The Legend Of Zelda Majora’s Mask 3DS Vs N64 Comparison Video

Didn’t spot the differences in the recently released trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3DS compared to the original Nintendo 64 version? Well NWR has kindly produced a video which showcases the visual changes between the two versions. We also found out yesterday that Majora’s Mask 3D will also take full advantage of the New Nintendo 3DS, but we’ve yet to find out what additional functionality there will be on the newer hardware.

Thanks, John

      1. I’m just stating my point to that fool. It looks better but I’m sure the gameplay still works wonders. XP

      2. Cause games need good gameplay first decent graphics are a plus so of course you would want a game that you already know has good gameplay and now has improved graphics still does not deter from the fact that gameplay should always be the main focus.

      3. How about this… the old av cable is not working on my flat screen and I have no old tv anymore. In fact, many people, who haven’t played or even saw the N64 and are interested into this game, can’t play the game. Now, Nintendo offers us the game and yes… with HD, because everything is HD nowadays, not that we need it. But I agree with you on one point; Graphic is not necessary, but gameplay. Heck, I would get this game even if they would just convert the game like it was on the N64 because I loved the game and would like to play again. This is why old games coming back to next gen consoles, so that other people can enjoy them as well. However, games like Last of Us or Tomb Raider on the PS4 is just wrong, because those games are not that old.

      4. *facepalm* No it isn’t. I don’t have a PS3 and I want to play Tomb Raider. Do you think I’m gonna buy the last generation system to play it on now even though I could get a superior version of it on PS4? No.

      5. *counter-facepalm* This game is not even ONE year old and has already a remake? Are you kidding me? This is the worst ripoff since Mass Effect 3! But yeah, what do you expect from an elitism fanboy like you. You go, sissy. Support the greediness of those bastards.

      6. *triple facepalm* Did you even read what I just said? I don’t have a PS3 so I can’t play the game now. I don’t care when the game released. I can get a superior version of it on PS4 and that’s a nice bonus for people like myself that didn’t get to play it last gen. Your excuse was weak. And your insults were even weaker. Try harder

      9. lol Umm no. It was always Mario that I played first. But I love Metroid and Prime 1 for the first time in 2004 when I got the GameCube, it blew me away. :)

      12. In my opinion, graphics do matter, but it’s not the only thing I care about. Some of my favorite things in games would have to be the stories and the soundtrack. And I especially like open world games. Graphics are just the icing on the cake. If there is ever another open world game with great graphics, an amazing soundtrack, has great controls, and has a really good story, then it would be one of the best games ever made! That’s why I think this new Wii U Legend of Zelda will be one of the greatest games ever made. :)

      13. Hey, it’s ridiculous to say that graphics don’t matter. Good graphics alone are nearly useless if a game is crap, but good graphics can help improve gameplay experience.

      14. They can help in a lot of ways. For example, good graphics can allow certain mechanics to a game that wouldn’t be possible with worse graphics, such as 3D mechanics. They can make things easier to see, they can add details that enhance the characters/environments, they can make things more pleasant to look at, etc. basically, while good gameplay trumps good graphics, good graphics can help enhance the experience. If it wasn’t for graphics improving, think of all the amazing games we couldn’t have gotten due to graphical limitations.

    1. The 3DS versions of OOT and MM are on par with Gamecube games. Resident Evil Revelations on 3DS is mildly inferior to the Xbox 360/PS3 counterparts.

  1. I am really impressed by the new moon. To be honest, the moon on the 64 only ever made me uncomfortable, but the one in the 3ds literally gives me the creeps

    1. I actually like the N64’s moon better.
The 3DS moon’s nose is too big imo. :P
      (1.01 in vid).
The looks of Majora’s mask also slightly changed it seems (1.30 in vid).

      1. I agree the moon looks more scarier but also more weird because of the nose. It doesn’t look much better. I prefer the looks of it on N64.

  2. Ok. 2nd and 3rd will do…
And I agree, not much sticks out but that moon how it shines! That’s the only thing that looks really well done

  3. I don’t know what you guys are talking about with the moon’s nose. It doesn’t look weird or proportionally too big.

That said, I actually think the N64 moon is the scarier one. To me it looks more evil.

  4. I’ve never been able to beat this game (or even get to the first dungeon). Hopefully since this a stand alone release and I’m paying money to specifically play it, I’ll be more invested and will put more effort I to actually seeing this one through.

  5. Wow, the differences are greater than I imagined. I never played the original, but it seems as though they’ve drastically updated and altered textures, models, and animations. There are a few new lighting effects used throughout, too. This is really blurring the line between remaster and remake.

  6. Possibly my most favorite game. Best Zelda experience for me yet. It will be so nice having this gem again. If you haven’t played Majora’s Mask, its well worth one or two play throughs.

  8. There is a mayors mask reference in bayonetta 2. There is one of the enemies with the same face twisting animation and the face is quite similar too. I think it was a trog or something like that.

  9. i will buy it because its my favorite zelda after links adventure, but it should look better.
    im disapointed.
i looks not much better, than n64…
yes a little bit more shape, visual effects… thats it :-(

      1. Not really, but the idea of cross-gaming would be interesting. Kind of like Smash, where you have two copies; one for the 3DS and one for the Wii U. You can play at home and on the train and when you’re back home, you simply transfer your save file to your Wii U and continues playing at home. Man, that would be sweet!
