Nintendo Financial Briefing Document Says Monolith Soft X Is Coming This Year To US And Europe

The Nintendo financial results briefing for fiscal year ended March 2014 says that Monolith Soft’s highly anticipated X will be coming to North America and Europe sometime this year. The document also has Yarn Yoshi and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem listed, though both these titles release dates are listed as to be determined.

  1. YES YES YES. this is the game that would make me buy a wiiu if i didn’t have one already. i bet at E3 it will be announced.

    1. I bought my Wii U with the anticipation for this game, as well as several others. It will be one of the highlights of the Wii U for sure, possibly the best on the system. See you there on Day 1 :P

      1. I did the same, and two years later I get the game they used to hook me into the system…*sighs* I guess I’m grateful it wasn’t cancelled. Day one for me also!

      2. I didn’t buy my Wii U for X. I got it because of hype. I wanted to get it as soon as possible… Huge mistake. Now it’s cheaper, has better games, and now. a MK8 bundle. Wtf was I thinking? The 30¢ promotion didn’t help at all. Being an early adopter SUCKS. Now I feel cheated. :(

      3. I don’t. I knew full well the risk of being an early adopter. I don’t regret being an early adopter of the 3DS either. Sure I was part of the ambassador program but considering some of those games are releasing to the Wii U now, it doesn’t seem like such a big reward now.

      4. You mean the risk that Nintendo would again fail to keep their word… Something about getting 3rd party support and not repeating the 3DS software drought?
Yep. I’m an idiot for believing them and foolishly buying my WiiU while Nintendo dangled X and Bayo 2 on a stick.

Now I know the risk. Don’t believe anything they say until they have the software ready to put where their mouth is.

I’m happy with my WiiU now, but I was so fucking pissed for over a year and I don’t need that stress, I’ve got even less important things to stress about. :)

      5. No. The risk that most 3rd parties suck these days when it comes to supporting Nintendo. That Nintendo only releases a few games that will actually interest me. These are the risks I take with buying a console during it’s first 6 months of release. But better to have a lack of games than a backlog of 10-20 games. In the end, I’m as picky when it comes to video games as I am when it comes to my food.

      6. I was a early adopter because I wanted to be someone to get others to buy it and spread the word, I terms to be “that guy” with most of my freinds and any tech, like a OS, phone, controller, exe.

Also the time I have with the 10% back promotion would be longer. I have gotten Mario 3D for only 20$ because I had 40$ worth of points.
        And several free indie games.

      7. Yep. If Nintendo does not LAUNCH with 1st party IP’s like Mertoid, Zelda, Star Fox, etc… I’m not buying the console. This is the last fucking time they burn me.

Everyone can have fun on their Mario-machine, and then when the price comes down and the games I want to play are out, THEN I’ll buy it. I’ve been an early adopter since the Super NES and I fucking quit.

      8. as an early adopter i have earned 7730 points ($77.30) in digital download promotion so far which is pretty cool considering there is only 6 months left, plus i’ve seen some pretty great sales along the way.

      9. o.O Whoa! You’ve been downloading a lot of games & buying a load of DLC, huh!? I should check back with mine later & see how much I’ve accumulated now.

*looks at Tallon Ridley and then looks back at you*

I barley got 5 bucks on mine…four hard copies (Super Mario Bros. U, Monster hunter 3 ultimate, Nintendo land, and Super Mario 3D World) and one digital download (Zelda Wind Waker HD).

        I can’t believe that one.

      11. Me too. Imagine how much we would have had if there would have been given an actual library of games the first year.

    2. This, Mario Kart 8 and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem are the reasons I want a Wii U. Hopefully getting one in June.

    1. SMT X Fire Emblem is the only game remaining I’m waiting for news on too. Let’s just hope for more details at E3, it was listed in the recent financial report as TBD.

  2. I would be surprised if it doesn’t get pushed back to 2015.

In all the footage we’ve seen (which is admittedly, quite old footage for sure) the game looks nowhere near finished.

Maybe they’ll get it out in Japan on the 31st of December. But I can see it being 2015 elsewhere.

    Like

      1. In the trailers we’ve seen, a lot of the enemy models have no A.I. They don’t move at all. The camera follows the main character and pans around him and scenery, but if you look at the enemy models they’re completely still, not doing anything.

And in the most recent clip which showed a battle with an enemy. The A.I. didn’t seem complete there either. The battle looked a bit clunky and unfinished.

That footage would be really old by now though. I can see them finishing the Japanese version this year. But I don’t see them getting all the translation and localisation done before 2015.

I’d be extremely happy to be proven wrong though. I’m looking forward to this game.

      2. Well, as far as I know, Nintendo translators nowadays often work closely with the development teams, so the game might be translated at the same time it’s developed, which makes a release this year a lot more likely. Also, if you think back, Pokémon X & Y also had a simultanous release worldwide and those games had a lot of text. If they can do it with Pokémon, I’m pretty sure they can do it with X, too. Maybe a few months delay at best. And if you think back: Even Xenoblade Chronicles back then only took so long to get to the west because Nintendo hadn’t expected that there was so much interest in the game. But with X, they know a lot better than that.

        Like

      3. Yep. Nintendo has learned from Xenoblade Chronicles that they do have fans of the JRPG genre buying their consoles over here in the United States.

        Like

      4. They did it with pokémon because it’s a highly profitable title. They could spend a bit more money on getting it translated simultaneously but would receive loads more back because of the worldwide release. X isn’t going to cash them like a pokémon title would. Even monster hunter which sells extremely well in the west, still does not get simultaneously released and translated. I see the odds of X being translated quickly very low.

      5. Monster Hunter is Capcom, though. Capcom are always slow in localising their games. I remember when it always took them over a year to get their Mega Man games on the GBA from Japan to Europe.

        Like

      6. Yeah, that’s why they have the Treehouse now. Funny Sony don’t have to worry about that since their Japanese teams aren’t making anything.

        Like

      7. Well, those two trailers are from January 2013 and June 2013, so they’re definitely outdated.

The camera circled around around the character because the controller made it do that… The game wasn’t defective or anything. They were just showing everything around the character using the right analog stick.

It depends on the monster itself. Some move more than others. We’ve seen some of them move around outside of battle already.

Well, you’d think the Japanese version of every Nintendo game would release first, but that’s not the case. “Skyward Sword” released in NA a few days before JP, as did a lot of their first-party games. And besides, Nintendo has known for a long while how bad the Wii U was doing. No doubt they started early on localisation.

        Like

      8. I wasn’t saying it was defective. I was pointing out what movement was there and what wasn’t. If the camera wasn’t panning around constantly, it would be easier to notice that some of the enemies don’t have any A.I. or animations in those trailers.

As I said, I’ll be glad to be wrong. But I think if any of the Wii U’s upcoming games are going to slip into 2015, X would be the one. They’ll certainly get Smash Bros, Bayonetta, Yarn Yoshi and Hyrule Warriors out this year. But I think X could go either way, at least in some regions.

If at E3 we get a release date or at least a new trailer showing off a lot more of the game and showing it looking like its in a more complete state, then that’d be brilliant.

        Like

      9. I agree, as an open world game that’s sure to make Xenoblade look tiny, it should be the one to slip to 2015.
But it shouldn’t. Xenoblade released in Japan in 2010. They’ve been working on this for nearly 4 years now, as Xenoblade was a “test” for this game. It’s about time it’s released.
In the meantime, I’ll be watching all the trailers repeatedly .-.

        Like

    1. I hope not, but it is entirely like them to delay games. Release dates are pretty much worthless to Nintendo fans, and I wish Nintendo would stop using them.

We get the games when they are done, and no one knows when that will be. Once we grasp that concept, it makes life less stressful. Nintendo’s pretend release dates and release “windows” don’t achieve anything but making them look bad when they can only hit half of them at best

      Like

      1. It’s not like other companies fair much better though. Everyone misses release dates and windows all the time. Try working for any company larger than just a few people. It’s a miracle if anything ever gets done on time.

I’d like other companies to follow Apples release methods more closely. “Reveal new product. It’s available….NOW!” Then the fans can buy it right away, and they can heavily advertise the product afterwards to attract everyone else.

The current method of advertising before a game is released, gets the fans purchasing, but most likely loses a large chunk of everyone else as they’re bound forget about it or be distracted by something else by the time the product actually comes to market.

        Like

      2. That’s fair enough, but I’m not getting sucked in by game reveals anymore. It’s my fault for assuming X and Bayo2 would be released the first year. I don’t think it was cool for Nintendo to flash those around, then delay the hell out of the rest of their games, then put us through ANOTHER drought, then just through a bunch of Mario and DK at me.

They should have flashed DK and Mario as launch games, then the fans of those could be the early adopters. Instead, they go after mature gamers with X and Bayo, then fuck us over. God I get so fucking pissed thinking about how tricky that was. And I fucking fell for it.

      3. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t recall them promising those games the first year of the Wii U’s life. It’s not Nintendo’s fault you got overhyped & assumed those games would be out within the Wii U’s first year. (But as I said, if I’m wrong, correct me because I really don’t remember much of those teaser trailers.)

  4. This will be the game to show just what the Wii U can do. I firmly believe it’ll look better than the ps4 titles out now.

    1. Firmly believing doesn’t change facts. The wiiu’s gpu is nowhere near the power of the ps4’s gpu. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can start enjoying the wiiu for what it is with its unique exclusive.

      1. I know that. But some games will look better than others because it’s always up to the developers. Besides 3rd partys don’t count because they’re still trying to get used to the new tech.

  5. Why doesn’t Nintendo show more of the game? Maybe they will show these games off at E3. But they also need new anouncements for new Zelda, new Metroid, etc. maybe F-Zero DLC for Mario Kart 8 and maybe Sonic Racing DLC for Mario Kart would be cool.

    1. F-Zero DLC for Mario Kart 8?!! Why aren’t you working for Nintendo son’? That’s like the best idea ever.

  9. Okay so this year, based upon what I know, it looks like I will be getting Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, and X. Not too shabby of a line-up if you ask me. Oh and of course I will be buying third party games like Watch_Dogs and Sonic Boom when they come out for Wii U.

  10. Almost halfway through 2014, we’ve barely seen anything about this game, and it’s supposed to be released in the next 6 months? Come on, Nintendo. You’ll have to market and advertise more than just Mario and Smash Bros for the WiiU to sell.
