Rumour: GameStop Is Apparently Not Taking Pre-orders For September Amiibo

Reddit amiibo moderator FlapSnapple is reporting that the various amiibo that are due to go on sale on September 11th at GameStop won’t be available for pre-order this time around. If this proves to be true (and FlapSnapple has a decent track record) then it is no doubt going to be a pain for amiibo collectors. The four amiibo that are apparently set to go on sale on September 11th are Ganondorf, Olimar, Zero Suit Samus and 8-Bit Classic Mario.

  • There will be no preorders
  • A limited amount will be available on GameStop.com
  • Allocation sent to each store based on previous amiibo sales (This is the same thing they said about the Retro 3-Pack)
  • amiibo would be sold on a first come / first serve basis (as usual)
  • No word yet on if they will do tickets like they did for the Retro 3-Pack

  1. If it’s store allocated like the retro 3-pack, i don’t see a problem then. I mean…there were 63 retro packs at my store, 90 in others. So I expect at least 25-35 of each if the numbers Target had holds truth.

Nintendo seemingly has it under control so now we have to see just how much they actually do.

  2. GameStop Nordic and Ireland are taking preorders for these, they’ve even been “in their systems” since E3 announcement, went up for reservable finally a few days ago.

  3. Nothing new really. They haven’t been taking preorders on the last 2 or 3 waves of amiibo (aside from the recent 3-pack. Which I proudly preordered two of).
