It seems as though various retailers in the United States have taken too many pre-orders and are unable to fulfil demand when it comes to the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask New Nintendo 3DS console. Various Frys customers are reporting that their console pre-orders have been cancelled with the popularity of the product exceeding the company’s expectation.

It’s not their fault – Nintendo is notorious for not providing updates to how many units they have allocated, providing overinflated numbers, or just pulling out orders from retailers. Nintendo likes to keep the “value” of their products high so they artificially induce it. That’s wh Ocarina of Time 3D never went on sale and is now not being produced anymore, so Nintendo can point to the high prices that will eventually happen on ebay and go, “See? Look at how VALUABLE it is! That’s a Nintendo product!”

It also forces people to use the eshop and pay full price instead of buying a cheaper used copy, (was it ever cheaper used when not purchasing from somewhere like GameStop?) what a nicely effective business strategy that ganks the consumer.
They are probably canceling preorders from scalpers.
Just like Best Buy did too, right? No, they’re cancelling orders for regular customers as well.

Custom plates can only be put on the regular New 3DS, not the New 3DS XL. You could buy a regular New 3DS XL and put on your own custom stickers I suppose – or if you live outside of North America, you’ll be able to buy the regular New 3DS and get plates for it.

Yeah, I mean, I’m probably telling myself it’s better since I most likely won’t be able to get a limited edition, so this might be biased. Still, it might be a better option. I also heard that you could accidentally turn the New 3DS off if it’s in your pocket because of the button placement, and with a case, it wouldn’t happen–I don’t know. I’m probably being lame here. I might just even get a regular 3DS and praise the simplicity. Just one colour.

No, Nintendo gives them bad numbers, or retracts numbers after giving them the information. The reason Best Buy had to cancel so many legit pre-orders was because Nintendo took back 2000 pre-orders.
I swear. Sometimes I think the guys at Nintendo of America spend most of their time circle jerking each other off. We STILL don’t have a GOOD online Nintendo store in America.
