Nintendo Japan has today given us a look at the forthcoming Mario And Sonic at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The footage showcased is taken from the Nintendo 3DS version and looks reasonably impressive. As you would expect there’s plenty of sporting activities on offer including boxing and track and field. Be sure to give it a watch, below.

This series would be SO much more appealing to me if it was “Mario and Link at the Olympics”. I’ve never cared for Sonic games or characers. But having Mario and Zelda characters in this would be EPIC!

Where’s the wii u footage? We’ve seen the arcade version and two 3ds trailers and a little about wii u…..good to know where Nintendo’s focus for all its game lie
Eggman Nega? The Deadly Six? Sticks the Badger? Dry Bowser? It’s like they are literally scraping at the bottom of the barrel for newcomers.
Eggman Nega and Dry Bowser have been appearing in the Olympic Games since 2010 Vancouver winter games, but they were boss encounters.
Making them playable when more suitable characters like Espio, Rosalina, Mephiles, and Kamek would be so much better though, is baffling.
When we finally get a REAL Mario & Sonic crossover and not a thousand Olympic Games, then I’ll be happy to talk about the collaboration between Nintendo’s and Sega’s mascots.
The first two were fine, cool even, but now… this is too much.
This game look pretty good on 3ds, oh man I want to see wiiu version Nintendo is teasing us, I hate when they do that.
