Ubsioft Says “We Have Nothing To Comment At The Moment” About Watch Dogs Wii U

Yesterday we heard a rumour suggesting that GameStop Italy was telling people who pre-ordered a copy of Watch Dogs for Wii U that the game had been canceled by Ubisoft. Online gaming publication CVG reached out to Ubisoft to find out whether or not the highly anticipated title had been cancelled. They were told by a Ubisoft representative that “We have nothing to comment at the moment.”

  1. it’s not a rumor … a partner of theirs is saying these things … it’s not just speculation.

no comment? … trust me, it’s canceled.

    1. Agreed, it is obviously cancelled. If not the would have stopped the “rumors” instantly. Oh well, I thought it looked stupid anyways and had no intention of buying it in the first place.

      1. Thats all every one has to say for every other game which doesnt make it to the wiiu. Seriously, I guess its true then nintendo consoles are a toy box ONLY for nintendo games. If this game also doesnt make it, then we shouldnt expect any other major AAA game to come from henceforth.

      2. Its actually comments like the one you just made, in conjunction with poor sales for non nintendo titles on nintendo consoles, that are kind of the reason for it, i bet. Not that i disagree in this instance, ive thought watchdogs looked ridiculously linear and boring as all hell since its announcement (move camera, highlight, push action, watch cutscene), but something similar is always said about every game the wiiu isnt getting and everything that does come gets “i’ll wait for a sale cuz mario just came out.”

Add that in with nintendo refusing to implement anything resembling a cohesive advertising campaign gor their system, much less other peoples games and its easy to see why more and more are moving as far away from wiiu as they can. Especially since 7 million new console owners, with money to burn and no mario to speak of, DO want this game and more like it.

      3. yeah funny looking back at that comment

sometimes rumors are simply not commented for the sake of not commenting on rumors

    2. Yup. Ubisoft really seems to want to contend with EA in how crappy a gaming company they are. “Oh no people are complaining about Rayman Legends, let’s “give” them Watch Dogs till they quiet down.”

I still haven’t purchased Rayman Legends, guess now I won’t be buying Watch Dogs either.

      1. Same! I have not purchased Rayman Legends! I was planning on it soon actually now that you can buy it cheaper from some places. But, seeing as Watch Dogs isn’t coming to Wii U I have no reason to support Ubisoft whatsoever…Screw them.

        1. Why dont fanboys just cut to the chase and just admit their intentions to boycott everyone but nintendo? I mean, christ, thats got to be where this crap is going. Business on and for wiiu sucks and its because even quality games like rayman legends get no love from you people at full price.

Not saying theres anything wrong with being poor or just not wanting to jump in for whatever reason, but when 95% of a consoles install base feels the same way about supporting nothing but nintendo games at full price, what reason is there to put a game out on wiiu if youre a third party?

This sort of thing is on nintendo. Its not right that the nintendo fanbase expects third parties to risk going bankrupt to support a console that isnt going anywhere because nintendo still hasnt fixed the consumer confusion about what it actually is more than a year later.

          1. Then Ubisoft needs to stop teasing us and just friggen say they aren’t supporting Wii U. I’m sick of the back and forth shit. Either you are on board or you are not. I’m done. I’m just done with Ubisoft.

            1. Done with ubisoft ?!. Isn’t it the only 3rd party which has been releasing their games. I think if people wouldve shoved their ignorance down their throats and ACTUALLY FREAKIN BOUGHT THEIR GAMES( rayman) , THEY WOULDNT HAVE BEEN CONSIDERING THIS THEN.!!

        1. Less of a grudge, more about principles. Purchasing these games just says “Fine you can do what you want with your games and we’ll just follow along.” Nope, not doing that.

          1. Except that by not buying it you just give them more reason to not support the console with other games, which is exactly what is occurring here.

            1. Oh yes you’ve convinced me now. I’ll go buy whatever any 3rd party dev puts on the WiiU out of the fear they might stop developing for it. Nope, sorry, I’ll go buy the games from devs that don’t play favourites and don’t treat their customers like crap.

              1. They pushed back the release date of Rayman Legends because of the lack of sales that they made with Zombie U. If you fanboys wouldve supported that game all of this wouldnt had happen. Sadly, that is the fate that Bayo2 is going to suffer.

                1. Agreed!. I don’t get why people dont support 3rd party games, and then later when the publisher shows their back , you guys blame them. You people need to understand that making games is a business for them , if they do not see any profit in it , then why on earth would they publish it ??

                2. Oh yes, we should go waste $60 on an only half decent zombie game. How about Ubisoft make better games and not screw people over? Also, as for Rayman legends that worked out real well for them didn’t it? They received nothing but warning about delaying the release of the game to September with all the games it would have to be released with and look what happened, the sales of the game were horrid.

I’ll be picking up Bayonetta 2 day one because Platinum are an amazing developer who make fantastic games, we wouldn’t even be getting it if it were up to Sega.

          2. Just go to GameStop and buy it used. You dont give any money to Ubisoft and get to enjoy the game. Its what ill eventually be doing.

              1. uhh.. you do realize its the devs that are actually making the games right. Lets see what your opinion will be when pretty much all the devs abandon the system. You can enjoy your ignorance then.

            1. Maybe I don’t want to even play the game, because of what Ubisoft’s doing. They have turned me off completely from all their franchises no matter how “good” they may be.

          3. Companies need to make money. They have shareholders to please, shareholders who know nothing about the industry but have the power to delay a game or cancel it althogether. If the game is gonna cost more money to port on wiiU than it’ll make then what’s the point? That’s what’s called a bad investment, nobody wants to lose money. If you won’t buy a game because of a grudge then why should they bother, since obviously you won’t. It’s called making money.

            1. If they were worried about making money, they would never have even thought about putting Watch Dogs on the Wii U in the first place… Ubisoft sucks. They are purposefully going back and forth trying to evade the inevitable. No Nintendo supporters will support Ubisoft after they confirm Watch Dogs is cancelled on Wii U and Ubisoft is not strong on other platforms either. They are screwing us and screwing themselves in the process.

Quite frankly, I really don’t care anymore. I wouldn’t mind seeing them liquidate into nothing.

              1. “If they were worried about making money, they would never have even thought about putting Watch Dogs on the Wii U in the first place”, so you’re saying if companies want to make money they should avoid wiiU? “I wouldn’t mind seeing them liquidate into nothing.” You want the only major third-party company that even bothers with the wiiU to liquidate into nothing? Make no mistake about it, if watchdogs on wiiU gets cancelled it’ll hurt wiiU sales. Hell at this point it might even take the wiiU down with it. Or were you talking about nintendo when you said that?

            2. Tell that to all the Wii U owners who preordered this game, myself included. We were really looking forward to it. I guess fans don’t matter anymore in the industry.

            3. The work has already been done for the Wii U though. This is just Ubisoft playing favorites. Maybe Sony and MS want to put the hurt on Nintendo so they “funded” some of watchdogs development to discontinue support for Nintendo? Why not release a game you have already coded for? That’s the only explanation I can come up with.

              1. “I agree, he’s a stupid retard.” and “Says the retard lol. Cry more tears.”

There I fixed it for you. And really, stupid retard? Considering you’re trying to insult me you basically just called me stupid stupid…

    3. If they really considering cancelling it, they´re just throwing money on the trash bin, since they already spent a lot of time programming it for the WiiU

      1. By not cancelling it they probably will throw even more money on the trash bin. Cancelling is probably kind of ‘damage control’…

  2. Pedro juan barguil navarro

please dont, this one was one of my most expected games, if this game gets canceled thats it i will burn my wii U

    1. Same…. I was finally going to get a real open world game on my Wii U and it’s just cancelled?!?!? Why is Ubisoft screwing Nintendo fans TWO TIMES IN A ROW!?

Also, why are they lying!? If it’s cancelled, just say it’s goddamn cancelled so we can start mauling Ubisoft to death instead of holding onto the hope that it’s still going to be on the system by our finger nails!

Just wait when Nintendo comes out with a new home console that sells extremely well and Nintendo fans ignore Ubisoft. We don’t forget things like this. We’ll hold a grudge over Ubisoft like we do against EA. Goddamn Ubisoft! Nintendo has the 3DS and I certainly won’t be getting any Ubisoft games on it if they come out with them…

      1. When was the last time a Ubisoft game came out on the 3DS. Its been awhile…I think. Rayman Origins was the last one I remember.

      2. Assassin’s Creed III and IV are both open world games on the Wii U, plus X is coming out sooner or later.

And how is Ubisoft “screwing” Nintendo fans? Even though they have been doing it at a loss, they have been one of the most consistent third party supporters of the Wii U.

You say that Nintendo fans will ignore Ubisoft? Nintendo fans (Wii U owners) are already ignoring Ubisoft. None of the games they have put on the system have sold well.

        1. Well rayman did better but the game over all bombed. It was a great game wish people didn’t ignored it. Plus I think GTA had done some damage to sells.

        2. I think zombiu did well, especially since it wasn’t marketed that well, and reviews it got. I doubt they spent tons of money on the game, especially what graphical and mechanically they did.

          1. same here ubisoft has given the system support and they a RPG game coming thats grabed my attention. I bought Zombiu, and rayman (not a fan of assassins creed or splinter cell) I’m planing on getting this game, it looks fun.

        3. Uh, wrong. Rayman Legends sold best on the Wii U, and the Miiverse was alight with pissed off mentions of how AC3 on the Wii U wasn’t getting DLC. And now, this.

        4. I’ve never played an Assasin’s Creed game so I didn’t want to start Assasin’s Creed III or IV (story wise) and I don’t own other consoles so I can’t play the originals so basically I can’t ever play Assasin’s Creed unless they port all the originals to Wii U.

I’m definitely getting X, but who knows when that’s coming. I want Watch Dogs.I was interested in Watch Dogs, because it was a brand new title that I could experience without worrying about it being a sequel.

They are screwing Nintendo fans, because they say Rayman Legends is exclusive to Wii U, then they change their mind (HUGE F U in the face to us) then they cancel Watch Dogs on Wii U (Even BIGGER F U to us). If they don’t want to support Wii U they should go join EA. I don’t want their half-assed support…

Yeah, we are ignoring Ubisoft already… now we’ll ignore them even more (and that’s saying something, because Rayman Legends sold THE BEST on the Wii U… bad news for Ubi)

      3. “Also, why are they lying!? If it’s cancelled, just say it’s goddamn cancelled so we can start mauling Ubisoft to death instead of holding onto the hope that it’s still going to be on the system by our finger nails!”

There may be a reason why they haven’t officially canceled it. Think about it, why HAVEN’T they simply said “we’ve dropped support for Wii U”. I believe the Wii U port is under “serious reevaluation”. It’s neither canceled, nor is it coming to Wii U yet. If there’s some other gain they could glean by leaving you hanging, neither confirming or denying a canceled version, enlighten me.

        1. Yeah, the reason is they don’t want to admit it yet. It’s like when you break up with your boyfriend/ girlfriend. It takes a while to come up with the right words…

They are probably coming up with some shitty excuse like “We couldn’t get multiplayer running on Wii U in 60 FPS so we just cancelled the whole game….”

      4. Calm down, so far what we have are only rumors from unindentified sources. I think they won´t cancel it at all since they´ve been working on this game for quite some time

  3. Not only CVG. A bunch of sites from different countries have asked their respective Ubisoft subsidiary about that topic. All of theme recieved exactly the same answer, word by word.

I don’t know what to think about this.

    1. Ubisoft can burn down in flames for all I care. If Watch Dogs doesn’t come to Wii U I wish them ill will and don’t I care about whoever loses their jobs in the process of Ubisoft’s downfall.

That’s how pissed I am. Only thing that can change my mind is clarify that Watchdogs is coming to Wii U…

      1. WHY U MAD. THEY IN THEIR RIGHT TO CANCEL THE GAME. SPLINTER CELL AND AC4 SOLD LIKE SHIT. ITS CALLED BUSSINES. AND NINTENDO IS DEAD TO THIRD PARTY.

        GOOD JOB UBISOFT.

        1. They promised the consumer that Watch Dogs was coming to Wii U. If they weren’t going to bring it, they should have never told the consumer of the development… No one likes to be teased.

I wouldn’t care if they never announced it for Wii U, but they did so they should honor their commitment and not stumble out of view with their tail between their legs.

          1. They know that you dumb nintenDronez won’t support it so they are making a great decision

            #StayMadFanboys
            #NoWatchDogs4U

            1. No they’re not. Remember Nintendo fans were the ones who bought the most Rayman Legends games. They are throwing away a huge part of their consumers. Ubisoft isn’t as beloved by Microsoft and Sony fans like they love their EA and Activision…

                    1. pink0crystal0midbus

How do you know “your research” isn’t wrong? What sources did you use? They could be wrong.

                      1. It doesn’t matter what sources I used, if you don’t believe what I said. That’s why I’m telling YOU to do your OWN research to see the answer for yourself. Otherwise you’ll be susceptible to believe everything you hear in the media.

                1. I HOPE THEY CANCEL THE GAME JUST BECAUSE OF YOU. GOOD THING I HAVE PS3 and PS4 SO I WILL BE PLAYING YOULL BE SEETHING

                  1. Whatever, I’m sure I’ll get over it… not really a big loss anyway. It just confirms that Ubisoft is trash. Watch Watchdogs get shitty reviews… ha.

                    1. LMAO AT YOU BLAMING UBISOFT JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING TO CANCEL A GAME. ITS NOT THEIR FAULT THAT U NINTY BABIES DOSNT LIKE OR SUPPORT THIRD PARTY HARDCORE GAMES.

I SAY U ARE THE TRASH FOR SUPPORTING CASUAL SHIT FROM NINTENDO.

        2. Lol isn’t going out of business anytime soon. They don’t need nintendo sales. Nintendo needs ubisoft games though.

          1. It’s already been established that Ubisoft “needs” Nintendo and Nintendo doesn’t need Ubisoft in the slightest…

            1. Ubisoft needs Nintendo? The only Ubisoft game that sells well on Nintendo systems is Just Dance. The rest of Ubisoft’s revenue comes mostly from other platforms and investments.

            2. I would say Nintendo needs Ubisoft more at this point. They’re the only 3rd party support they have. In the end they both need each other to make money.

        1. WatchDogs, does have exclusive PS4 levels over any other versions and Sony is funding there movie for Ubisoft which they announced at E3. So even though its all a rumor including the cancellation on the Wii U, it doesn’t sound completely far fetched on this one.

        1. For me its stupid to think all games are being paid that way, but if they bought timed exclusivity of this one game, I wouldn’t be surprised. Its the rumors and this constant barrage of media that is doing so much more harm than anything. If I wasn’t someone who bought a Wii U yet, I would stay clear of buying one now, cause the news makes it sounds like the Wii U is being cancelled next week.

      1. Daaaammmit that game looks like rap to me and I don’t want to support it, but if they bring it I guess I’ll buy it to say that I want another splinter cell on wii u. I couldn’t give less of a rats ass about watch dogs and zomg ass creed 4 was pure garbage. TRASH.
If you ask me the wii u shouldn’t need any third party support, but I’m tired of this bs

    2. Nothing to comment at the moment? 95% cancelled then. If it wasn’t they’d just say so. No matter, just like with most of Ubisoft’s other games this one is destined to be over-hyped and underwhelming.

    3. Express concern, not panic.

Remember, this is exactly the same thing that happened with Call of Duty Ghosts. There were loads of denials and “no comment” statements regarding Ghosts.

That said, with Ubisoft’s titles under performing on the Wii U (due both to Wii U’s small install base, and Ubisoft’s quite frankly ridiculous targets), it wouldn’t be entirely unlikely that they’ve cancelled it.

But Ubisoft’s chairman Yves Guillemot has said that “Wii U development is not expensive”. With that in mind, for a multiform title that is so close to release, where most of the cost would be absorbed by other platforms, it wouldn’t make a huge amount of sense to cancel it this late into production. The game has to be pretty much finished.

Then again, Nintendo’s recent lowering of Wii U unit sales expectations by a significant amount, could have influenced Ubisoft’s decision in this matter.

Basically, it’s rarely good when a company declines to comment on anything. But the same thing happened with Ghosts and the Wii U got that game.

So, be concerned, but don’t panic yet.

    4. I say we just get a bunch of people to email ubisoft and tell them they’ll be really disappointed if it doesn’t come out

    5. How can that mean anything good? This really sucks, I’m really trying to expand the amount of franchises I play this gen , and this was one I was SERIOUSLY excited for. If it’s cancelled for Wii U, I’m going to get very pissed off.

          1. Everybody knows that you can only have one of the three next gen consoles. It is a sin to support more than one Go- er, company. It’s not like people can spend their money on what they want or anything. People really love treating video games as a religion for some reason.

    6. Remember when people thought bayonetta 2 wasn’t a exclusive no more and platinum never gave a reply…The whole thing was over blown…Ah the internet you’ve truly changed gamers

      1. I don’t remember that, because I don’t think that ever really happened(the spreading over the internet thing)… This is some really big compelling evidence that Watch Dogs Wii U has been cancelled, but we have heard from Kamiya a million times that Bayonetta 2 is coming to Wii U. So any info we get about Bayo 2 NOT coming to WIi U or going third party we just simply don’t believe.

Especially because Nintendo is funding Bayo and not Watch Dogs and when is the last time Nintendo’s announced a game and cancelled it later?

        1. i do remember
an stupid source saying Bayo 2 was going multi and may abandon WIiU dev
that was just a stupid fanboy spreading news

        2. they are taking preorders at gamestop italy again, plus remember the whole COD ghost story of the wii u version canceled, no comments for awhile, then activison said it wasn’t canceled

          1. Yeah, but Nintendo fans didn’t care about CoD Ghosts lol! A lot more of us actually were planning on buying Watch Dogs!!! The reason why this rumor seems so believable is because we’ve already gotten screwed by Ubisoft on Rayman Legends (and in the process Ubisoft screwed themselves…..)

            1. Yet rayman on wii u sold the most, and other multiplats sold worse. Plus look at game stop italy’s website they are still taking preorders

        3. “when is the last time Nintendo’s announced a game and cancelled it later?”
          last gen?

          Project H.A.M.M.E.R
          Cosmic Walker

    7. Yup cancelled confirmed, but you dronez dont care anyway lolzz the watch dogs sales for Wii U would be 1% of the total sales of the game just like ghost. You all dont want 3rd party support, just Mario, smash and kart

      #WiiUExposed

      1. “oh man, you are so right, you changed my mind and i will not support Nintendo” said noone ever
also, for some reason, Gamestop italy started taking pre-orders again
        get yourself informed

        also, hi

          1. Virtual Boy had 15 games and some minor sales(not more than 100)
            they dropped it and continue
the WiiU has 5m sale on its life span, and keeps selling
on the case this happens(the drop) N is gonna continue there, specially with the money printing 3DS
dont you see i have no intentions to discuss this cut i want to point out your “loop holes”

          2. If anything was confirmed here, it was that you’re too young to playing with your moms cheap cell phone and should be having your ass beatin for being a little tickturd.

      2. I’m a changed man. Thanks WiiUExposed. I guess your work is done here, yes? You can leave this site now. No more work is needed from you

    8. This means it’s cancelled .. Wasn’t there no comment from other companies about rumoured cancelled games ?
Sega I’m looking at you …

      1. You talking about Aliens Colonial Marines lol! That cancellation was actually GOOD for the consumer hahahaha!!!

    9. This is just waisting money Ubisoft. You already put time and money into porting the game to Wii U, if you don’t release it you’ll just waste money. And also Nintendo fans probably won’t support you (:

      1. Let’s say the rumor is indeed true and they canceled it; Even if Ubisoft lost some money on initial development, they could be saving further loses from the rest of the development process, manufacturing and distribution, legal fees, etc. All of that has to be taken into consideration as well.

Chances are, the game wouldn’t sell enough on the platform to cover those costs.

    10. Not denying it at this point is 90% of a confession. If they have not made the final decicion to fully cancel it at this point, they must be strongly leaning that way.

WiiU is doing exceptionally poorly in Europe, with some retail outlets purging their shelves of the hardware and software entirely. It is possible that only the European versions of the game are being cancelled, but I would not be suprised if The WiiU version was dropped entirely. Dissapointed, but not surprised.

If that happens though, it will be a huge blow to Nintendo. Ubi has been WiiUs strongest Third Party supporter. If they start jumping ship now, Nintendos struggles with the platform will only get even worse. If I were Nintendo, I would use some of their cash reserves to encourage Ubi to give the platform another chance. Nintendo NEEDS AAA Third Party support if they want to make WiiU stay afloat and not go down in flames.

            1. Brasil get NA NTSC so normally English
Some games already embrace the multi language, look at Mario or Pokemon
Zelda, on the other hand on Brasil is on English

    11. And I suppose if it’s cancelled – getting the xbox one version . As smart glass is just as cool as the game pad – so no loss there – just a pity that nintendo is losing the fight

      1. Smart glass is illegal to wear to certain places. A guy got frisked by the FBI for wearing them into a movie theater(they were prescription glasses) and the recording capabilities were turned off.

    12. If they cancel the game this late in the development, it means they didn’t even have a WiiU version to begin with. Just a bunch of lies all around.

    13. Knowing this game is gonna release soon, i can assume this is bullcrap, as most retailers must stock their stuff, in other words, being so close, they must have the game already on storage(awaiting the arrival)

    14. Dear Nintendo:
If you’re willing to invest in new ideas,
than you should be willing to invest the time and money in the people
who develop the games for the system you create as well as counter
their investments if the game they make for your systems were to fail.
That shows trust and willingness on both ends.

    15. I know it’s cool to take sides and all (it gives you a sense of identity), but really, if you wanna play ALL the best games available, you really need to own all the consoles, there’s no other way.

That’s the reason I’m not angry. I know Ubisoft has a business to take care off, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t wanted to cancel it but sometimes you gotta do what’s best for your company.

The PS4 is gonna be around for years and years, just work hard enough and buy it; it’s just $400, ain’t that expensive. Plus, you’ll experience the best version of Watchdogs out there.

      1. Exactly, and the fact that Wii U will only be 1% of the total sales of watchdogs makes the Wii U a must cancel.

        1. That tells me that X1 and PS4 are not as powerful as everything thinks the consoles really are if they’re maxing out the performance in a space of 2 months.

It should take a little while to utilise the hardware to get to “max performance”

      2. The gamepad will make the wiiu version the definitive version, as the game is not cancelled. It’s just another fanboy wishing he had a WiiU spreading rumors.

        1. What would make the gamepad so definitive ?!?!?!? Lolololololol nintenDronez are the worst. They have YET to use the gamepad in any way that warrants it as a must have for any game, its expensive to develop and its the only thing that’s keeping the Wii U price @300 even tho the systems really worth like $200

    16. Honestly, I dont see this game selling that well on any of the platforms anyways and even worse on Wii U on account of the smaller user base and the fact that generally speaking people who have a Wii U and will want to play this also have an xBox or PS console that they would in all liklihood prefer to play this title on….. (dont get me wrong, I love my Wii U)

      1. I’d probably prefer to play it on the WiiU, but if it is cancelled I could jsut play it on the PS3 so not a big deal for me.

      1. That’s what makes me wonder. People say it’s underpowered, yet they’ve a shred of evidence to back the claim up.

if they cannot, then they know nothing of hardware – a reason why reading up about it is needed.

    17. Pingback: La versión de Watch Dogs para Wii U podría estar cancelada | Tallon4

    18. Guys, gals, and sentient lamps. It’s all been a misunderstanding. The shop cancelled the preorders because the release date had not been given. It is unlikely that Ubisoft would cancel at such a late point. However it could be likely to be the last Ubisoft game for a while if sales are bad.

    19. I doubt it has been cancelled, but if it has been, I can understand why. Either way, I will be getting the game on my PS4. I was hoping to get it on my Wii U *if* they showed something that really utilized the gamepad’s functions in new innovative ways, but nothing was shown. Sooo…. PS4 we go!

      1. Still holding holding off till kingdom hearts 3. Maybe I’ll get lucky and they make a special edition ps4. Don’t care much for infamous, its a fun series, but its not favorite. The game looks great, just no interest yet.

    20. well that’s a socker!!! I did not expect to buy that game on the Wii u maybe on PC (same as all the assassin’s creed series). Saying that I was about to buy Rayman cause it cheap. To be fair with Ubisoft, Assassin creed 3 did not sell very much on Wii U, same for zombie Wii u (which is an exclusive), rayman I do believe did not sell well but across all the platform but Wii U version sell better worldwide. At the end of the day it’s just business unlike EA which I think is more personal.

    21. Nintendrones are crying now. Before the said this games going to be great. Now you have people saying “Oh well, I thought it looked stupid anyways and had no intention of buying it in the first place.”

“Ubisoft can burn down in flames for all I care. If Watch Dogs doesn’t come to Wii U I wish them ill will and don’t I care about whoever loses their jobs in the process of Ubisoft’s downfall.”

Drone’s I think it’s time to realize that the Wii U is not relevant. Please go back into your hidey hole. Because, when you saw the Wii & then the 360 & PS3 came out. You nintendrones weren’t saying anything.

          1. The EXACT same things YOU say about the Wii U are the EXACT same things people said about the 3DS. Look at it now.

The EXACT same things people said about the DS is the EXACT same things people are saying about the Wii U now. How’d that turn out? 153 million sold.

The EXACT same things people said about the Wii are the EXACT same things people are saying about the Wii U now. How’d that turn out? 100 million sold.

‘Damage control’ is a term used by people whom aren’t intelligent enough to support their viewpoint with facts or are too lazy (assuming they even exist) to look them up.

The point isn’t why am I talking about the 3DS. The point is why are you talking at ALL when it is crystal-clear that you have no idea on what you are talking about and only come here to troll Nintendo to get attention you probably are lacking from your life. There is no other logical reason. You are no so dilapidated to think anyone actually cares, are you?

The bottom line is that doom and gloom was forecast for each of Nintendo last three products and they all turned around to break sales records in some fashion.

            1. All of which xpander2k has said is completely true.

People said this and that about the consoles and yet people realised that they’re all good consoles. It’s all about giving people something different. It proves that all about having power is nothing!

              1. Historically the most powerful consoles have failed and the least powerful consoles have succeeded.

1st-Gen – Nintendo Color TV Game
                2nd Gen – Atari 2600
                3rd Gen – NES
                4th Gen – SNES
                5th Gen – PS1
                6th Gen – PS2
                7th Gen – Wii

In each case the winning console was either the weakest specs-wise of it’s generation or had one or more consoles with greater specs. Consoles like Magnavox Odyssey, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, NEO-GEO, N64, and XBOX all did very poorly despite being far more powerful than the console that won the generation. The only time that having a powerful console and winning came together was with the SNES which was more powerful than the Genesis but only slightly less-powerful than the NEO-GEO which had a CPU that destroyed the SNES CPU. However everywhere else it was pretty much equal.

Hype only can get you so far. With 3rd parties falling apart left and right it’s going to be tough-sledding going forward if that is your bread and butter.

    22. Well hang on a minute, just because they’ve got nothing to comment on, does not mean it’s cancelled. I am looking really forward to this game.

It will sell if they do a really good job of the game. I won’t be getting this for any other console than Wii U. I did not spend £380 on a console and a game to simply play nothing on it.

All this hate and crap really must stop. It’s really not helping.

      1. You are so right man, this whole nonsense should stop. I bought the console in December and I knew about the current situation but after reading a string of negative articles I must admit I had to think about it twice before going ahead. I am sure that for some others, this media bullshit has been a strong reason to hold back.

Nintendo has made some mistakes but the console is actually great and with lot of potential. I just hope to see Iwata dressed in military uniform saying: “you wanted console war… Now you have a war!” And announce games, changes, partnerships… Maybe in next Nintendo Direct :)

        1. Well knowing Iwata, he was able to change 3DS to making it sell really well. I reckon he can do it again. He admitted he made a mistake, and hopefully by putting the puzzle pieces together, he can hopefully full blast in fixing Wii U’s problems.

As I say, if he can do it once, he can do it again. Wii was a success and so was 3DS. Wii U can be too.

Firing him (which is stupid) won’t solve anything. I just hate seeing constant negative posts all the time.

People need to see that the console is meant to deliver new experiences. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that was gaming has now changed? How exactly is changing the design of the Xbox and PS4 controller exactly been revolutionary exactly?

I don’t use it all the time as I have the choice between the gamepad and the Wii U Pro Controller, but it’s easily a great idea which should be used to allow things that were not possible before. If I were a developer, I would love to brain storm down things that I’d want to do with it.

        2. Or maybe have a Nintendo Direct where Fils-Aime comes out dressed like Razor Ramon and looks at the camera and says, “You want a war…you GOT one!” and flick his toothpick at the camera as the nWo music cranks up.

I mean it’s time for Nintendo to get a little nasty. This hate on them has gotten out of control. Some people don’t believe fat meat is greasy and needed to get smacked every once in a while to be reminded that it’s not sweet. The last time Nintendo did that was the the 2010 E3 when they unveiled a bunch of core-related games for the Wii and revealed the 3DS. You can’t be ‘passive’ in the corporate world. Something Iwata maybe finally is starting to understand

          1. “Something Iwata maybe finally is starting to understand”. Cannot say I don’t agree with that.

If he admitted he read the industry wrong, then he can replace the puzzle pieces and then fight back hard.

            1. There is a lot of work to be done and repairing the Wii U situation will be the greatest challenge of his life, but it can be done.

I just hope that he understands HOW it needs to be done. The ship sailed on 3rd parties being on board. He blew that. So now start off with easier things. Platinum Games wants to be bought, so buy them. Silicon Knights NEEDS to be bought, so buy them. Capcom NEEDS to be bought, so buy them. Shin’en Multimedia would not be opposed to being bought, or buy them and expand their studio. Left Field Productions hasn’t done much since they bought themselves out from Nintendo, buy them back.

The key to getting back on top is 2nd party studios. Predominately Western ones too.

And the Wii U needs to be advertised a LOT more. They got a good start but they need to first show something that looks incredible to sell the public, and then let people know they aren’t fooling around anymore.

Quite honestly, I don’t need to see Iwata’s face ever again. Let Reggie do all the talking from now on. Iwata is not the image Nintendo needs. Reggie can speak to the core gamer on their level. Iwata cannot.

        3. Nope you fucked up, the Wii U is going to crash and burn like the wii, I have no regrets switching from Nintendo to Microsoft since Nintendo has no idea what the west wants

      1. Checked Amazon and it’s still there. I’ve got the game on my Wishlist. It would be very very very very very stupid to just let go of it.

I’ve bought most titles from Ubisoft now.

    23. To be honest, I see this being mostly possible. I mean, why not? Its not like people are making games for Wii U anyway… good going Ubisoft, just as we thought you were an actually supporter, you turned down at the worst time….

    24. I spent 400 for a ps4 to play the division now im passing on it and mu sell my worthless ps4. Ubisoft is ea2.0 a few launch titles then drops support no rb6 no recon juat ported/mainstream shovelware fuck em

        1. I’d just like to point out that Ubisoft hasn’t made a 3DS game since 2012 and had more Ubisoft games on it than the Wii U does.

          http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Search.aspx?plTag=3ds

          How’s the 3DS doing again?
43 million sold which is half the total install-base of the 360 and PS3 in just 2 and 1/2 years and fastest-selling console ever.

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lXdyD2Yzls

*drops the mic and walks off………..then runs back to pick the mic back up again*

Oh yeah I almost forgot, according to Ubisoft’s own site Watch Dogs is still on scheduled for the Wii U.

          http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Search.aspx?cal=cs

But hey….why bother with things like FACTS and COMMON SENSE right? NOW I’m done. :)

*drops the mic and walks off*

            1. Gee that’s funny. I could have sworn I posted a link to Ubisoft’s website showing the Watch Dogs is being released on the Wii U.

It’s pretty sad that you have no defend outside of saying “You are talking about the 3DS.” So let me embarrass you further because I apparently do it so well.

WARNING! If you don’t want to learn anything, now is the time for you to back out.

              ……..okay.

For starters, ZombiU started off a a game called “Killer Freaks From Outer Space” which was going to be a multiplat. The game looked absolutely horrible and in mid-development Ubisoft decided to scrap that idea and retool it as ZombiU. Sure the game had some promise, but it wasn’t optimized for Wii U hardware at all and was rushed to meet the Wii U launch.

              Their fault.

Rayman games have always traditionally sold well on Nintendo consoles. Seemed like a no-brainier to release a Rayman game on the Wii U. Everything looked good at first. Rayman Legends was even the first game available to play for the Wii U at kiosks in stores. It was the first game to show off the Wii U GamePad and some of the things it could do. The people who knew about the Wii U expected this game at launch, wanted this game at launch, and made the decision to buy the Wii U because of this game being at launch. Oops! I almost forgot. Ubisoft decided to postpone a FINISHED GAME so that they could make more money having it as a multiplat on the Wii U, PS3, and 360. What happened? Rayman Legends sold like crap.

              Their fault.

So for anyone who has a brain they can see that any problems with the Wii U were self-inflicted wounds by Ubisoft.

Watch Dogs is a game that ALSO started off as another game. In fact, the engine was built for a game called ‘Driver’ that never happened. So instead of building a brand-new engine from scratch for Watch Dogs, they are using a engine created for something else. It’s no wonder that Watch Dogs has had multiple delays. Probably because they are having issues getting it properly optimized……..just like ZombiU. Hmmm.

I’ve already shown that this story is BS and that Watch Dogs is coming to the Wii U anyway, but even if it weren’t it wouldn’t matter. It’s not like Ubisoft games are carrying the Wii U. If any 3rd party franchise loss could possibly hurt the Wii U it certainly would not come from Ubisoft. Losing Skylanders or Call of Duty from Activision would be more apt to the plight you are trying to get across. Those are established, proven, money-making franchises. For all we know Watch Dogs could flop harder than ZombiU did. People really need to get off this trip of 3rd party titles being the end-all be-all to save the day. I mean, did not having Battlefield 4 hurt the Wii U? Nope, and now not only does EA miss out on having extra revenue from having a game on the console with the largest install base of the 8th gen console, they’ve got a class-action lawsuit laid on them That’s what they get for being immature.

Some people are too dense to understand this, but Nintendo does not now nor ever have NEEDED 3rd party support. It’s nice to have, but Nintendo has always made it’s money on it’s own franchises. Something that for the most part Sony cannot do and Microsoft has only been able to do with a couple of franchises (Halo Gears Of War, Kinect series.) The 3DS is the top-selling console worldwide and the fastest-selling console ever. How many major Ubisoft titles have been released on the 3DS since the original launch line up? Nothing since 2012. Look at the top-5 selling Wii U games.

              1. New Super Mario Bros U -3.55 mil
              2. Nintendo Land – 2.78 mil
              3. Super Mario 3D World – 1.68 mil
              4. New Super Luigi U – 1.22 mil
              5. Wii Party U – 1 mil

Now look at the top-5 selling PS4 games.

              1. Call of Duty: Ghosts – 1.63 mil
              2. FIFA Soccer 14 – 1.29 mil
              3 Battlefield 4 – 1.28
              4. Killzone: Shadowfall – 1.23
              5. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag – 1.22

Now let’s look at the top-5 selling XBOX One games

              1. Call of Duty: Ghosts – 1.39 mil
              2. Battlefield 4 – 1.05 mil
              3. Forza Motorsport 5 – 940,000
              4. Dead Rising 3 – 780,000
              5 Ryse – 700,000

So the moral of the story kiddies is that even IF Watch Dogs gets canceled, the Wii U will be just fine without it. You wanted Wii U facts relative to Ubisoft, you got em. So now what will your excuse be? Please, try to retain SOME dignity to yourself and your family name. Don’t bother me again on this.

              1. TL;DR. Please shorten. But I did read about NSMBU.. Which comes with the console.. Also, NintendoLand comes with the console. Please, try to retain SOME dignity to yourself and your family name. Don’t bother me again on this.

    25. If it’s truly confirmed to have been canceled soon, I withdraw my last support of any Third Class Power…

Nintendo and Indie Tribes only from now on!

    26. So many stupid people here. In all likely good, the game was cancelled for the Wii U in smaller territories. Ubisoft’s spent a lot on this game already, they’re gonna cut costs where they can and a Wii U localization to territories like Italy or really anywhere in Europe just isn’t worth it to them. Too many costs for too few of an install base to make up for it. And everyone being “screw Ubisoft’s, they lost my support” blah blah blah, geez, you’re just being whiny idiots. The Nintendo fan base is only a couple million at most, Ubisoft sells to the general consumer. If you weren’t to support them that would only hurt their sales by maybe a couple hundred thousand, but the mainstream crowd out their can still get them millions, so they don’t need to worry about some butthurt fanboys. If a game is good, buy it, if a game sucks, don’t, but don’t hate a company for making a business decision that really makes the most sense. They’ve supported the Wii U more than practically any other third party. This is why Nintendo consoles end up as Nintendo only boxes. I’m sorry, I like Nintendo, but there are a lot of genres that they don’t do either at all or enough to keep me satisfied, so they need some third party support, enough to fill the gaps, and they need their fans to buy the games that their THIRD PARTY PARTNERS put on the system. Seriously, the stupidity here is unbelievable, and all just for a rumor as well.

      1. Not saying you’re wrong, but people can still buy third-party games, and yet third-party games wouldn’t come out on the system. For an example of this, look at the PC.

A side note, in a business sense, this game should only be release on the 360 and PS3. After all, that’s the consoles that most people have.

    27. you are all idiots, have you thought why the game is only being said in italy and nowhere in the states, amazon and places internationally, so all of you butthurt not saying to not support ubisoft mainly the only third party publishing on nintendo now you’re going to boycott nice move.

    28. I wont be using my nintendo news anymore a place full of idiotic people especially the guys that post these news.

    29. It’s a shame… I thought that Ubisoft was different to all of the pathetic companies, I was actually going to buy this game for the Wii U because I thought it was going to be great on Wii U, I will never buy a Ubisoft or EA game again until they take the “hardcore” stick out of their holes…

    30. If they canceled nobody would even give a shit. This game won’t sell, if its on WiiU, more than 1-2.5% of the total amount. What’s the point for them. I can totally understand if it was actually on a console where there is a hope to sell something on it. But when majority of dead console’s audience is babies.. and when you have released several games in the past on it, and they failed on it.. you gotta make decisions.

      1. ZombiU was trash. I literally threw it in my garbage. No joke. I didn’t even sell it back to Gamestop or eBay or keep it with the rest of my Wii U games. I just picked it up and tossed it away. Bye bye… good riddance. I don’t care I have money to burn..

          1. I would say best since the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 as the franchise has been betraying its survival horror roots with each new episode (Well revelations does look better) but I agree.

Zombie U is not a master piece and could be improved everywhere you look except controls (the gamepad here was just awesome) but the sum of its parts makes them a great game. To me it has no comparison as a plain survival horror.

An improved ZombieU 2… I know it’s not happening but it would have been a day one purchase, and like its predecessor, a candidate to be one of my favourite games of all time.

            1. Absolutely not perfect. Zombi U had a lot of bugs and glitches but I totally agree.

If this game had a sequal with a real budget it would be amazing.

Such a waste. People not buying it due to stupid reviews from IGN and Gamespot.

    31. Well, so long Ubisoft. I enjoyed your games when you actually gave them to me. My 360 has too many games, and you’re not helping that fact. Not buying Watch Dogs.

    32. I know this is completely off topic, but I have been doing some reading on Project CARS for Wii U, and I am absolutely stunned to be honest. In fact I am gob smacked.

Apparently the developer is only using a single core of Wii U and they’ve threaded lots of the code and they’ve optimised like hell.

I’ve seen a video of it, not going to lie, I almost thought it looked like proper real life racing.

And developers are saying it’s under-powered and not next gen…HA!

        1. Multi-threading is NOT using more cores, more using the power of a single core and putting the codes into the right place.

    33. Watch_Dogs is done. I’m done. I give up any and all hope I had for the console.I can’t believe I’ve been so stupid to invest my money in these financially hard times and to be fucked all over the place with the Wii U. Selling it isn’t even worth it anymore. I suppose I’ll keep it for mario kart and smash. Thank you Nintendo, suck a big one.

      1. I was like that. Until I realised the Wii U wasn’t getting any games. I wasted my money on it and I can’t even get a decent price for it. I’m only keeping it for X & Mario Kart 8.

    34. Pingback: Kotaku Says GameStop US Now Cancelling Watch Dogs Wii U Pre-Orders | My Nintendo News

    35. That is pretty worrying statement.
They cancel this, and I might never buy another Ubisoft game for any platform I own.
Too many broken promises, can’t really deal with a company like that.
