Japan: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Has Sold A Million Units In Less Than 2 Months

You may have seen the Japanese hardware and software charts for this week, and if you haven’t, you can view them here. One of the big pieces of news this week is the fact that the Animal Crossing spin-off Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer has sold over one million units after going on sale for less than two months. This is a pretty big achievement and it will be interesting to see how the game fares when it is released in the west shortly.

      1. That seems to make a lot of sense. Considering Happy Home Designer, is a Spin Off of New Leaf. Thanks for the info.

  1. Buying 2 copies, for me & my wife. No wonder its sold so much! You play with friends but each own a copy.

    1. I’m not either, but unlike you, I’m not going to call the game ‘Meh’ if I’ve no played it.

  2. Just love Animal Crossing, but this particular game seems too much “party-ey” for my taste.

Indeed, party games have been dominating Nintendo’s pipeline. That’s sad.

      1. Right, I think I misused the term “party”. But this is still a very simple, casual game with multiplayer mode in which you can invite other players to visit your home and such. This is appealing to a number of people, but not for me.

I wish Nintendo offered a wider array of games.

  3. I’ll be getting a copy for my girlfriend, as well as some amiibo cards (our first amiibo, yay).
May also be tempted to get it if it has good multiplayer, but I can’t say I’m that interested. New Leaf burned me out.

          1. >>>I don’t have amnesia and I have my theories on who it might be, based on “Real Realm” events that happened some time ago>>>

              1. >>>My influence on you is even noted at your current name, how easy it is to brainwash you humans>>>

                    1. >>>You are this PC Agent Narud? I should have known, specially since you often disguise yourself as me and others from time to time>>>

    1. Quitting at the good part? The fun is just beginning. They all will fall. I’ve always said that, and my friend, we will see the day.

  4. Yay I can’t wait to play it with my sister whos in collage right now we’re gonna send pictures of finished designs and stuff :D also i bet miiverse will be a big part of happy home to share cute houses and schools and projects and stuff.

    1. Not only that, but you can upload them directly to internet sites! I’ve been playing the Japanese version for 2 months now, and it’s outstanding! You can even visit other’s designs and rate them! Contest starts October 1 (assuming it’s Japan-only), but it could be for everyone.

  5. Three of those are from me!! I have 2 digital, and 1 physical copy of the Japanese version, and 2 pre-bought for the NA version, so 5 of HHD’s copies come from me! It’s not like I’m obsessive or anything, I only own 4 copies of New Leaf!! :P
