Nintendo has shared via Twitter the first look at the Cheep Cheep Lagoon course in Mario Golf: World Tour on the Nintendo 3DS. The image is clearly a beautiful render, but it gives a nice glimpse of how the course could look. Mario Golf: World Tour is due for release on May 2nd in Europe and North America.

      1. Perhaps, but there’s more to gaming than just graphics as I’m sure you know. Mario Golf lends itself to a handheld because it can be played in short sessions. There is also a potential for some pretty cool Street Pass implementations. Personally, I think the 3DS makes perfect sense for this game, but that’s just my opinion.

      2. I understand what you’re saying but I played Toadstool Tour on the gamecube and that had amazing graphics and gameplay at the time. Same could’ve happened for the U. Here’s to hoping Wii U gets a Mario Golf game too.

      3. That’s true. I think 3DS games look good on that screen though. Not console good, but I don’t find myself wishing they looked better either.

      4. True. The 3ds graphical capabilities are still pretty good for a handheld. I’m still picking this up because I love the Mario Golf series, but I still hope that they will make a U Mario Golf in the future.

      5. Agree completely. It’s something I’m much more likely to play on a handheld. I can have a movie on at the same time or what have you.

      1. It already does! You can play the 8-bit, NES game, Golf! Right there on your next-Gen console! Now THAT’S taking advantage of the WiiU!!

        … -.- :(

    1. yeep… but the U gets only platformer :-(
it looks awesome, but the game on 3ds would never look like this.
when i saw the picture, i thought it would be for the u

  1. The graphics look pretty good! I’ve never been a huge Mario Golf fan, but maybe this one will be pretty good. It’s too bad that it couldn’t have been for the Wii U, but this is all right. The Wii U is about to get some pretty solid games in the form of Hyrule, MK, and Smash Bros after all.

    1. Those aren’t the graphics. It’s not a still from the game, it’s a separate rendering just to give you an idea of the course.

    2. Don’t forget Donkey Kong. Tropical Freeze is a very promising title because its Retro and David Wise returning.

  2. AGHHHH LOOK AT THIS. Why no proper open world Mario Adventure on the Wii U!? It could look like this. But have Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy adventuring instead of golf. COME ON.

      1. Yeah the game is for 3DS, I know. But I’m pretty sure that’s not an actual screen shot from the game. There’s no way that’s a 400×240 picture, looking as good as it does on my computer screen.
I think it’s much more reminiscent of what an underwater level of a full Mario 64/SS/G for Wii U would look like.

      2. Everyone has already confirmed that this isn’t a screen shot from the game. Try reading some comments before you look like just another angry ass

    1. I look at MK8 and wish that you were able to walk around freely in the environments.

Just look at most of the courses; it’s as if that they were supposed to be in a 3D Mario game…

      1. Love your ideas, only thing I would change about it though is that if it were a 3D Mario game, we don’t get stuck with just Mario or him as the main protagonist. Give us free playability among any character and just explore.

      2. You know, it would definitely be a change of pace from the traditional Mario formula. They could have characters such as Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, even Bowser to be playable again. I don’t know, the Mario Universe definitely has a TON of characters that could work as a playable character in a 3D Mario game.

It’s just up to Nintendo to step out of their comfort zone.

      3. they just need to make Rosalina playable and im happy.
also im pretty sure waluigi was cofnrimed for this game

      4. SAVE MARIO FOR ONCE! or twice………peach saved him and luigi in super princess peach.

      5. OMG. So WHAT, if each MK8 room supported 12 drivers and the next 12 to play could be observers while they wait for the track? The observers could walk around the track and various buttons could cheer or jeer racers as they race by! :D Damn that would be fun!!

      6. That’s a good idea! In fact why this couldn’t be this be the hub world of the Wii U. You will be able to free roam the entire Mushroom Kingdom and you’ll come across “Landmarks (A.K.A) the courses” which then you can view matches in real time. That would be cool!

    2. Sunshines level design was so bland and i can see why they prefer the linear levels like galaxy and 3d world cause theres a lot of platforming.

  3. now at e3 I hope they announce a MARIO GOLF / TENNIS / swimming (wait…lol.)

or better yet.STRIKERS and show off courses + UNDERWATER ONE TOO!

  4. I have a Wii U but I still think this game would benefit better on 3DS. (Even though I don’t own one) You could argue about the graphics being on Wii U but for a game like golf I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t matter that much. Plus the added bonus of portability. If you want HD you can get Wii Sports Club golf.

    1. Oh believe me it matters. When I played Toadstool Tour on the GCN, I spent a lot of time admiring the different courses. Each one was unique and beautiful in its own way.

  5. Why bother rendering an image like that when the rendering power of the 3DS is incapable of producing images like that. Annoying habit of Nintendo. If it was on the Wii-U with those types of graphics… yes. I’d buy it!

  6. Why not make this game for the Wii U? The 3DS is doing fine, it’s the Wii U that’s struggling.

I’ll still buy it, but I’ll be very confused while doing so. What’s the point?

    1. Mario strikers U is probbalu in development.
next level have finished with lugi mansion 2 and so they must be doing something else. usually they do Nintendo related stuff and they are 2nd party since late last year.

  7. As long as Camelot is able to explore and exploit all the capabilities of the 3DS for a new Golden Sun I’m ok with with anything they bring till then.

  8. Cool underwater courses I can’t wait for this game to come out looks fun and the graphics aso look nice I hope there’s rpg game play

  9. I am a hardcore gamer but it’s good to relax and play a casual game once in a while I can not wait for this to be released
