoT3D did to 3DS.
However, now I’m having doubts, ‘cuz Nintendo’s WiiU marketing seems to be incomplete. They’ve got their products and bundles lined-up, but still no big marketing push to let regular people know. I had hope Ninty would treat this holiday like a WiiU re-launch with “launch-like” marketing campaign. Yet, still nothing.

    1. When it wasn’t a remake of a shitty CoD game. Even a remake of a Zelda game sells consoles, OoT3D (3DS), Zelda collector’s edition (Gamecube). Hell, people are crying out for a Majora’s mask remake. A fantastic classic game will ALWAYS sell.

      1. Correct, but I don’t believe Windwaker achieved that “Classic” status.

It was easy to make something already pretty into something pretty.

        1. I don’t know, Jaded_Drybones, there is a pretty vocal community of its promoters… and while I like best Skyward Sword, The Wind Waker has always felt timeless and unsurpassed in a way all its own.

    1. You sir, are a Zelda fanatic.
      I can’t believe you did that…

Although I may have ordered two copies of the hardcover Zelda Historia…

    1. Not a assed fasted HD like others tend to be and add extra content to the game, also fixes most if not all the issues the original had.
That’s a HD Port done right my friend.

  18. Well, I think it will do fine. I’ll pick it up in launch day since I haven’t had the chance to play it during the Gamecube generation. It will entertain me until DKC: Tropical freeze, Wii U fit and Mario 3D World.

  20. It is a system seller. I’m buying a WiiU just for this game until more good games (that I like) come out. Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 don’t appeal to me, but I loved this game on Gamecube and I love the changes they’ve made. Unfortunately most of the games I’m looking forward to on the system, besides this and Sonic Lost World, don’t come out until 2014 :/

  22. at my job 3 of my bud just bought this bundle. The were suppaused to wait for x-box done and ps4 .. but they will wait 2-3 years.. because now they have a Wii U.

  23. As much as I LOVE Nintendo, I’m starting to believe that Nintendo is the only ones that believes anything positive about themselves these days. Nearly 1 full year since the Wii U launch, and none of the stores around where I live has any Wii U kiosks to play. I have yet to see what the Wii U actually looks like in person. ALL places should have Wii U kiosks by now. They’re still doing next to nothing as far as advertising the Wii U. I rarely see any Wii U’s in stock at places like Wal-Mart and Target.

And everyone keeps talking about Nintendo being doomed. Even today at Best Buy, a new guy working there was talking about how Nintendo isn’t the same anymore. I then went to Gamestop and found a used copy of NintendoLand for only $7.49, complete. I couldn’t resist buying it. The fact that NintendoLand is already that cheap is yet another bad sign.

  25. More people are gaming on mobile devices than home consoles. But I imagine it’s because of the convenience & graphics being almost similar. Because of that, many predict the future of gaming being portables & home consoles dying off.

  26. I live in Miami and trust me this place is full of graphic whores and racist 9th graders who claim to have sex with my mother several times last night when I play on xbone live but I wanted to buy one of these guys and they sold out sadly
