One thing that Fire Emblem fans were a little miffed about was the reported removal of the petting mini game in Fire Emblem: Fates. Despite previous reports the “skinship” encounters in Fire Emblem Fates have not been removed for the English version. They’ve just been changed and adjusted. You can see how they work in the video embedded, below.
Thanks, Retrogaminglord and RidleySlayer
I KNEW Kotaku was full of crap!!! I’m SO glad they kept this in… Mainly because I’m gonna need it when I play Conquest in its highest difficulty.
It still kinda feels like an insult to the older fans when Nintendo dumbs stuff down as if we can’t handle it despite the T rating, but my main concern was the support features, so I’m extremely relieved that they kept skinship.
Well, so much for that big fuss.
This is why you wait to hear OFFICIAL and RELIABLE info, people!
Which means don’t use Kotaku as a source.
So the mechanic is still in there. Good. It’s just that now you’re talking to the person like a human being would, rather than petting them like a dog, or feeling their face like a blind man, or generally acting like Lennie from ‘Of Mice and Men’.
P.S. I’m half joking here. I know there’s a difference in Japanese and western culture and that petting is more common in Japan, but…
…well, whatever.
Well, I guess it’s better than completely ditching the feature.
Still kind of stupid that a change was needed, but changing the settings on a New TV is better than throwing it out the window I guess
I much prefer it this way than the weird jap version.
Kotaku was right, and Nintendo just put half of it back in after the backlash…lol oh Nintendo.
I just want a European release date… It’s soon unbearable…

~*It’s still half a feature so you will still be paying full price for a game with a missing mechanic. BUT least the rewards for using the “feature” are still intact. I still don’t see why some people saw it as creepy. I feel bad for your loved ones. Probably don’t pet their head or hug them or kiss them or, in the case of that special someone, do foreplay with. Meh.*~
