Shopping Centre Boasts Splatoon Themed Fountain To Celebrate Release

The Splatoon craze is spreading like wildfire in all sorts of forms, as this Twitter user found at Eaton Shopping Centre in Toronto. In the middle of their centre is a wonderful, huge fountain that’s been revamped in honour of Splatoon. An Inkling and a Squid sit on the fountain and the water– I mean, the ink!– has been dyed green. This is just another example of the intense, creative advertising that has gone into this game, let’s hope it lives up to expectations tomorrow!

      1. “The Splatoon craze is spreading like wildfire…”

That quote suggests the blogger thinks otherwise. Not much intelligence ’round here.

  1. Nintendo are really putting all of their eggs for the next couple of months in Splatoon, aren’t they???

  2. They’re marketing the crap out of this game. Yesterday it was Splatoon yogurt, today a fountain get a Splatoon makeover.

  3. It’s awesome that the Inklings are getting such a public relations blitz as they make their debut– Smash and Mario Kart DLC can’t be far behind!

I only kind of wish that there was a specific CHARACTER that they could be featuring in this, not just the race of Inklings themselves. But, eh, in a world with Yoshies and Toads and Villagers, it’s not like there’s no precedent for blurring the line between individual and race.

    1. They’ve been plastering that “red head” and blue “haired” boy on a majority of the marketibg, so I guess they’re the mascots

  4. Nintendo sure does have interesting ways of advertising!
Would still love them to do TV ads properly. It’s rare to see any ads if you don’t go on kids channels whereas I see ps/xboxone/pc/mobile game ads multiple times a week.

    1. Europe is pretty much anti-Nintendo, from a sales perspective. With a new IP like this, they probably knew no one would bother at full price. Europe is always being pampered in ways like that, because they keep trying to give them reasons to buy their stuff.

Come the next yearly release of Fifa though, Europe will go nuts! They sure do love their EA rehashes.

    2. Because it won’t sell well in Europe. Hell, there are more Wii U’s in Japan than in all of Europe combined. That’s just sad really. Europe hates the Wii U.

So that’s why it’s cheaper there. To encourage new buyers..
