Rainbow Loom, Lego, and Wii U are the winners of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2013 “Deals Awards” for kid’s toys and gifts. Announced today by the Cyber Week Awards, the first, second, and third place winners were selected based on the pricing and available deals on this holiday shopping season’s most popular kid’s toys and gifts. Several other toys, such as Skylanders Swap Force and Barbie, are also included on a secondary list of products that received an “honorable mention.”
The Wii U, when compared to the PS4 (“Playstation 4”) and the Xbox One, may not seem to be the most popular toy this holiday season. However, the Wii U is a clear winner for younger kids interested in video games. It offers more interaction for children and has many more games tailored to a younger audience. For example, the toy-based video games appearing on the honourable mentions list, Disney Infinity and Skylanders Swap Force, are very popular among youngsters at the moment. Additionally, the Wii U is less expensive than the PS4 and the Xbox One. For these reasons, the Wii U earned the third place award.

I think they should do something new with the franchise. Meaning maybe bring in a new type of Metroid or something never before seen. While I like the series, the franchise is in need of something new.

Yep I would advocate for something new too. Maybe changing up the gameplay a little bit like what they are supposedly doing with the new Zelda U title coming out. However, it would also be great if they released a sequel to prime, as that series was amazing. I just want Metroid on the Wii U already. Or Starfox, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Kirby, Mother. Or imagine a 3D Iceclimbers where all the worlds were glistening with snow and ice. You’d be climbing tall, beautiful mountains with the faint light of stars and aurorae in the background. Iceclimber, even though they only had one game, should have a comeback. Sort of like how Kid Icarus said, “Sorry to keep you waiting”, The Iceclimbers should do the same. Nintendo has so many dormant ips that I would like to see come back, including Waverace. A pokemon spinoff like Colosseum or XD are welcomed as well.

I agree about “hardcore” gaming. Super Mario bros lost levels “US” is harder than anything they give the term “hardcore” for the xbox. Most of them anyways give you a predetermined location.

Hopefully this will mean that sales will pick up but I really wish the Wii U would gain a larger dedicated install base that will support the third party titles that come to Wii U. The time for that may have passed though.
