This week’s charts are now in from Japan courtesy of Media Create. There were a few notable releases this week including Mario Party 10 which made its debut in fifth place. The best-seller this week was Yakuza 0 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 which took the top spot. On the hardware side of things it was the PlayStation 4 which was the best-seller followed by the Nintendo 3DS. Here’s the best-selling software and hardware in Japan this week.

Not really. At this point, most Japanese people own a 3DS of some kind, but the numbers are still decent after this fact and Sony are doing well in Japan as well. It’s Microsoft that’s irrelevant in Japan, but that’s because they’re not a Japanese company, while the other 2 are Japanese companies. Plus Nintendo and Sony have handhelds out, while Microsoft doesn’t. That hurts Microsoft as well, considering Japan is mainly a Handheld/Smartphone nation, where consoles are less popular, but still popular enough to warrant selling consoles there…
No, it’s because Xbox sucks ass and only publish games that appeal to westerners and wont bother licensing Japanese games. They think everyone wants their shit FPS.

Need some localizations! Digimon Cyber Sleuth needs to be localized along with Yakuza 0. I doubt SEGA will budge so I hope SCE steps up again and localizes it like they are doing Yakuza 5. As for Digimon, Namco Bandai is getting better with localizations but they are still leaving out a lot of requested games – including the newer Digimon games.
Getting Mario Party 10 Friday at least!
Everything on the Hardware list, either went up slightly, or went down slightly. Nothing really of note when you look at it that way. Only the New 3DS LL saw more than a slight change, in this case a drop. So the games only helped the Playstation consoles stay near where they were and Mario Party 10 didn’t really help Wii U at alll. Overall, decent for Nintendo and Sony, but not for Microsoft, but there’s nothing new there then…

Wii U’s got a massive problem. Not great sales for Mario Party 10. It’ll slip right down next week and it’s the only Wii U game in the chart. Wii U sales are down for the week, so no bump from MP 10. PS4 continues to pull further away and worst of all the PS3 outsold the Wii U. Truly embarrassing and sad.
