One of the big titles to arrive on the Nintendo 3DS soon in Japan is Capcom’s spin-off title Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village DX. As you would expect from such a cute game the opening movie is absolutely adorable featuring a number of iconic critters that you will be familiar with if you have played a Monster Hunter game. Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village DX launches in Japan on September 10th exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.

There have been numerous Spin offs of Monster hunter before, all very cutesy to try to appeal to those not interested in the overall concept of monster hunter, but interested in the characters, a heavily female demographic in Japan. Guess what? Those titles have been fairly close in sales and popularity to that of the regular franchise in Japan. This is a far more expansive game then those previous cutesy spin offs and covers monsters in an art style much more similar to the main series than the other cutesy spin offs.
Looking at your clear homophobia though, it’s clear you won’t be touching this game with a 10 foot pole, let alone a 100 foot pole.
Well shit. I screwed up. The characters from MH Stories screwed me up, and I thought it was the opening for MH Stories. So this probably won’t be more expansive than the other cutesy games, but’ll still probably do well, as all MH games do.
Yeah I’m personally looking forward to getting this game if it gets localized and MHStories too. This isn’t like SMTxFE where the spinoff is literally something nobody wanted while the main series (talking about FE I dunno about SMT) is going down the drain.

You know, I’ve been a huge fan of MH for a long time now but even I think it needs a new twist and most of all more home console releases. I see that it has quite some appeal to mobile gamers but that leaves us home consoleros in the dust. I’d really like to see a true HD release with an open world gameplay like in Tri and 3 Ultimate (free hunt) but with wider areas (maybe Skyrim like) where you can visit different biomes, cities that offer different quests, equipment etc. A story would be nice too. So maybe if those new storydriven games will be successful we’ll get a new MH concept. So give them a chance (although that particular style isn’t appealing to me, either).
