Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has revealed exactly which titles gamers are looking forward to the most in Japan this week. The long-awaited Mario Kart 8 is sitting pretty in second position and Hyrule Warriors has climbed to number nine. You can see the top twenty most wanted games in Japan, below.

Smash is in 5th place when Wii U and 3DS numbers are merged. Think about all of the Wii U sales lost by having it on 3DS too.

A 3DS Atlus game? We’ll get it, eventually. It’s a persona 3&4 spin-off game. I’m actually really curious about it. Comes out in Japan in May. US will probably get it 6-12 months later. Time frames for localization vary quite a bit
Well, Atlus is owned by Sega now, and they’ll be purchased by Nintendo soon.

Wasn’t the 3DS Version of Smash Bros. higher in another list, it was earlier in the year. But I’m glad to see that Mario Kart and Smash Bros. are there, especially with MK being at no. 2

Smash was a surprise to me. I thought the 3ds version would have more votes, but I think the wii u version will do better then people might think. Zelda might be doing well as well, they love DW games over there. Mario Kart is no surprise

not really, people still don’t know when smash comes out, so they are getting excited for the games they know are coming out soon as they are going to see them soon, and for KH3, it’s because people been wanted that since the ps3 came out
People have been waiting for smash 4 for a while now, so people have a reason to be excited. Plus the game is getting a better balance set up. Though we don’t know a date we can assume it comes this call maybe nov. The games that I see higher then smash, is that japan loves the hell out of those games( especially FFXV and kingdom hearts). People should be more shocked with the 3ds version
If you actualy fallow Nintendo you would be aware that Sega and platinum are way higher on the list then capcom is. Also capcom wouldn’t sell to Nintendo they might sell megaman or a franchise but not the whole thing.

People are surprised about Smash Bro? That game didn’t sell much in wii version. What do you expect?
actually its the best selling in the series, but melee is praised by smash fans. Smash 4 seems to going back for a better balance then brawl. Also people are shocked to see the wii u version of smash to be so high, since many thought the 3ds version was the hot topic. It does show japan is looking forward to smash most all. I’ve said many times that the 3ds version of smash is more casual play, while the wii u one will be for hardcore play.

its highly due to wii bundles that it sold that much. I think they are planning the same with 8. Wii play sold that much for the extra remote, it just came with a free game. Smash has smaller group, mario kart is aimed for everyone
What surprises me the most is how far up smash bros Wii U is from 3DS. Especially since this is japan where handheld is king.
Yeah, maybe they prefer console fighters, I don’t remember street fight IV 3D edition, and some other fighters doing that well. Maybe it won’t effect the sales as much as people thought
street fighter was one of the first 3DS games to reach 1 million sold if I remember correctly.
If it did my mistake, but since japan, tends to have a more serious tone for fighters, that might be why its higher then the 3ds version
