The Nintendo Badge Arcade arrived to the Nintendo 3DS eShop last week, and the title has been receiving some frequent updates adding new themed badges each time.
So far, new sets have been added including Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Maker badges, and the latest set to arrive to the game is a collection of Pokémon badges.
The Pokémon badges, that will be available until November 23rd, include Jolteon, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Lucario, and many more. You can see the image attached to Nintendo’s Tweet below for the full collection:

Which badges would you like to see next?

Nintendo is ass lol
I missed chance to use gym badge’s
This nothing bit a quick fucking cash grab. Bitches..
This is nothing BUT a quick feakin’ cash grab. Beaches…
Do mark me
Say whatever you will about the game, doesn’t change the fact that it’s more addictive than crack. I’m patiently waiting for the Metroid pins to appear.
Knowing Nintendo, it will be just one set of NES Metroid sprites.
You’re absolutely right. And Nintendo is shamelessly selling this crack to not just working adults, but kids who will no doubt end up nagging their parents to no end.
Eh. Parental control exists for a reason, and it renders this game completely useless since you need to be connected to the internet to boot it.
Since when does Nintendo give a shit about parental controls? They decide they don’t need to baby sit kids when it’s in their favor? If Nintendo had a shred of decency, they would let people who love the game buy a season pass or buy the game outright for $30-40.
If Nintendo had any faith in it’s parental controls, we’d still have letterbox anf swapnote. They knew exactly what they were doing sending that damn bunny into people’s homes.
I acknowledge it’s fiendishly clever, but I kinda thought they were above that.
I’m just saying the option is totally there, and in this case it blocks any potential misuse effectively.
A season pass would ruin the point of the game, though. It’s a virtual arcade. If you change it into a badge bouffet, it stops being a game and it becomes a virtual store. At least with the current design there’s a certain degree of skill and luck involved.
About them being better, as I said, this kind of games have a public. I don’t see it as an inherent evil, just as a more casual type of game aimed to more casual players. I personally use it along with Pokémon Shuffle after playing a retail game for long before I switch to another activity or game. As long as they’re not deceiving anyone and people get what they want, where’s the harm?
Is it convenient for Nintendo? Obviously yes, it’s not even a question. Does it work? You bet.
Ok. The Rabbit said, Nintendo charges real money because developing badges cost money.
If that’s the story Nintendo is going with, then why the fuck limit how long badges are available?
I think we all know the answer.
Nintendo isn’t just taking advantage of one of it’s hottest IP’s (Spare me the 1st, 2nd, 3rd party arguments) – and artificially creating product scarcity to make people feel like they must spend real money if they want to “catch’em all.” Instead of letting people play leisurely using free plays.
This is a disgusting use of micro transactions and manipulation. It’s straight-up shady. This is exactly what I knew would happen. Nintendo is so far in bed with microtransactions, the two are fucking like…rabbits.
If they deliberately create limited supply of an unlimited product, you know damn well the Amiibo inventory issues were deliberate as well.
If I was a parent, this would make me start to question Nintendo.
Least the badges are cute
Bad thing you didn’t get that through your head though
You DO realize that’s just the bunny talking through you…right? SNAP OUT of it man! You DON’T have to listen to the bunny!
Holy Hell Nintendo… What have you done… D; God help us.
Just remember Twitchy and the Wolf from Hoodwinked:
“Never trust a bunny!”
We were warned. Now it’s too late. The Bunnypocolypse is upon us. D;
I honestly don’t see the problem. None forces anyone to play this game. I’m normally opposed to this kind of practices, but this is a new, completely irrelevant and isolated game. If it bothers you, you can just pretend it doesn’t exist. As long as this business model doesn’t leak into their core franchises, it’s all good. After all, this is just a way to milk those interested in… well, their 3DS menu. If people want to be stupid with their money and waste 20 units of whatever currency in nothing but digital badges, I say let them. Better have people wasting money on Nintendo, at least.
Yes yes. I understand what you are saying. But that’s just it. The Bunny creeps past your logic sensors. Instead of saying to yourself, “Should I spend $100 on badges?” (and over time, many people will) they are saying, “OMG, this is my only chance to get this pokemon badge!! I HAVE to give $$ to the bunny! It’s JUST 1 more dollar!!
Listen. I’m not saying it’s not fun. I’m not saying people are stupid for playing it. I’m saying Nintendo is a family, kid friendly company that is putting a lot of parents in tight spots… It’s not just the micro-transactions… It’s creating urgency to spend money NOW, making it harder for those who want to play responsibly to do so. It’s low. If they simply removed the “If you don’t spend money on this free-to-play game, you will miss your chance to get these badges.” – com’on… You see my point yeah?
And I see yours. People are free. They don’t HAVE to do it… Just tell me you don’t have pink fur growing out of your hands yet?
What makes you say that when a machine is gone, it stays gone forever? Because as far as I know, they are in rotation.
If the machines are just gone forever, then yeah, I see what you mean. Otherwise…
People just need to be patient and invest their money wisely, that’s all.
and it’s why mobile games make so much money, people have no patience.
Well Nintendo needs to tell us it will come back eventually. Instead, they are keeping quiet about it because they know if they do tell us they’ll come back, we won’t spend any money on the game & just continue to rely on the free plays we get from the Practice Machine. Sure we could be patient but it’s hard to be patient about it if there is no confirmation it will eventually be re-released. Are people so quickly forgetting how shady Nintendo’s been with the amiibo for the last year? This game is doing the same exact bullshit.
That’s the point Jaded is trying to get to.
Oh, and the quality of the animations of the bunny is INSANE.
Fucking tell me about lol
Agreement level maximum. That bunny gives me life.
But they couldn’t include the actual GYM badges. I mean like, I’m a Pokemon master! Give me my GYm badges at the very least.
Oh just wait. This is only the beginning.
Oh don’t worry. I’m sure they’ll get to the Gym Badges eventually. Just a matter of time.
Missed chance at actual Gym badges…..buuuuut I’m still gonna use all of my free plays on this shit.
I only use the free plays I get once a day from the practice catcher.
Stay strong. We can use people like you to begin working on a vaccine for whatever the Bunny is infecting people with!
Yeah, me too. I’m not that invested in Mario/Animal Crossing/Pokémon. I’ll consider spending some bucks if my favorite franchises make an appearance. I’ll have probably played for months without spending a dime when that time comes, so I won’t mind wasting something like five bucks.
I love animal crossing and pokemon and zelda. I dont really care about having splatoon badges on my 3DS. I got a few lame bad guys from mario and zelda and a charmeleon badge. I got all 4 Mario Channel Forwarder Badges for free with my first 5 free plays. I don’t really care though if I miss anything because anything I really want is always hard as hell to get. If I can’t get it for free then I dont want it because you usually have to grab the crappy badges before you can get to the sweet ones.
Pretty much, yeah. I’m thinking about this as Nintendo giving me random free badges. I’ll try to complete some sets if the previous arcades come back at some time in the future, but I don’t think I’ll spend anything unless it’s something I REALLY like.
For people who enjoy this enough to spend money on, good for you. for me i wont spend anything on this game. its really cool dont get me wrong, but its just not enough to get me to spend money on
It’s a disgusting idea for a game. Yet I spend money on it. Herp derp. Nintendo could make me walk on fire. Tho hopefully they wont.
>>>Another useless and pointless game that only the cattle buys, ironically they are the ones often complaining to the empire’s current situation as well, you human cattle never learn and well that’s why you are the cattle to be used for our amusement>>>
If you buy Nintendo products, then I’m afraid you’re cattle as well. Deal with it Quad-core.
>>>A slave like you don’t know the difference in things>>>
It’s free, Comnander. Just like the first heroin shot.
>>>Free or not, still cattle tool>>>
This game came right out of the bowels of Nintendo themselves! It’s not 3rd party, it’s Nintendo. I mean, you already knew that though, yeah?
>>>Of course>>>
It will be interesting to see how a real, Mobile game will use micro-transactions…
>>>As a great veteran warrior, I don’t concern myself with such pathetic Mobile Infantry weaponry>>>
When we take this Nintendo Badge Arcade into account, I expect their use of micro-transactions will be just as horrible as every other mobile “free” to play game with micro-transactions.
