A Nintendo representative has told Kotaku that the amazing Zelda Wii U footage shown by Nintendo during its E3 Digital Event was all using the in-game engine. You can watch the preview footage of the open-world Zelda title, above.

I hope this game is a sequel of sorts to Skyward Sword & we get to see the unnamed land slowly turn into Hyrule over the progress of the game time skipping over a span of 10-20 years.

A-fucking-men! >.< Wind Waker AND Twilight Princess BOTH taught me this lesson. Disappointed with Wind Waker's graphics but fell in love once I watched a trailer for it on the Ocarina of Time Master Quest preorder bonus as the game became one of the best Zelda games I've ever played. Was overjoyed with Twilight Princess's graphics but the bland colors, lifelessness of the fields, & the subpar story with Zant going from the main badass villain to another Ganondorf/Ganon lackey & everything else that could have been with the story like maybe a darker side to Link getting revealed made it one of my least favorite Zelda games. "Let's give Link a sinister grin after he's been told about the power of the Fused Shadow but NEVER capitalize on it with a darker turn for our hero!" But I digress. I can't wait for this Zelda. I want it NOW!!

This game will be amazing, the art style looks great and Hyrule Field is beautiful and with all of that being the in-game engine it makes it much more impressive. I personally also think Link looks quite cool, it’s time for a slight change and with all of you complaining about his clothes remember that a whole bunch of Zelda games like The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess have Link start off with different clothing.

Narrative will suck donkey balls because it’s very difficult to engage the player with a range of themes and tone with such a limited visual style.
Game-play mechanics will similarly be simple because it’s just too cost and time infective to do anything complex with cel-shading.

I went to buy a wii game or a controller or something… and ended up buying a ps3 one day.
I loved my ps3 – massively better than my wii’s graphics. Didn’t think much more could really happen. Far cry 2 blew my mind like doom 3 did in its day.
Got a ps4. Everything looks better again – considerably better than my wii-u can do.
But you kind of have a point right now. Best looking game i own right now would be Wind Waker HD. Wolfenstein and such looks great on ps4, but trying to do ultra realism just makes things look plastic and stupid.
This game looks amazing. Very fantasy – not the dull colors of todays games, and everything looks smooth and rounded.
I didn’t think Mariokart 8 looked overly great (in fact, i don’t know how much i like the game at all. Can’t screw around enough).
All in all…. i think i contradicted myself and just ended up agreeing with what you said for the current generation.

Visuals are hard to rate against each other esspecially in a medium as diverse as games. But this did not look any more superior than anything on the PS3 or Xbox 360, let alone the newer consoles. As Reggie said in the Nintendo E3 Direct, not his problem if people got overhyped into thinking a tech demo showing off the Wii U’s capabilities was going to be the next Zelda with generic “realistic” graphics. All I hear from people complaining about the artstyle is “They didn’t give me what I wanted! Why aren’t they catering to my wants for Zelda!?” So few self-entitled complainers. And I do mean a few. If they don’t like it, there are other games with photo-realism that they can go play. Besides, it’s still too soon to judge the Legend of Zelda for Wii U.
