Hyrule Warriors Averages 74 On Metacritic

Reviews for Hyrule Warriors have poured onto popular review site, Metacritic. The Zelda and Dynasty Warriors fusion is currently sitting on a 74 on the review aggregation site. Video gaming site Polygon gave the game a 5.5 stating that “Team Ninja and Omega Force have forced Zelda’s universe into the confines of a beat-em-up, but much of the charm and appeal was strained out in the process.” However, Eurogamer give the game an 8 stating that “The marriage of Zelda and Musou is an unexpected success, then – a game that recounts the Zelda myth not just in a new way, but in a whole new language.”

    It what I’m afraid of. These reviewers arw treating this game like its somwthing else then a Zelda game. Then again, I’m also gonna have to sadly agree to a point. It was said to have more Zelda elements but was pulled from the idea and its one of the reasons why I’m second guessing on buying this game.

      as long as you aren’t treating it as one you won’t end up disappointed

      it’s a beat em up game that happens to be set in the zelda universe, but it’s not a zelda game…

          I don’t think so man. This isn’t supposed to be a zelda game in the warriors universe, it’s supposed to be a warriors game in the zelda universe. It would have been a mediocre zelda game anyway. There’s already a real zelda on the way so this being different is a good thing.

              Ya but that’s like that halo game that plays like an rts. For the average halo fan it’s a bad thing but that’s not the point. Everybody knows what the game is about beforehand. They don’t promote a game a certain way and then surprise you with something different when you buy it. We’ve known about hyrule warriors for months, we’ve seen footage of gameplay, we’ve had demos of the game. At this point if anybody is surprised that it’s not like a traditional zelda game its their own fault.

              For this Zelda fan, I’m glad it’s solidly a spin-off. No reason to go spoiling the brand with a fun but unpolished 3rd party romp. I like the idea of Nintendo sharing some IPs for side projects, but I want the main series’ to stay largely 1st party to ensure a quality product. Too many “Other M’s” and the Nintendo name will lose the association with polished products it has enjoyed for so long.

            Btw I’m not getting this game because the ai is almost nonexistent. It’s a shame, these games look like they could be really good if the enemy actually fought back.

                  The thing is that since they don’t die as quickly on the higher difficulty levels, they actually get the chance to hit you on those.

                  I’m pretty sure there will be a demo to try it out, it’s been a long time since we actually had a WiiU demo (presuming there has been one).

              I played some dw back in the days, and trust me if you up the difficulty the enemies will wreck you. .. Every mosou game is hard as fuck with higher difficulty, I’m still playing sen goku basara,

              Even chickens in this game can fight back if you play on hard. This is actually first “Zelda” game my friend has played and he really enjoyed playing this with me in co-op mode even when he has never liked Dynasty Warriors games. All items and Zelda style boss fights makes this game feel very different than other Warriors games i have played this far.

      It’s a dynasty warriors game. People messed up their own expectations by thinking Nintendo would allow them to use more Zelda elements.

      I very much enjoy Samurai Chronicle games, and will love Hyrule warriors, ashame people actually thought this would be a Zelda game, screwing over the Devs. At least Eurogamer understood what this game was.

    If you read the Kotaku review, they sum it up pretty well: It’s Dynasty Warriors, but with the Zelda characters. That’s it. There’s nothing else “Zelda” about it.
    I’m not sure why people were expecting something more akin to Zelda based off of all the trailers, videos, and info we’ve gotten about the game up until now.

        I sometimes wonder why they even care to come and bitch about what game they had before, and the sequel comes to another console and they just come and talk so much shit of how one console is better then the other, like what happened to bayonetta, no one wanted the fucking game, Nintendo paid to have a sequel made and what happens? THEY BITCH ABOUT IT! To be honest, I hate the word term “fanboy/fangirl”, “kiddie games”, and “powerful system bullshit”. I read a few of those peoples comments that ACTUALLY MADE SENCE…”Why can’t we just game along”? Or “we are gamers, why not just get along with each other”?

      I agree with ya’ Master- both games are kinda ‘meh and way overhyped. But mega fanboys are in the minority, for gamers. Sure there is the raging Nintendo lunatics on this site, that I am particularly not fond of, but I like to think there are more people out there who are willing to try other things/ get along out there. Perhaps I’m naive. Either way, I might pass on this game.

      I agree with the retardadtion of the fanboys but let’s be real destiny was overhyped and was supposed to be one of the greatest games ever. Bungie lied and made it seem like it was going to be something truely special. Nintendo didn’t lie about this game, we knew exactly what we were going to get. A lame dynasty warriors game with zelda characters and stuff. Nobody is really disappointed in this because we were expecting it to be like this, Destiny should be scoring in the 90’s lmao form all this fake hype and was i expecting anything more from these AAA games of recent years. NO, because they used to be a thousand times better and original. They always are fake marketed and fakely hyped now days.

    Well, it was expected. I don’t think this game was as hyped as Destiny. Pretty much they took the online co-op and throw it out the window, which is why I am a bit upset with this game. I still gonna buy it but Smash bros 3DS and Bayonetta 2 comes as my top priorities.

            You gotta keep in mind he is Miyamoto though, the man who basically built this company’s, and the industry’s, success. Can’t blame them for putting him at the head of the development section. They should focus his energy on only one game though, as you said the guy is everywhere and it can’t be good for his creativity.

    I figured this game would get very mixed reviews. I played it at Pax and thought it was a lot of fun. I know I’ll enjoy it and to me, that’s all that matters.

    It has nothing to do as being treated as a Zelda game, it is not a Zelda game, it’s DYNASTY WARRIORS, AND ITS A SHIT GAME OVERALL. I don’t recall any Dynasty Warrior games ever getting high reviews.

      Even if a game doesn’t get high reviews, it doesn’t mean you won’t like it. When you are more open minded, you can play some good games with a 4-7 review rating.

    We could have had a real hit if this was a traditional zelda game mixed with these elements. I think we could have got a new fresh hit to the zelda series, but instead myamoto fucked up and held back another game. So in the end we just got a straight forward lame repetitive dynasty warriors zelda skin. I never had hype for this at all and knew what the reviews would be. It’s a dynasty warriors game, it’s nothing special. Myamoto held a potential hit back, that’s all he does now days it seems, is holding teams back that are working on nintendo games. He needs to have less powers and no say in these things.

    Well this is why im looking forward to bayonetta 2 and never once was looking forward to this trash.
