Axiom Verge Will ‘Probably’ Come To Wii U In 2016

It looks like a Wii U version of Axiom Verge is on the way. According to developer Tom Happ, the Metroid-inspired side-scroller will ‘probably’ see release on Wii U in 2016. A Nintendo 3DS port is less than likely, however, due to the ‘completely different’ nature of the hardware. Axiom Verge also takes inspiration from other such classics as Rygar, Contra, Bionic Commando and Blaster Master.

“…can’t commit to anything, but Axiom Verge will *probably* be available for Wii U in 2016,” Happ said. “3DS is quite a bit more difficult since the hardware is so completely different. Should Nintendo be reading this and decide to lend me a hand, that’d be VERY appreciated!!”

        1. You’re one to talk. Always talking about how the Wii U only deserves good games, and yet when a good game is announced for it, you don’t want it? This is called GOOD news, you’re the one rejecting it and calling a person’s pride and joy useless.

Why am I trying to figure you out. You role-play as some space commander on a Nintendo site, on every single article.

              1. Sure that’s fine, anything that old must have issue’s and hiccups. Its only natural for computers.

                : )

                        1. You bash Federation Force for tarnishing Metroid again and the next minute you’re indirectly defending that shit when someone has a LEGIT negative opinion towards it. Make up for your goddamn mind and stop acting like a dumb fanboy doing/saying shit without realizing it.

                            1. And you just had a problem with someone wanting that “Super Metroid” inspired indie game over Federation Force. Back to your old hypocrite self. That indie game is twice the Metroid game that chibi POS minigame. Hell, I rather play fucking Other M now over that shit.

                                1. I would rather buy that “Metroid clone” over a “Metroid/Prime” pretender that’s clearly NOTHING LIKE METROID. Got a problem with me wanting that “clone” now? Because it seems Metroid is fucked like Banjo, Sonic and even Megaman which got redeemed and spiritually reborn in different but familiar form. Now it’s Samus’s turn.

                                        1. I like you dude but you’re seriously getting ridiculous over this. Either you support true Metroid support (even if it’s an indie clone of Metroid which respects its atmosphere) or you don’t.

                                            >>>And it’s funny how you say I’m ridiculous when you and several other imbeciles can’t even comprehend that I don’t like Metroid rip-offs>>>

                                            1. And yet you make that sound like it’s worse than Federation Force. It may be a rip-off to you but it’s clearly not when it’s only looking familiar but it’s not entirely the same. What’s next? Freedom Planet is a ripoff of Sonic? Bloodstained from Castlevania or Yoola from Banjo?

                                                >>>In other words, Playstation Allstars is not a rip-off to you either, you can’t have it both ways>>>

                                                1. Oh no. That one is a ripoff because Sony is infamous for copycatting Nintendo. Talking Vita Pets from Nintendogs, PSMove from Wii Remote. Sometimes Sony doesn’t even try to make it different. Like that Battle Royal, all Sony did was remove the boundary kill zones where players get knocked off too and turn the primary game into Smash’s Stamina mode with Sony’s flagship franchises. That’s it. Not even trying to be slightly unique from Smash at all. Indies are a different story. They honor the tried-and-true old school style of gaming and even drew inspiration from major past titles like Metroid which inspired Megaman and Castlevania (speaking of which, you’re gonna call Megaman a Metroid ripoff next?)

                                                  1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

                                                    >>>Megaman came early when Metroid wasn’t legendary yet so no>>>

                                                    1. And for someone who WORSHIPS Metroid, now you just called it “not legendary” in its time? It was one of Nintendo’s origin franchises that help build the company up in video games. Don’t start that shit bro.

                                                        >>>And you sure have a “nice” way of showing that you “like” me calling me a hypocrite, fanboy, moron and whatever other useless words you use>>>

                                                      3. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I hate to get involved but Stranga does have a point. Least some of those games he mentioned are respecting the franchises they are inspired by. It’s not really a rip off if the clone game respects the game it’s a clone of while also doing something new & different from the original. Like Freedom Planet. It’s definitely a clone of the old school Sonic games but unlike those games, you have more than just the obvious Sonic clone to control, so you aren’t just speeding through the levels like a bat out of hell.

                                              2. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

                                        2. It may be a Metroid clone, but it is a well done one. I tried it on my pc and it’s really fun! If this game came out on Wii U I would buy it immediately.
Obviously is the ORIGINAL Metroid better, but if we don’t get any good Metroid games we have to play something similar, don’t you think?

                                        3. Reality is Dolphin Revolutionized Cafe NX

Well atleast it plays like Metroid, unlike Federation crap. Out of desperation anything Metroid, i might give this clone a chance.

Although a real new 2D Metroid would be a nice. Sadly Nintendo refuses because the series has to appeal to Japanese players now who never in the first place gave a chance to the series, its apparent what Federation crap is trying with its chibi design, MH clone missions and such, they are destroying the series in favor of Japanese players. Because people from west arent apparently fans of Nintendo important enough to deliver amazing real Metroid.

                                            >>>The year isn’t over yet though and we don’t know what they could announce in a ND in the near future, I’ll be happy for any Metroid whether it’s the 3DS or Wii U>>>

                                            1. Reality is Dolphin Revolutionized Cafe NX

I agree, while im not fan of small screens, i would buy new 2D Metroid game for 3DS day1 and play the crap out of it everywhere!

Somekinda dual release would be cool for handheld and console, handheld version would be 2D and homeconsole version would be 3D Prime (real Prime that is). They would be different games with different plots kinda like Fusion and Prime1 were, but you could transfer some of the items/abilities between the versions that wouldnt be found by other means. It would entice people play both versions.

If someone like Iga can create a new Igavania, then im sure Nintendo if they want to can create a new Metroidvania.

                                          2. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Yeah. When it comes to Metroid, we aren’t important anymore. They made Other M Japan friendly & are continuing with Federation Force. It looks like Nintendo probably won’t be ignoring/retconning the events of Other M any time soon.

                                        1. The way I see it “I’ll probably make a Wii U version”=”lazy ass port”
Either you have worked on the wii u and you have something to offer, or you just wanna release as wide as possible for quick cash. I don’t trust such words as probably…

                                          1. I agree completely.

I was going to say, “wouldn’t it make you feel better if I told you I “probably” cared? ! :D”. But that would have been uber rude of mii.

                                            1. It just bugs me that this word is used in an official announcement, as if it makes little difference to the developer whether the wii u gets this game or not.

                                                1. –Ding!–
                                                  –Congratulations, Viralplume was caught!–
–Vileplume has the world’s largest petals. They are used to attract prey that are then doused with toxic spores. Once the prey are immobilized, this Pokémon catches and devours them. —
                                                  –So be careful…–

                                            1. If that’s what he mean to say, the correct way to say it was “Will be available for Wii U probably in 2016”, and not “It will probably be available for Wii U…”

                                      2. I just had the most terrifying dream I have ever had. Sorry, I know this is not the place, but I just have to write this down, and this is really the only forum I am on right now…

It was a really short terror dream. I was standing with this guy outside of a building dowtown. It was like a back ally, but it wasnt scary looking. There were business people walking by. I remember we were talking about how messed up the police system was. How they could not respond in time to accidents, and if someone got mugged right now nobody would be there to protect the guy getting mugged. We were really disgusted by this for some reason. Then a third guy, looked pretty normal, like a business man in a business suit, jumped into our conversation from a distance. We eagerly walked over to him and shook his hand. The man we just met agreed with us about the problem and began telling us a story. The story was about something to do with a guy in a bathroom. I cannot remember for the life of me the actual story he was telling. But I remember he came to the end of the story, where he was about to tell us the end and what happened to the guy in the bathroom. At this point we all three were kneeled down in a corner, and I was about two feet away from the guy telling his story.. I will never forget what happened next…

I asked the man, ” so what happened to the guy?” For some reason I was really curious about the ending of this story, I was very intrigued. The man, seemed to have grown long hair and now looked like a woman, smiled at me and turned away. I was really confused in my dream for about two or three seconds as to why he would turn away. Remember, we are kneeled down in a corner, and i’m about one maybe two feet away from this guy that just turned into a woman for a brief second… When he/she turned back around “it” was right in my face. But it was no longer a person. It was…. I dont know. It did not have a mouth, or eyes, or a nose. It was like staring into hell itself. It got right into my face, about one inch away, and immediately began screaming… Like a demon voice scream or worse even. It let out a scream, so terrifying I cannot go back to sleep. I could feel the breath from the scream, I could feel the hot air run down my neck… It made every hair on my body stand up. I was frozen. It screamed for what seemed like forever. I was petrified. My friend died at the mere sight of this…. Thing.. He died from terror. I will never forget that scream, or that empty face. It was nothing like I have ever heard in any horror movie. Or anywhere else for that matter… The face of this thing scared me so bad… It was like staring into oblivion…

Im sorry for telling you all this… I had to.

                                        Good night.

                                        2. Dude, you should talk to someone that knows about dreams or also dreams a lot. If you’re not trollaloling then you need to talk that out.

                                        3. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I was hoping for a punchline that revealed this was a dream reflecting how the Nintendo Digital Event for E3 2015 made you feel so I laughed at certain points. Now I’m all “O.O Oh my god!” Reminds me of a dream from when I was real little.
