Latest Smash Bros Screenshot Confirms Trophies Will Return, Will Be Version Exclusive

3ds_trophy_smash_brosSuper Smash Bros. director Masohiro Sakurai has confirmed on Miiverse that trophies will make a return for both the Wii U and 3DS game. The latest screenshot shows Saria from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as one of the trophies for Super Smash Bros. on 3DS. In his post on Miiverse, Sakurai explains that trophies will be version exclusive, with handheld games and characters featured on the 3DS version and vice versa with Wii U. Here’s what he said on Miiverse:

“There will be trophies in the 3DS and Wii U games, and each version will boast different types and models. The 3DS trophies will be mainly from handhelds and the Wii U version will feature trophies from the home-console games.”

      1. Impostor!
Why would you even want to be Navi anyway? It’s like putting a ”kick me” sign on your back.

      1. Just like how Kid Icarus Uprising did? (except making the cards easier to get a hold of) That’d be cool.

    1. Yeah! Gotta love NAVI! I hope the stickers make a comeback also… or some other kind of collectibles.

  1. this game IS Dogshit games on my Ps3 look better than this crap.#ScamU

    1. So… your HD 10 kg PS3 console has better graphics than a light, small handheld?

      Oh, I’m really impressed! /s

    2. This screenshot’s from the handheld version, you dumb fuck. The home console version’s one of the best-looking games I’ve seen yet.

    1. Fawful should be an assist trophy! (a playable fighter would be even better, but I think that’s asking too much xD)

    1. That would be pretty horrible, considering it’s a cool feature that’s been in since Smash64 and only promotes fun. I especially enjoy turning off starman, mega shrooms, mini shrooms, lightning and curry. (or maybe bomb-omb only on high, every once in a while)

  2. Smart move, in two different ways. Helps save memory on the 3ds version, and gives a since of exclusive content for both games. Both version of the games have a strong difference now, more then ever.

  3. Hmmm guessing the kid icarus characters will be only on the 3ds version. pokemon will mixed I assume and ect

    1. Nope, Each version gets the same characters. The stages, and now trophies, are version exclusive. And since the main series of Pokemon is on the 3DS, I think Pokemon-related trophies will only be on the 3DS version.

      1. Yeah, but don’t forget there are many Pokémon games in home systems too. And Pikachu is in Wii U version aswell. Also Xerneas is on Wii U version, as we saw in one screenshot.

    1. damn straight wii u version will be my main, 3ds version will be my casual play on the go. I feel the wii u version will be best in control, since handheld fighting games aren’t the best in comfort

  4. wouldnt that be lying to us since they said once before that they dont want one system to have esclusive stuff

    1. They never said that both versions would be identical… they said that the playable characters (and probably items and game modes) would be the same. In fact, we already knew for some time that each version would have different stages.

  5. As cool as the Smash Bros. series is, I always feel sad about one thing. The fact that I don’t get as much fun out of them as most people do. I’m talking about multi-player. I’m not a fan of playing multi-player modes in these particular type of games. My nephews used to drive me NUTS wanting to play multi-player in Melee. It bored me SO bad (same thing they used to do with the Donkey Kong 64 battle mode. They made me never want to look at that game again).

I get all of my fun just playing the single-player modes and trying to unlock everything I possibly can. I hope the trophy viewer works more like it did in Melee. In Melee, you could rotate and zoom each trophy. If I remember right, it seems like you couldn’t zoom (or something) the trophies in Brawl. That sucked.

That reminds me. I still need to buy myself another copy of Brawl, since I gave mine to my niece. Fortunately it’s much cheaper now.

    1. That’s sad, but I can imagine that being forced to play the game repeatedly by small children would indeed quickly take the fun out of it.
Do they still make you play with them? Because if not, maybe you’ll end up being able to enjoy it more this time.
Anyway, playing solo is a lot of fun too. The first 2 I played a lot of multiplayer, but Brawl I mostly played solo, since my friends wouldn’t come as often (and I really don’t care about online multiplayer u.u).

      1. I really don’t think it would make much of a difference whether I played with an adult or a kid. I have a short attention span when it comes to fighting games. Playing battle after battle after battle gets me bored FAST when there’s no real point to it (even though certain trophies can be unlocked by doing so).
