Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre Releases For eShop, Plus Mini Direct

Nintendo of Europe has today released its Louvre Museum virtual guide for the Nintendo 3DS eShop and, alongside the release, the company has also published a Mini Direct. In the Mini Direct, which you can see above, president Satoru Iwata and legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto take a tour of the Louvre, using the 3DS system as a guide.

Originally, the virtual guide was announced back in April 2012, where visitors to the Louvre could use the official 3DS guide to understand and deepen their knowledge of the various exhibits and artwork. But from today, you can visit the museum in Paris from the comfort of your own home and cosy armchair.

The app itself has over 600 photographs of the artwork and more than 30 hours of audio commentary. Plus, there’s an interactive map and over 400 3D photographs of the museum rooms, which are available in 360° panoramic view. You can also take set tours on the guide, such as the Masterpieces Tour – focussing on three famous art pieces – or the Family Tour to see the art of Ancient Egypt.

Updates for the guide can be downloaded from the internet, so whenever the Louvre adds new artwork, you’ll find it on the app and never feel out of the loop. Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre is available to purchase now for European users at €19.99 / £17.99 on the Nintendo eShop. Physical copies can also be purchased from within the Louvre Museum.
