We were all overjoyed to know that a batch of former Rare developers were hard at work developing their own spiritual successor to the classic Banjo Kazooie. We know that the team is called PlayTonic and you can follow their Twitter account here. PlayTonic have revealed that the 3D platformer will be coming to PC and also consoles. The team told EDGE magazine that “There’s been so much pent-up passion for doing something like this, because we’ve all been sat on a lot of these ideas since Banjo-Tooie came out,” We should get more information on the game soon, but for now be sure to check out the concept art.
Thanks, paidenthusiast

Xb1 and ps4?
Microsoft already owns Rare
And killed it to kill Nintendo’s dominance with Rare.
What he said. With almost all of Rare’s talents gone to start their own companies what good does Microsoft have with the company anyway? Sure they made a video and comments of them supposedly reviving their classic franchises again but without the original talents they just won’t feel the same. Even if Nintendo buying back Rare doesn’t mean the employees would come back, this does still give Nintendo the rights to develop all future entries. With their recent success with Kid Icarus Uprising, Fire Emblem Awakening, and potentially Star Fox U, they know how to reboot their franchises
Buying Rare back won’t do shit or bring back the old great magic Rare use to have. This I know ever well. Rare is dead and Microsoft is the one who killed them.
Well buying them back for only the IP’s would be great, but MS would never let that happen, they’d just put a Bungie and split with them, keeping the IPs.
Microsoft bout rare and destroyed the best gaming coming that ever was or will be
if you really think that, then you probably are kinda stuck in the 90ies. There are so amazingly many talented and great studios out there delivering great games. Sure, Rare was one of the very big ones and you could easily lose yourself in their worlds, but what you say sounds like someone whose girl ran away and he just can’t seem to move on, even after 15 years. There’s so much to play out there.
Wont come to Xbox. These are FORMER RARE DEVS. They LEFT Rareware and Microsoft cause of how Microsoft treated them. They hate Microsoft, they restricted all their creativity. They even made a jab at Microsoft in there comments. When they said “We obviously want to do things our way.” With Microsoft they would lose ALL control. So there is almost no chance it comes to Xbox One, frankly Xbox doesn’t deserve it. It will be PC for sure, and most likely Wii U and that’s it. And frankly that’s were it belongs.
They said “consoles” meaning it’s still possible it could come to X1 but i don’t see why it would deserve it
Deserve? Nah, I doubt they’d even want it.
of course they are looking into XB as well. Selling on XBLive doesn’t mean you are automatically an exclusive.
It’s not like Nintendo was so amazingly nice to Rare back in the days, if you remember why Rare made Bad Fur Day the way they did. As we still are talking business here, this whole emotional bullshit won’t affect their descicions in any way. If they see a broad audience on Nintendo consoles and think the WiiU’s technical capabilities and architecture would fit, they are gonna support it. Same goes for Sony and MS. They’re still multiplatform. If I were Nintendo I would just invest in them, but I wouldn’t even consider them accepting that offer.
Microsoft fuck the best gaming company up that ever was.
No xb1 and ps4 would be great then ps4 and xb1 owners will all say rare was never good and bk sucked! Lol retards
N64> xb1 ps4
You lost me there- friend. I am literally puzzled as to what you are trying to say. The only thing that I was able to decipher was that you use the word “retard” in a very derogatory way.
I’m saying everyone loves Banjo Kazooie everybody’s going to want the game on every platform but if it turns out that it’s not going to be on Xbox everyone who owns an Xbox who cant play is going to say that rareware was never good and Banjo Kazooie isn’t good.
You are already established as a troll. Nothing to see here…
Who wants to bet it’s just N RUNS IT with a different name?!
Or you or definitely Sasori in disguise. lol
fuck you stranga. :’D
Is it possibly coming to 3DS, or when they mean consoles, they mean Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One?
3DS is a handheld not a console. They probably can but they are putting a greater focus on systems that can handle their idea
I don’t mind it not coming to the 3DS, I was just wondering. I do hope the 3DS could get some 3D platformers one day.
I’m looking forward to this game so much, and I don’t even know much about it!
The 3DS is a console, but it’s called a “handheld console.” And obviously the consoles you can only play at home are called “home consoles.” Not sure why people get this wrong
Because of human cattle, period…
I think you will find that a 3DS is a handheld games console. You hold it in your hand. For someone writing on a Nintendo site, Mega179 I am surprised you stated such a comment.
Ok ok i feel stupid now, i phrased that poorly. Forget i just said that i can’t delete the comment
3DS is a dedicated console no matter how you see it. It’s console gaming on the go and yes it has the word “console” in its class so it counts. Can’t say the same for PSVita because no one knows WTF it is since there’s PSVita TV and PSNow so what’s the point of it existing now?
I really doubt it will be on the Xbox one. I know that Grant Kirkhope, the head musician of the Banjo Kazooie games, really doesn’t like Microsoft for what they did to a once thriving Rare. I assume his colleagues share a similar opinion.
Check out the Awesome Games Done Quick 2015 Banjo Kazooie speedrun. It should be on Yourube, somewhere. Kirkhope makes an appearance (around the Freezy Peaks and Mad Monster Mansion stages) and shares his thoughts on the Microsoft Rare buyout.
So PC is a given- but I wouldn’t be surprised if it appeared on the Wii U (and PS4).
I hope it doesn’t go to Microsoft because Rare Ware has the real bird and bear hidden in a loft.
Banjo Kazooie speed run? I never heard of that I hope it’s fun.
Yeah, the speedrun was pretty interesting. Lots of tricks and glitches. But it was just great that the composer for the game was able to Skype call the speed running group during the Banjo run.
@Banjoozie: Tooty says she’s fine with me. If you go home I’ll set her free.
I can’t believe he just mocked me. How on earth can this be?
Xbox one is so over due. Microsoft may as well turn it into glue.
Yet it’s 2nd place in consoles with lifetime sales in this generation.
2nd place is rather good though the software exculusives sells like a dud. Why don’t Xbox owners support Sunset drive instead of broken third party going bye bye.
Aren’t there like 3 BK spiritual successors being worked on right now? XD
In my honest opinion, a game can’t truly be considered a spiritual successor unless it’s being made by the people who worked on the original. This game is the only occurrence of that as far as I know.
I watch this picture just today and so over joyed I can’t think of much to say!
This game isn’t complete with out the rhyming it brings me back to my old childhood timing.
So what kind of animal will they use. I hope its not a bug that would be a snooze.
Or a mug that is filled with booze.
Mynintnedonews is full of facts. I’m glad on Sicr put this back.
I see my girl Gruntilda there. After nearly 12 years she looks like she lost some hair.
Nintendo commander I know he’s near. He’s probably ain’t posting until this game’s more clear.
Hear the crowd they boo and hiss. To see you fail they will not miss. Get this wrong for Grunty’s sakes and a lava bath you will take. I cannot wait to play this game. I already know it won’t be lame.
It looks like a rayman legends ripoff
Lol wut
Obviously blind…
It saddens me he can’t see. What a loser he must be.
Am I the
Am I the only here that thinks they look like Skylanders.
Off Topic-Nintendo’s first Smartphone app has been confirmed…
http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/13/8035959/nintendo-smartphone-app-mii
everyone all board the fucking hype train
Looks great, but then again, so did the Sonic Boom concept art.
No it didn’t, everything about that garbage was awful since the second it was revealed…
Yah, someone that played it at E3 warned that it was the worst Sonic game that he ever played, but some here were questioning if it was really worse than Sonic 06 and in November, we got our answer…
Nintendo commander so he’s here. I knew he would post as usual with no fear.
I hope to see this come to Wii U only. It looks promising and if it’s meant to bring back the good ol times of Banjo before Microsoft senselessly stole and killed them with Rare, then I’m in for it. :)
I too hope its for Wii U only. Coming to other consoles just seems phoney.
Exactly. I’m sure it’ll do just fine on Wii U just like Shovel Knight and Shantae 3.
I love the picture of the overworld. Looks so bright and colorful!
Not sure about the characters though…
I agree the picture looks so bright. Makes me want to hug this with all my might.
I kinda like those two funky looking creatures.
Interesting character artwork. I’m looking forward to this game.
How can I hook up my N64 to my TV. I hook it up but the TV doesn’t recognize it.
Looks like your average try-hard quirky-by-numbers indie game so far. Nothing Banjo about it.
I’m gonna have to agree with you on this. Compared to the bear and bird, these character designs are terrible; the big reason being that there’s no contrast between the two protagonists. Banjo was a big, bulky, goofy bear and Kazooie was a thin, peckish bird.
Now we have… two lizards? With the same core body type? (not counting limbs) And they look like Klasky-Csupo rejects from a 90s-era Nickelodeon cartoon?
C’mon, Playtonic. You can do better than this.
I’m looking forward to this game. Hopefully more info will be discussed at E3 or something
