A high-res image of the Japanese box art for Xenoblade Chronicles X has appeared online. A large mech is the primary focus on the piece, which also displays several main characters from the forthcoming role-playing game. Serving as the spiritual successor to the original Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles X launches in Japan on April 29th. Release dates for North America or Europe have yet to be announced.

      1. There are spoilers for the first Xenoblade below, so stop reading comments if you’re playing it for the first time on the New 3DS

        1. Not sure if MNN already posted this but Xenoblade Chronicles Xrequires 22.7 GB to download! That’s fucking HUGE for a Wii U game!

  1. I hear that Xenoblade chronicles X is guaranteed to have 50% more X’s than the first one! lol jk I’m actually really excited about this one.

    1. That dark blue has to do w/ the Japanese ratings system, CERO.

Wii U games rated CERO C to CERO Z will have the dark blue or black gradient. It’s simply a redundancy ensuring the ratings are more easily noticed.

As far as I known the West has no such redundancy.

      1. Oh, same goes for the black box. Nintendo might release X in a black box for the West, but they wanted to protect its family image in Japan while still releasing more violent content there w/ out causing confusion.

Wii U was actually the 1st console there to release a CERO Z-rated game, or ‘Adults Only’ rated game. But Z was added to the Japanese ratings system in 2006. & the 1st game was only Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor,s Edge, so their views are different & Western games released in Japan have since received CERO Z ratings.

  2. Does anyone want a Rosalina Amiibo? (Inside US)

Looking to practically give it away. Really whatever your best offer is, i.e. a trade, cash, 1v1, whatever the hell you can think of, just offer it, I kinda want to get rid of it.

    Try me, please.

    1. Uh are you saying this solely based on what you’ve seen in Chuggaaconroy’s playthrough? ‘Cause anyone who’s played the game knows that *SPOILER*

Alvis revives Shulk almost immediately afterwards and Shulk eventually becomes a god.

  3. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Did they really have to put “United States” in the game?…

Can’t you just invent something? I hate real world garbage in games…

      1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

I hate the gaming world’s obsession with reality, same goes with movies…

Can’t they just come up with their own characters and countries etc etc instead of using reality?…

Same with movies, they used to come up with their own presidents like in Independence Day and Air Force One but now, they have to use Bush or Obama and other pathetic life-forms…

It’s boring and turns gaming into another hole of garbage…

        1. Just keep in mind that all of those real-life allusions are from an Earth that was quite literally blown to smithereens, and that New Los Angeles and that little “United States” logo are the last vestiges of Earth that even exist anymore, far as the game’s lore is concerned.

        2. Oh i find interesting what you said!!
So you prefer DC comics to Marvel comics!? (Dc invent their own countries and cities normally)
Its kinda interesting everyone that i know but myself (lol) prefer marvel because of the realism while i prefer dc because of the fantasy world they create!

          1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Well personally I find DC comics to be of a more serious nature than Marvel which goes better with my type of movies concerning superheroes even though they invent their own cities and so on…

Marvel is better in the sense that they include a larger variety of human types and don’t necessarily really much in realism when it comes to powers…

Although with Iron Man 3’s horrible plot and characters, I’ve taken it somewhat less seriously now and the new Spider-Man movies are worse than the original 3…

Further more, I wish they could stop making the overpowered villains so underpowered such as Ronon in GoTG…

          2. I prefer DC, too. But it’s mostly because of the realism & attention to the psychological side of humanity. The Vertigo imprint is a good example, as is the comic Watchmen, & human superhero Batman.

To me, Marvel is more hyperrealism. The art-style is typically bolder, & muscles & powers are extreme. Marvel allegories are splashy, larger than life; whereas DC allegories are more reductio ad absurdum, but more grounded.

But if I could choose to live in a DC universe or Marvel, I’d prolly choose Marvel because DC is comparatively much darker & full of inner demons (Wolverine vs. Batman; Sabertooth vs. Joker). As for reading, though, I prefer DC.

I still like Wolverine, but I can better relate to Batman. I grew up w/ both characters, but now feel Wolverine’s angst & superpowers are kinda silly. *snikt!* What was that? Did anyone here… Oh dear gods, no, I–

    1. The ship is one of several from what was essentially a future version of modern-day Earth.
Hence, the United States existed, too.
Just be thankful that it’s basically the only real reference to IRL aside from the name of the city.XD

      1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

There won’t be any future Earth nor the same countries in the future…

And a typical cliche referrence that makes the arrogant in the US believe that they will always survive and the typical asian worshipping of the US…

What’s the name of the city? I must have missed it…

        1. I’m not going to dignify that alluded racism with a direct response…
Instead, I’ll just say this; Earth is dead in the story, and humanity is keeping a couple of things around from it as a symbol of man-kind’s origins.
Planet Mira is a new start.
          That should be enough.

  4. Ridley, the Angel of Death

If this game truly has nothing to do with the original Xenoblade Chronicles, I really wish they had changed the name to something else once it neared release. *is still hoping that they reveal close to the end of the game, preferably the middle of the game, that they crashed on the planet Shulk & them are on from the end of the original game*

    1. Monolith Rpgs are AWESOME but generally sold poorly (baten kaitos saga…) on nintendo consoles till the original xenoblade for the wii they shipped a few to west and even thought it sold supergood so i think they are just using the samw name to atract old customers that wouldnt buy this game if it were called: Sephyrium tales of the end or some tipical japanese rpg name x)

      1. Well it’s still called Xenoblade like the Wii game. If your saying is true they should have called it Xeno-something else. But I guess since it still has the same gameplay mechanics, that could be why

          1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

If the game pulls a Fire Emblem & has a bladed weapon in the game like the eponymous Xenoblade (the Monado), I’ll be perfectly fine with them keeping the name.

        1. If X’s story is different than Chronicles yet still takes place in the same universe, then Xenoblade might be like Final Fantasy or ‘Tales of’; excluding direct sequels, of course. Or, if there is some character/story continuity, then Xenoblade might be like Castlevania, Fire Emblem, or Zelda.

Let’s hope Xenoblade becomes a successful franchise, w/ more than 2 installments, spanning multiple Ninty platforms.

          1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

As long as Xenoblade Chronicles X goes one of those two routes, I’ll be perfectly fine with them keeping the Xenoblade Chronicles name. In any case, it looks like Riki’s species will be Xenoblade Chronicles’ version of Final Fantasy’s moogle.

  5. This game and zelda u are gonna save the wii u,only worry i have i hope those two games dont have crashes like lego city undercover has, they are rare but annoying.

    1. Omg, enough with “saving” the Wii U already. The Wii U will sell around 20-25 million consoles, and theres not a game in the world that will change that.

  6. Please don’t change the box art for North America! Out of all the Wii U box art covers for games I’ve seen, this is one of the best! I think I’m going to need to put this game some place special when I get it lol

    1. Just put the disc, cover, & manual (if there is 1) in a black DVD case.

I used a golden DVD case for Twilight Princess Wii (looks awesome, especially w/ the golden disc art & nostalgia of golden cartridges). & that Wii case was used for Wii Sports, replacing its cardboard sleeve.

  7. Can’t help but notice how the boxart in Katakana reads Xenoblade Cross, indicating that the ‘X’ is pronounced ‘Cross’.

I wonder if the X will be pronounced as ‘Cross’ rather than the letter ‘X’ in the Western iterations.

  8. Xenoblade Chronicles Cross sounds to strange to me.

But this is some nice looking box art. If this was the only game I bought all year I would be satisfied.

If this game was an Xbox one exclusive, I would absolutely buy an Xbox for this one game.. Thats how good it is..
