Gunman Clive HD Collection Has Sold 9000 Units On Wii U

The developer behind Gunman Clive HD Collection has revealed on online gaming forum NeoGAF that the indie title has shifted 9000 units so far on Wii U. It wasn’t quite the number that the developer expected, but he says it has been reasonably profitable. However, it has vastly outsold the PC version of Gunman Clive 2, which the developer admits lacked marketing and promotion.

For some slight bit of context Gunman Clive HD Collection has sold about 9000 copies so far (not counting japan, for which I don’t have numbers yet but the initial reports were not very encouraging). Not an amazing number by any means still profitable by most measures: And also I imagine there’s a pretty big overlap of 3DS and WiiU owners so it’s not a big surprise that people aren’t double dipping. It’s about 10x the sales of the Steam release of GC2 however. Admittedly I’ve done an even worse job at promoting that release though and also don’t have many press contacts who focus on PC

  1. The first game was somewhat well made (albeit you could beat it easily in under 30 minutes), but it really belongs on a portable device because of its pick-up and play kind of style.

  2. I got the first one in a humble bundle, it’s ok but I got bored of it quick. The animation style looks really cool with the stereoscopic 3D. I own a lot of “nindie” titles, I think shovel knight and runbow are the best ones.
