Japanese gaming publication Famitsu is reporting that Nintendo 3DS sales have passed the 15 million mark in Japan. This figure accounts for both the original Nintendo 3DS and the larger Nintendo 3DS XL. Silconera says that while it’s an impressive statistic, Nintendo 3DS sales were down year-over-year in 2013. This is undoubtedly something that Nintendo will address in the months to come.

Well that’s good to know, at least nintendo is still the leader when it comes to 3ds sales. I just hoped that the wiiu would have made the same u turn the 3ds did back in 2011. :/
The wiiu is seriously looking like another wii.. Not that much third party support, and it does have awesome first and second party games but it’s just not enough to make it any non-casual gamer’s primary console. Just another ”companion” console to have with the xbox one or ps3.

The console market is saturated. Xbox 360, PS3, Wii all extremely well. Console manufactures must offer more incentives for sales. The Wii U does not offer enough incentive to invest in the underpowered console with few games.
Also the DS saturated the portable console market. It is hard to justify purchase of new console without incentives. The 3DS is doing well but next to the DS it is just starting to build its library of games.
