Check Out The New Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Kickstarter Update

The team at WayForward have published a new Kickstarter update for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. It started off by announcing that the final Half-Genie Hero backer enemy milestone has been reached. The enemy was created by a fan and was named Tuki.

The developers proceeded to talk about the game’s current status. WayForward explained that their current goal is Pre-Alpha. They consider this when the player can experience the game from beginning to end with a few temporary objects being placed here and there. Two chapters and some rough spots are still being worked on, so the game is still roughly two months from reaching this phase. After some further fine-tuning, the game will reach Alpha. Some polishing will follow before the game reaches Beta and then the First Party Submission phase.

The update wasn’t all about Half-Hero Genie. WayForward went on to announce that the Wii U version of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Director’s Cut is “moving into submissions at Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe”. The Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse are in the final stretch and are expected to reach North America and Europe “sometime in March”. They didn’t give an exact release date, but the window of “late March to early April” was tossed around.

    1. And then he realized the comment thread for this post wasn’t nearly as popular as he thought it was going to be, which made his strange, desperate post, indeed very irrelevant.

  1. This game is going to be so good… I can’t wait to see what Wayforward has in store after this. Hopefully, it can get released before next year. Indies are looking good this year. Others I want include No Man’s Sky and A Hat in Time!

  2. How and why does Nintendo allow this kind of thing on their consoles? We’ve had a couple of wins in the name of common fucking decency lately but then this game comes and undoes all of it. It’s bad enough that this kind of creepy content is allowed in the original Japanese versions, but I thought we as a people grew out of this crap YEARS ago. Apparently some folks at Nintendo still have children in mind for their audience, while real Nintendo fans are forced to put up with these sexist fantasies plastered all over our news sites. I can’t wait for this crap to come out just so the “hype” blows over and everyone forgets about it and I don’t have to look at it anymore.

PS: Reptiles don’t have breasts you gross idiots. Bad enough that every single female in the splash art is sexualized but could you at least leave the animals out of it? THANKS.
