    1. Good thing that they are putting out Wii titles even though the Wii U is already Wii compatible and not N64 and GC titles, because logic.

      1. Giving it that the games are half priced compare to the physical (which now warrants purchase since many complained about digital being expensive), now its a good time to get these. :) But I’m only buying SMG2 since I never played it and I got the possibly last copy of the limited edition of Metroid Prime Trilogy I luckily found in Walmart last year. :)

        1. That’s not the point. These games CAN be played on the Wii U already. GC games CAN’T.

          Is that simple enough?

This is a good thing, but it makes no sense.

          1. In a way, its beneficial in a good way for those who never had the chance to play certain games or can’t find one like me with Galaxy 2 since I never played it before and lets not forget how rare a new copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy is so this is an awesome step to revive the game by giving a digital for those who weren’t lucky to get it which I was lucky to find the possibly last brand new copy with the tin case and artwork.

            1. But they still CAN be played. Metroid Prime trilogy is a rare example of a Wii game that is completely out of stock everywhere. So by your logic, it makes more sense to release Wii games first because that one game is unavailable? What?

Actually, you can find Mario Galaxy on eBay, very cheap. Great Nintendo fan, not playing fucking Mario Galaxy 2. LOL

              1. Dude, one word: Options. For people like me who hasn’t tried the game nor found them, this is a convenient move. Not saying its the best thing ever happened but good enough for some, not all.

                  1. Have to agree w/ Noa. N64 & GCN games on eShop makes way more sense: N64 games need to escape Wii mode, & GCN games simply need to exist there.

While I can technically download Sin & Punishment & Cruis’n USA on my Wii U, I hate the Wii Shop Channel & think Wii Mode is a hassle. I keep passing on those games. I’ll go through that hassle only if I can get them via Club N.

&, even though I still have a GCN w/ controller, my collection of 50 GCN games, & a launch Wii, I’d rather download games I missed like Beyond Good & Evil & Capcom vs. SNK 2, maybe even RE 3. I might even double-dip w/ Eternal Darkness. Really neat if Doshin the Giant & Giftpia were made available in the US.

But, if Wii games like Klonoa & Arc Rise Fantasia were available, I’d be less inclined to scratch my head. But Nintendo’s being kinda lazy here, & looking for quick cash. Now, if the Fatal Frames for Wii & Captain Rainbow were released there for the US, well I might forgive them, @ least once I beat those games.

Also, Nintendo needs to push for Dreamcast games & Symphony of the Night.

If hard to find games that go for ridiculous prices online are the Wii games available for download on the Wii U, this is a great thing. Especially games like Metroid Prime Trilogy or The Last Story. (Take that you assholes trying to sell these games online for over 100 bucks! Ha ha!)

        1. Yes, I’m sure there are no expensive Gamecube titles. I could also find such examples. I wonder how long will it take for The Last Story to come out.

  1. Nintendo should have put a larger HDD into this machine if they wanted me to download. They’re losing money because I only buy physical copies of games for Wii U because of the puny HDD. I won’t download any eShop games.

    1. im buying me a hard drive. I find it very convenient downloading some games. I don’t have to get up eject a game and put in another. The downside is physical copies prices decline faster. I did buy Treasure Tracker and DKTF on eshope. But since Wii games are coming I know I will need a hard drive.Maybe Ill get one from Amazon.

  2. Will these be upscaled or anything? If SMG2 is at least upscaled, it’s worth a buy for me. This game is outstanding.

  3. Hey I have an idea. Let us pay $1.99 at least for Wii games we already own. Like verify it via club Nintendo or something. I’m not paying for any Wii games on Wii U otherwise.

    1. I agree. I registered SMG2 with CN and I still own the disc. I can go through the hassle of changing discs out before I pay another $10 (or $20 after the sale) for the same game. Of coufse, I would need to invest in a HDD, since Nintendo is fucking evil and won’t let me use my SD card which is now not being used in my 3DS XL since the new XL requires microSD. Because fuck logic.

    2. It would have nice if Wii and Wii U shared the same operating system and Gamepad was noticed as a classic controller. It is rather expensive just to play it on a Wii U controller and avoid Wii Mode.

  4. So torn on Galaxy 2. Love that game, but honestly not sure there’s enough benefit here (or even any benefit at all) to buy it again. If I thought the graphics were improved, or that it was playable with the Gamepad, then that would probably make my decision for me.

Metroid Prime Trilogy on the other hand is not a difficult decision at all. That game has been top of my list for years, and now it’s going to be at a convenient price.

    1. Too fuckin bad, Sasori. We, the Metroid fans, will wreck your ass up to the point that you get the fuck out of MyNintendoNews.

  5. Im sorry I did not by a wiiu to play nes. Snes wii or anything else. I wanted to play wiiu games. Soundsike a desperate company trying desperate thinvs to keep ppl on the wiiu because its long between games since there r no 3rd party games anymore.

Just sad. Spend money getti g 3rd partyies not old wii games

  6. Awesome! I wanted Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy, so it’s nice I’m getting a discount and not buying physical copies for inflated prices.

    1. It bricked my Wii U. Not joke I downloaded it, did the update, and pressed the icon. Wii U started making a buzzing noise and wouldn’t even force stop. So I unplugged it after 5 minutes of buzzing. Plugged it back up and hit the power button. Starts to boot up shows a black screen and turns off. Can’t even eject disc. I didn’t have a hard drive either. Or flash stick.

  8. I’m not sure if it’s worth rebuying. I know longer have MG2 in my possession anymore but I’ve already played it once and it’ll always be on the eshop so I’ll skip it for now.

  9. Ridley, the Angel of Death

I wish I saw this coming. I would have sold my Metroid Prime Trilogy game at Gamestop! If they tried to ask for me to return their money after this announcement, I would have said “I don’t do refunds.” lol

On a serious note, if games with online end up being sold on the eShop, will the online be able to work again? If so, looks like I’ll be buying The Last Story on the eShop when, and if, it ever gets announced. Maybe Pandora’s Tower will also be released which will in turn force Xseed to fix the god damn 11th/12th Tower glitch that they refused to fix because the game wasn’t worth fixing since it came during the time of the transition from Wii U to Wii.

  10. I never played the original wii version of this, only ever played super mario galaxy 1….is this game worth downloading and playing at half price? Or has this game lost its edge given its age now?
