There have been a number of interesting theories discussed over the years regarding the iconic Super Mario Bros 3. One of the more compelling ones is that it was all just a play with its curtains and hanging blocks. Some thought that this was people reading too deep into Shigeru Minamoto’s creation. However, Mr. Miyamoto has confirmed today via Twitter that Super Mario Bros 3 was indeed based on a play.

Like it matters.
You could say that was… WELL PLAYED!
It’s not about whether it “matters” or not.
This was pretty much confirmed by Miyamoto himself in other occasions. Going as far as to say this is the reason why Mario and Bowser are able to compete in Karts, Tennis and Parties among other things.
It’s nice to see a rotund YES from him anyway.
Didn’t we all know this anyway?
That he is Bowser Jr’s mom? No.
Maybe Super Mario Bros. 3 is a stage performance and retelling of Mario’s great Adventure that happened in Super Mario Bros. 1? Maybe it sold out shows across the Mushroom kingdom? Maybe Bowser is just some guy in a suit in SMB3? So many theories.
Lots of random info dropping going on. I wonder what’s goin on.
Promoting the 30 years of Mario, and Mario Maker releasing.
Everyone watch the ‘Unwatchable’ movie! Oops, posted on the wrong site XD little b00 b00 like you clowns aren’t old enough yet XDDDD

“Alright back up every body, back up! Gotta bust out the caution troll crossing tape! Mark off the area the really terrible troll is located, nothing to see, nothing to see, move along now yah hear.”
*picks up soda bottle and swooshes it into a local recycling receptical*
For some reason, this makes me sad.
To be honest, I never actually thought of Super Mario Bros. 3 until now! I’m not really upset about this game being based on a play!
But that’s not the point of it. It shows off some really neat changes to the table. Remember, it’s not about the graphics or story but how immersive the gameplay feels that pulls you into their world and feel like you’re a part of it.
that shouldn’t stop anybody from playing the game.
Didn’t Miyamoto also say that the entire Mario cast are considered “actors”?
yes, that’s why they’re enemies in the main series, but are always racing, playing tennis together
Lol that’s funny I never really payed attention to that. It’s crazy tho. “it never happened” mind blowing statement there lol my childhood has been a lie!!
So Mario Bros. 2 is a dream and 3 is a play. Then what is World? lol
Let’s pray Super Mario World isn’t a figment of some lizard’s, named Yoshi, imagination.
Wasn’t this obvious? I figured this out back when All-Stars came out (my first time playing it) when I was 4.
I don’t know why, but for some reason I never realized or thought about this. Man, it takes all the purpose away from the game now. I hate when games aren’t real (you know what I mean). Just like I hate movies that are all just a dream, like The Wizard Of Oz etc.
Never knew it. Man!
Wow! Never knew that!
Oh my goodness! Impressive article dude! Thank you so much, However I am going through
issues with your RSS. I don’t know thee reason why I am

‘BOOM!’ That was the sound of my mind being blown. All this time I never questioned why some things looked like they were being held up like props.
