WSJ: Nintendo Says NX Update “Not Too Late In The Course Of This Year”

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has reconfirmed that the Nintendo NX announcement won’t be showcased too late in the course of this year. So of course E3 which takes place in Los Angeles in June could make perfect sense for the unveiling.

Analysts have been watching for indications of how Nintendo’s mobile game will interact with a next-generation system that Nintendo has under development, code-named NX.

Mr. Kimishima said Tuesday that the company will provide an update “not too late in the course of this year.”

          1. Nope I’m giving my opinion which is fact based on how Nintendo is doing regarding to its competitors and they are obviously not doing good which is why the no better be at least on the level of the ps4 and zone in at least a few ways because it is impossible for Nintendo to try to compete with them in their categories because they have already in a way perfected their craft and even if Nintendo got the best people in the gaming industry or in their categories for whatever Nintendo needs help in it would take forever and there is always the possibility they still wouldn’t be as good but I will get a nx but only for the games in the genres I like which wouldn’t be a lot on a Nintendo console and nice assumption you ignorant child who needs to stop being a drone

  1. I hope they show something of It before E3, around March or April, and then just do a big blowout at E3, with a launch date of November 2016. That would be nice.

    1. Agreed. I really want to see what Nintendo is planning. Of course, if Nintendo decides to wait until e3 to reveal the NX they’ll garner much more attention and press which is what they desperately need.

Yeah! Nobody even knew it was out. I just saw it in stores one day. Horrible. It’s like Nintendo new it was a failure as soon as it was released.

    2. I still think the “NX handheld in 2016, NX home console in 2017” is the most plausible “theory”/rumor I’ve heard. I don’t think the NX will release along with Zelda U this holiday (though, at the same time, Nintendo doesn’t have any games ready for next year, so maybe it’s plausible. Then Zelda will most likely be ported to the NX. I really just want some new information as of now…)

      1. What about Zelda Wii U also on the NX portable in this scenario? Or Wii U games playable on the NX portable? Keeps those games selling and bridges the gap in such a way that Wii U owners don’t feel slighted.

          1. No way to say that is true. I am just offering an idea, but if a new system is to be a combo home and hand held console, there is the possibility they could make it happen

            1. Lots of ways, actually. Battery life being the most obvious one, then the exuberant costs of manufacturing a powerful enough portable for that. A true hybrid isn’t happening for those same reasons, too. I have the theory that the new Smash title by Namco is probably a port made for the portable NX, but using the 3DS version as a basis.

    3. Yeah I agree. At first I was saying that Nintendo should wait until next year to release the NX home console but with only 6 games announced for the Wii U for the remainder of the year I kinda don’t really see that happening but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility for the system to launch in 2017 either. I think at least showing the system off to the public a few months before E3 would create an even bigger buzz for the NX so that way, at E3, Nintendo can just focus on the software, online details and more features. I hope Nintendo strikes gold with the NX

      1. So games like Lost revers, Mighty No 9, Yooka Laylee, odd world, lego games, and other 3rd party games. Yes, only 6 announced games. That could be it or they may have some smaller games they need to announce. The financial report is a snapshot of the last quarter and the next quarter.

          1. Games are games. They increase value of the system. Eshop games count as releases. They are third party games that can be played on the system. Some of those eshop games make it to retail example shovel knight and giant sisters.

              1. You are right. There are people that buy systems to play what they like and those eshop games can convince someone to pick up a system. In my tiny corner of life, it is not the big known games but the eshop games that I own that has really caused my nephews to want a Wii U now. They see me play them and they immediately go to their dad and ask them to buy them one everytime. But one I mean it would be two because they don’t share. One has a PS4 but that’s the play online with friends console. I’ve told them they on the PS4 too but they just like playing on the gamepad better. Weird but point is any game or collection of games can cause someone to buy a system. You are right in that would be a small amount of people.

      2. So they are gonna reveal the NX at E-3? Well I guess that’s OK if Nintendo make it though this year and save there monthly budget this year for there last quarter.

    {{ I’m so hyped! They better release something soon cuz I am jones’n for some Nintendo awesomeness! I just can’t wait to play a proper 3D Mario game like 64 or Galaxy }}

Sure they’re different yes. I got a sweeping epic feel from playing Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. I can’t help but think there was something missing while I played 3-D World.
It didn’t feel as awesome. And sure didn’t take me nearly as long to complete.

What I mean is, I don’t care much for 3-D World. 64 and Galaxy I feel are better though 3-D World was entertaining I just didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as previous generation Mario games.

  3. So they are gonna reveal the NX at E-3? Well I guess that’s OK if Nintendo make it though this year and save there monthly budget this year for there last quarter.
