Japanese publication Tokyo Keizai Online has revealed just how much Japanese companies have spent on advertising during the last fiscal year. Sony was number one as it had spent 444.4 billion yen on advertising which is around 5.4% of its total revenue. This wasn’t just the PlayStation division, but Sony as a whole. Nintendo was the only video game company to make the top fifty and was ranked at number 20 as the company had spent with 54.8 billion yen on advertising. This was around 10% of the company’s total revenue. Nintendo was one of two companies in the top fifty to spend 10% of total revenue on advertising. The average amount of money spent on advertising in Japan is 3.5% of income.
