Nintendo 3DS System Update Available

A new software update is available for Nintendo 3DS owners, but before you get too excited you should be made aware that there’s no new features this time around. The official site says it is simply a stability update with no new additional functionality.

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

  1. TO ANYONE WHO OWNS A NEW 3DS XL: Is the New 3DS XL really worth buying? I mean, is it really different enough from the original 3DS XL to warrant a purchase? I never had much interest in buying one because I couldn’t really see much difference from the regular 3DS XL.

      1. For the above stated reasons sure, for new game’s built for the system probably not. I personally feel the 3ds runs absolutely fine and see no reason to drop 200$ on a “newer” one. Even packed with 30+ games, my 3DS runs like a beast and I love it.

      2. I was actually wondering the same thing about the New 3DS. I didn’t think I’d care about the Amiibo one, but I have a Roy Amiibo coming and wanna use it in FE Fates :p I wouldn’t trade in or sell my current 3DS because it’s a special edition one, so I’ve been on the fence about a new one for a while XD

    1. Is it better? Yes. Is it worth it? Depends.

Do you have a fully functional 3ds and don’t want anything more, if so there is no need to pick it up. If you play monster hunter and smash a lot and would like a passable c stick the new 3ds has one. (the psp stick mod makes it feel a little better). Xenoblade 3d is exclusive to it so if you want to run that game then you need a new 3ds.

Noticable improvements- “The nub” and extra buttons work like a built-in circle pad pro/cstick for smash and monster hunter enthusiasts. Certain games load/open faster such as smash. The 3d works a little better since it tracks your face and adjust the angle for a better experience. The regular ones have faceplates which can be cool if you like the idea of a special edition 3ds but don’t want to buy a new one ever 3 months.

I upgraded because I wanted a special edition 3dsxl and I wanted to play monster hunter 4 ultimate. I sold my old one to get it though so I spent about 60 bucks.

    2. i own one its really nice come pare to the original 3ds xl. every thing is little bigger on the ds. the screen and the buttons are a nice touch. its a little expensive but i got mine for Xmas last year. i would get it plus never had any problems with.

  2. Oh thank god! I was balancing my 3DS on some books today and it toppled over! Thankfully this update has fixed that.
