Harvest Moon fans should be rather pleased today as Natsume has announced a new entry in the series which is titled Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. The latest game is heading to a number of platforms; Wii U, PC, iOS, and Android. Hopefully we should get a gameplay trailer or screenshots soon.
PR: Natsume Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, today reveals the next title in the long-running Harvest Moon series, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. This is the first Harvest Moon that will be on the Nintendo Wii U, as well as the first Harvest Moon ever on the PC. In addition, the title will also be the first mainline Harvest Moon title on both iOS and Android.
“From the farm to the town, we wanted Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories to evoke the feeling of a classic Harvest Moon game with modern twists!” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume Inc. “We’re also excited to finally bring the Harvest Moon series to the Nintendo Wii U, PC, and mobile platforms, where fans have definitely told us they want to see the series.”
Go back to the roots of Harvest Moon in the latest installment of the series! Inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will bring players a sense of nostalgia, along with exciting gameplay twists.
Tasked with the job of revitalizing a farm, players will need to befriend the villagers in town to unlock the titular “Seeds of Memories”! Seeds can be unlocked in many ways, such as giving a villager their favorite item, catching a giant fish, or by raising their first cow. Players will need to be up to the challenge of collecting all of the Seeds of Memories!
Old favorites return in the animal department with cows, sheep, and chickens, along with a horse to ride, and a dog to keep as a pet! Farmers will also have a new pet to take care of, but it isn’t what they’d expect… It’s a bobcat! The bobcat starts out wild, but as players befriend the animal, can they convince the bobcat to become their loyal friend?
Featuring cooking, fishing, foraging, and mining, players will need to upgrade their tools to find the highest-quality items. Players will also be able to participate in contests and festivals like the Cooking Contest and Starry Night Festival! Woo one of the ten marriage candidates – 5 bachelors and 5 bachelorettes – and find that special someone to make their farming life complete!
Look for Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories to blossom on Wii U, Steam, iOS, and Android this winter! There will be an early look at the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) June 16th-18th in Los Angeles (South Hall, booth 615).

A new beginning is good
Wait, Story of Seasons isn’t good?
Story of seasons plays exactly like a new beginning and I’m playing it as we speak. The renting field mechanic fades away after your first in game year, since you either win all the challenges easy or simply renew your field license on time that you never have to compete for them. The characters are nothing special although I gave up on dating a few HMs ago. My biggest irritation with Story of Seasons is that: one, your main field is small and hard to manage and that all the other fields are pretty far away, two, villagers are boring, three, your farm house can’t be moved and neither can any of the town houses/facilities so there isn’t a lot of customization. and four stores no longer sell an infinitive number of items. The general store only sells 12 fertilizers a day, yet I have over 100 plots of land. You can get more by doing quests or making some with twigs or weeds, but you’ll only find 4 of those per day. Other then that everything is your usual HM style game: plant, farm, take care of animals, forage, try to get everything done before 2am, sleep, repeat.

XSEED never did a Harvest moon they are just a publisher. They were made my Marvelous. Dumbass.
XSeed is the American subsidiary of Marvelous, who creates the real Harvest Moon games. It’s just like how Nintendo of America is the American subsidiary of Nintendo; which are used interchangeably. And so basically, if you want the real Harvest Moon game, you get the one that XSeed puts out. And really, was it necessary to insult anyone over this?
And so this game might be good, but it’s only a Harvest Moon-style game that’s called Harvest Moon, and not part of the proper series of Harvest Moon games. I hope it’s good, as I’ll buy it if it gets good reviews. But I’m not getting my hopes up.
Natsume isn’t the publisher, they’re the dev. both Marvelous & Natsume develop HM games & you can tell as they’re styles are a little different.
If it’s not made by Marvelous, then it’s not a real Harvest Moon, unfortunately. Only PUBLISHED by Natsume. Guess it depends on how you look at it…

I agree with Sarah. They’re no longer partnered so it’s not really an authentic HM game, just copyrights of the title. The lost valley was the first game done without xseed and it ended up being very minecraft-like. Curious to see this gameplay but no high hopes.
What are you talking about? XSEED has nothing to do with the development of the games they publish, they only localize.

finally harvest moon coming to the wii u you I’m truly happy , I love harvest moon for so long but and I love the idea getting married and having the kids the most but sometimes I getting bored (sorry) because I want a big new story after the marriage or something really new I wish this harvest moon it will be very different, having new things. a lot of thanks for the good news .

Was stoked until I saw this is made by Natsume and not Xseed. After Hometown Story I can ensure you I won’t buy another game from them. I’m still finishing up Story of Seasons, so I’m good for a while. I’m hoping Nintendo announces Animal Crossing Wii U at e3.

I hope this game is good. I absolutely hated a new beginning.
It’s weird. The Harvest Moon series seems like something that would be right up my alley, since I love Animal Crossing so much. But when I tried playing ‘A Wonderful Life’ (my first Harvest game), I just wasn’t able to get into it. So I didn’t get very far in the game before I stopped playing and never returned. I’ve got several Harvest Moon games now, and I’ve never played any of them.
Ah, I love A Wonderful life. Maybe if you can’t get into the game itself right now, then you could try playing the others first. I’m an avid Harvest Moon player, so maybe I could suggest which one you should start on if you told me the ones that you have. AWL is incredibly different from other HM games anyway.
Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town was probably the best HM there was. You should try that.
The main things I’m hoping for is that the focus is on farming and ranching first, with having a social life and doing missions as side issues that aren’t required to grow your farm. And then they need to do more to make economics more complicated, since all the games I’ve played have it where you just needed to figure out which single crop made the most profit each season and keep growing that over and over.
Instead, it should be that prices fluctuate from year to year and even throughout the season, so that some years will see a surplus of certain crops that drop the prices while other years have a shortage that raises the prices. And I should be punished for glutting the market with a single crop, rather than rewarded no matter how many I sell. As it is, these games are just too easy for me and I get bored too quickly. That’s how farming and ranching works in real life, and it’d make the game have more variety.
My daughter just got the Story of Seasons on the 3DS, but I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet to see if it’s any good. But I don’t care much for handheld games, so I’m hoping for a good one on the Wii U.
