As you may already know a select few have been given access to the Code Name STEAM demo and have given their impressions. One of the first sites on the scene is Destructoid who have nothing but glowing praise for the game developed by the acclaimed team over at Intelligent Systems. Here’s what they had to say.
When the demo was over, I was left wanting more. Intelligent Systems has nailed the fusion of an RTS with the action and excitement of a third-person shooter. The controls are silky smooth, and the animation and character designs are spectacular. Playing as some of the most well-known figures in American history is just the icing on top of this steam-filled cake

I am a strategy fan, I liked fire emblem before it was cool, and I’ve been a fan of intelligent systems since I first played one of their games, but they really dropped the ball with this game. Saying that the character designs are spectacular shows that whoever wrote this doesn’t know what the hell they’re talking about. When I first heard about intelligent systems “new game” I was excited but when I saw gameplay videos I immediately wished I hadn’t. The game looks like shit, plain and simple. The gameplay looks like it might be really good, similar to valkyria chronicles. Using the valkyria chronicles comparison doesn’t so this game any favors though. Put them side by side and this game looks like a 5 year olds drawing.
That’s just your opinion. I enjoy the stylization of the game.

The demo’s pretty fun so far, a lot more challenging than I figured it would be. Not unbearably so, just the right amount to keep you on your toes. The style fits the game well and there are actually collectibles and currency in the stages (gears and coins) that apparently factor into an upgrade/rank system. Excited to see how it plays out in the full game, and looking forward to trying multiplayer.

How superficial of you. You act as if it’s a movie, but even then I could only sympathize with regards to your dislike of the story. But to judge anything other than a picture or piece of furniture on looks? That’s as retarded as dismissing a game because of its looks and story.
If gameplay is not at the top of your list when considering a game, which the sole purpose is to play, then you’re in the wrong medium. Even the second point on a real gamers list is controls. But looks and especially story are at the very bottom, if at all on the list. But again, that’s for real gamers.

People are allowed to like a game for whatever reason whether it be the story or the controls. Gameplay is what matters the most to YOU. It doesn’t work the same for everyone else. Everyone has different preferences.
Fine. But just because people are entitled to their opinion, doesn’t me people are entitled to the label ofgamer. If he wants to waste money on something more expensive than movies yet movies are clearly what he really wants, then fine. I wish I knew what to call nongamers who don’t care about gaming. The game seems great but I can’t help but be turned off by the story and art style. We still have FE coming later this year (?) so I’ll stick with. You should never judge a book by its cover but this is just…I don’t even know. Splatoon was a great new IP but I’m not sure about this, I guess we’ll find out in a few months.

There is no ” nailing it”. Fusion of rts and first person always end up being frustrating, gameplay messes. The two styles simply don’t work together. It’s not like there have t been a boat load of attempts already….none of them being even close to functional.
Not buying it. Def don’t buy anything from these prof websites….how many times do they have to be caught red handed in the developers cookie jars before you all realize the entire profession is a fraudulent wracket?

If it was on the U I might give it a chance, but I’m absolutely done with the 3DS besides majoras mask due to the incredibly shitty controls of the 3ds and shape. Regular or XL. First system ever to give me arthritis. And only.
