Sakurai Shows Off Boomerang Item In New Smash Bros Wii U Screenshot

Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai has shown off a new item in today’s Miiverse post. The Wii U screenshot displays both male and female Wii Fit trainers mid-brawl with a powerful attack from the boomerang, first featured in Super Mario 3D Land. In his post on Nintendo’s social channel, Sakurai says the boomerang may be an easier item for fans to use in Smash Run.

The blue and white boomerang joins a host of new items for Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS, including the Fairy Bottle and Gust Bellows from The Legend of Zelda series. Here’s what the brawler’s director said on Miiverse:

“Here’s a new item that we’ve thrown in–the boomerang. As you’d guess, it’ll fly back into your hands after you throw it, and if you keep catching it, its attack power grows with each throw! However, opponents can nab the boomerang out of the air, so it might be an easier item to use in Smash Run.”

  1. What if you throw it off to the side and catch it over and over to build up power then finally throw it at an opponent for a powerful blow? I also wonder what directions you could throw in.

  2. I can tell this this will be equally as annoying as it was in Mario Kart 8. On a side note, I’m surprised that Sakurai even said that this will be useful in Smash Run since it will be a pretty broken item there.

Smash Run is meant to be a mode where you take out tons of enemies at once. In Kirby Air Ride, the game that Smash Run is inspired from, you wanted to get the most powerful items to take out as many enemies as you could to collect the items they dropped. I remember getting the Plasma copy ability in the game so I could charge it up and zap all enemies on screen and then picking up all their power ups.

It’s not broken, it’s just part of the game.

  3. That’s actually not a Mario boomerang, since those have stripes. This is the blue boomerang from older Zelda games.

    1. There is a white stripe. It’s on the left half of the boomerang, though a little hard to make out.

  4. For me to be a substantial carber with PCOS, I find I’ve to restrict my refined carbs. I try to eat things such as potatoes/sweet potatoes ocassionally but bread is exactly what I specially seek to view out for. I try to eat a great deal of beans, veggies, some fruits and many entire grains. I believe glycemic load is something to look into. I applied South beach food plan like a common guideline after i very first began dropping zi xiu tang bee pollen capsule and that diet plan relies on glycemic load.
