There’s lot of female gamers in Japan, but some don’t have the time to game or are not so interested in what is on offer. Nintendo is looking to change this by introducing an event called the “Nintendo Girls Game Museum” which takes place later this month and into August. The aim is to showcase games that the company thinks will capture their attention. Nintendo will allow members of the public to sample games that are already a hit with female gamers. As well as showing off video games that they think will appeal to females, there will also be a large range of merchandise for sale including Animal Crossing themed items. The company will also hold a demonstration for the upcoming Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer which is sure to be a big hit. The event will be free to attend. Here’s the games that will be playable at the event.

- Style Savvy 3 (3DS)
- Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition (3DS)

Big businesses don’t like it that way. Why? Because they like to market things specifically to a certain group. And that’s exactly what this is. It’s the reason Teen Titans was cancelled. Too many girls were watching it and “YOU CAN’T MERCHANDISE TO GIRLS” which is why you’ll never see, like, Raven, Starfire, Black Widow, or all the other badass female heroes in any toy pack.

Last time I checked, her games aren’t really popular over there. The sales for any Platinum Games title is normally better in the West than in Japan because they appeal more to us.

Japanese society is still very sexist on its roots, so this selection of games for “girl gamers” doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m pretty sure that this list is based on research and built upon games that are more popular with females than male players (and of course, crappy games aimed to females) , but it’s a huge missed opportunity to introduce new genres and offer more options. Splatoon would be a great game, as many people already mentioned, but they probably skipped it just because it’s an action game. This retrograde way of thinking that girls will only play casual puzzle games is laughable, and if companies keep pushing that to everyone’s throats it won’t change.
Oh please, the US does this, too.
But mostly with television and merchandising those.
It’s the reason shows like Teen Titans GO!, TMNT(The only good one on this list of merchandized shows), Uncle Grandpa, and Rabbids exist.
It’s also the reason Teen Titans was cancelled (too big of a female audience) and Steven Universe was almost cancelled (too big of a female audience)

It’s painfully obvious why Rhythm Heaven and Style Savvy are there, because of the fact these are new games to be promoted. I always get that impression when there’s not a single Mario title in sight (Or people are just flat out tired of his games).
Here’s the truth. There would be nothing wrong with targeting an event or game towards a specific gender if humans universally respected each other.
Unfortunately, the female gender has been treated poorly for over centuries, and gays even worse.
So to balance the equation, people rage about being sexist and demanding equality.
If everyone respected each other, and it had been that way a very long time, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Nintendo isn’t trying to be sexist, but they should realize this is 2015, genders have been badly abused, and…IDK. Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. Lol.
