Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has given fans another glimpse into the Wii U and 3DS game, this time showcasing the home-run bat. Of course, it’s no surprise that the home-run bat is making another appearance in the brawler, with it seeing even the most poker face of competitors crack a sweat or quiver at the knees on its arrival in the field.
The black home-run bat, showing in the Wii U screenshot above, instills fear into the biggest of the apes, with Donkey Kong’s eyes bulging as he’s thrown out of the arena at great speed. Toon Link is not to be messed with here. Here’s what Sakurai said on Miiverse:
“Pic of the day. The Home-run Bat in this game is black! And it’s so powerful that your eyes might bug out!!”

New design looks awesome. Looks like some crazy “super bat” that can hit dudes into space, so yeah, quite fitting.

One thing I noticed in the pictures they release is the facial expressions. I seriously hope this doesnt drop near the end of this year…lord knows nintendo could use the sales.

The animation looks different than what the old bat animation was. Certainly darker. I wonder what the sound effects for this will be.

Am I the only one that thinks Sakurai did a much better job animating Donkey Kong’s fur in HD than Retro? DKCTF fur just doesn’t look good.
