Renegade Kid Reveals Moon Chronicles For Nintendo 3DS

Moon_Chronicles_Screen

Renegade Kid has finally announced that Moon Chronicles will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Last week internet sleuths revealed that the company had filed a trademark for Moon Chronicles. The game is a remake of Moon and is a first person shooter running at 60fps exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS. Moon Chronicles will also support the Circle Pad Pro peripheral. The game is scheduled to be released on the eShop in the spring.

The story follows a character named Major Kane, as he embarks on a mysterious mission to investigate a hatch of unknown origin on Earth’s moon. Moon Chronicles will follow an episodic model. Season one is a remake of the original DS game and will follow the pricing structure listed below.

  • Episode 1: $8.99 (contains chapters 1 – 4 + 6 VR Missions: ~4 hours of gameplay).
  • Episode 2 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 5 – 8: ~2 hours of gameplay).
  • Episode 3 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 9 – 12: ~2 hours of gameplay).
  • Episode 4 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 13 – 16: ~2 hours of gameplay).

“We’re big fans of TV shows like Lost. We love shows that really cement the feeling where you watch an episode, you have a cliffhanger, and you absolutely need to watch the next one.”

“That’s our plan for season two and beyond, [for us] to approach it in a similar way. ‘What’s the whole point of the season? Where do we start and where do we end up?’”

– Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham

    1. So…. it´s $15 for the entire game. I hope they make a promotion or something or anyone who buys the complete package. I´m not a fan of FPS but it´s nice to have even more variety for the 3ds

      1. It will also have a “second episode” released at a later date as DLC. Honestly $15 isn’t bad when you consider this is a full game that was originally released on the DS.

  1. This isn’t going to end well…

I know with games like The Walking Dead and such, episodic works….but on a Nintendo platform? I’m fearful, which sucks because I would like to see this game succeed. Maybe once all the Episodes are out they’ll release the collection form in physical cart.

  2. So…no Nintendo Direct today?
When these people announced that there would be an announcement today, I noticed a lot of people in the comments section got excited for a Nintendo Direct.

    2. No, people were speculating, because Renegade Kid trolled everyone lol! (even if he himself didn’t know he was trolling 0.o)

  3. I assumed we’d get a nintendo direct after they announced we’d see something today, can’t help but feel misguided. I hope we get one next weekend, we need more stuff like Yarn Yoshi, X, Fire Emblem, Mario Golf, Virtual console, ect.
As for this, It looks fun and all, but in an episodic format? I’m a little unsure. I’m not a fan of that at all.

    1. They are probably waiting until the E3 direct…unfortunately… If we get any directs they will be ones specific to a single game like I am sure a DKCTF direct is coming, but it won’t have anything “new.”

  4. Nothing new, just the game that i already got on my DS, split in parts and with blur, to make it “looks better” in 3D.

    1. Well… and the fact that more people might play it now. I had no idea what the hell the game was until now. I’ll probably get it :D

      1. It’s a very good game, looks like a mix of halo, metroid prime and doom. The story is a little weak, but the gameplay, at least on the Nintendo DS system, is excellent. It’s worth the price, but there’s nothing new.

Here, in Brazil, that game was hard to find, but i paid the equivalent of USD 12,00 (the price of Nintendo games here is USD 75,00-120,00)

          1. I’m sorry, here we use comma to determine decimal numbers, while in the US people use dot. I’ve just forgot that detail.

I’ve paid the equivalent to twelve american dollars in that game, because the prices here is based on the popularity, and Moon isn’t a popular game. The price of a Mario game is USD 75.00, don’t matter the launch date. The price of a good game, but less popular, like the games of Renegade Kid, is USD 40.00 in the launch date, and is hard to find.

  6. Didnt play the original so im interested. Guessing it controls like Metroid Prime Hunters?

Also, “Super Assault Rifle ” is a great name for a gun, no sarcasm.

  7. So season 2 and on will be completely new content? The game sounds cool, but i’m not really happy about that kind of control scheme, seems awkward :/

  8. If it’s not Mario, dk, Zelda news then these dumb dronez dont care
