Pokken Tournament Deals Out Consequences When Online Players Rage Quit

Bandai Namco’s Tekken-infused Pokkén Tournament has released today – and with it comes news of consequences to those who play online and rage quit. It’s a feature that many honest players will be fond of, though perhaps not for those who sit in the rage quitting band camp. The fighting game’s advisor Nia reminds all players on their first foray into online battle that there will be consequences if you exit a battle before its completion. You’ll be docked Poké gold – the in-game currency – and be unable to buy that really fancy scarf or outfit you had your eye on.

So if you were worried about your opponent player rage quitting in battle, hopefully this added feature will discourage them to do so. Pokkén Tournament is available now for the Wii U – make sure to read our review of the game if you’re still on the fence, or perhaps play the European eShop demo.

  1. Once you have bought everything in the game, you don’t need Poke Gold anymore, what if your at 0 Poke Gold and you quit? lol. Let people quit if they want. They bought the game, they can do what they want.

      1. I don’t really do much online gaming period. Mario Kart 8 was about it. Splatoon sometimes, but it’s gotten to boring. I don’t really quit, I’m more of the guy who when it’s online teams like back on Halo Reach likes to fuck around and jump off the map to screw over our team, lol.

      2. i dont even have a copy of pokken tournament and i dont rage quit, if i lose then i lose and i know how skilled i am which is im not very good at fighting games but i do have fun with them.

    1. I like the idea of having punishment for quitting. I cannot stand someone quitting an online match whether it be Smash, MK, Destiny,.. whatever. It pisses me off to no end. I say the punishment should be more severe honestly….

      1. Not really. You can blame Nintendo, too, for having crappy online that doesn’t account for people with crappy internet. So the blame goes both ways.

        1. That’s damage control, King. Don’t blame Nintendo just because the LAN is sold separately for Wii U. You should have gotten a faster, more reliable Broadband Internet access.

          1. Okay, bub. Nintendo never does anything wrong. They are perfect. It’s never, ever their fault when something of theirs fails but it’s someone else’s doing. It’s Sony’s fault the Wii U is getting it’s ass whooped by the PS4. Is that what you want to hear? Fanboy logic? Sorry, but Nintendo isn’t perfect. They do do stuff wrong, like Metroid Chibi: Federation shitForce. It is their fault most of the time when they fail. Sony might be partly to blame for the Wii U losing to the PS4 but that’s because Nintendo failed somewhere in pre-development, didn’t fix it in post development, & massively failed with marketing for many of their games & didn’t get it right til Splatoon. Sadly, Splatoon is as far as they have been highly successful with marketing. Maybe they’ll fix that with Pokken Tournament, Star Fox Zero, & Zelda U, but at this rate, it might be too late now. Anyway, this is why Quadraxis is the Commander & not you. Least he doesn’t sugar coat everything Nintendo does wrong.

              1. Salty or not, it was the truth. Nintendo fucked up & the Wii U was a failure because of it. So you laugh all you want, anon. It doesn’t change a damn thing.

              2. Anyway, thank you for following me. Like I said to the other anon, unless you are the same one, I could use as many haters as possible so I can beat Quadraxis’ following of haters.

  2. I’m still at work and haven’t had the chance to play it yet (obviously). Does it have dedicated servers like Splatoon, or does it fuck up like Smash did and use P2P?

    -||Good, the weak must make way for the strongest so that we can combat the Xbot infection at 350% capacity||-

      1. I don’t think it’s necessarily a question of their server security and stability, but maybe more about the question if capable people even target Nintendo to begin with.

        1. They’ve been hacked before, but the hackers only did it to help Nintendo (“they created the best console, the N64” their words, not mine) This isnt that long ago too, but as you said, its not because they can’t get hacked, hackers just choose not to do I’ll will to them.

          Hell, the last time Live was down (periodically for that week) was because that set of hackers wanted “an actual challenge.” At least thats what they said lol.

    1. Exactly I get booted 95 or more percent of the time when I’m online with x and if the nx is at ps4 level or higher it will be disastrous that is too much of a leap for Nintendo since they are so cheap and are always lagging behind they are utter burning shit in a bag

      1. To be fair, PSN isn’t that great either. It still relies heavily on P2P connections. After this generation’s mandatory plus subscription, I thought PSN was going to drastically improve but its been minor at most.

        1. It is much better then nintendos online that is absolute but i dont really play online anyway so dont care and so you have to pay for a superior service deal with it kid and nintendo need to stop being shit and get with the times ye old bastards

          1. Oh I do pay for the superior service (live) and its been about a year that I stopped paying for Plus. I Still use PSN and its not as bad a Nintendos online service but its definitely not the service that Nintendo should be aiming for.

  4. I don’t like this at all. Some people genuinely have anger issues, and forcing them to continue something that is making them extremely angry is very unhealthy mentally and physically. Imho, rather than punishing players who quit the battle early, the remaining player should be compensated.

    It’s always healthier to take a break from a game when it’s making you that angry.

        1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

          -||But they have time for games and buying them||-

          -||And it was merely a suggestion, but knowing how most of you humans rather live and ignore your problems then they will still be a hazard for everyone else and themselves||-

          1. Would you rather spend your free time and money in a therapy session, or would you rather be playing games? And just because a person has anger doesn’t mean that they’re a hazard. Many people are able to manage their anger, but that doesn’t make it any healthier for them to force themselves to rage like that.

            1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

              -||If I was human I would correct my anger issues before they become worse||-

              -||Anger issues always get worse sooner or later and they will be a hazard for everyone around them as their level of rage increases||-

              -||And you were talking about those humans that cannot control their anger because it’s an issue, ergo rage and wrath over something so simple which leads to my undeniable logic||-

              1. For a “computer”, you certainly think that you know a lot about anger. Anger issues do not necessarily get worse, and they can, in fact, be managed, and no, I was not talking about people who can’t control their anger. Quitting a game when it’s making you angry is a very effective and logical method of controlling anger, and just because they’re going to be punished in the game doesn’t mean that they aren’t still going to quit in order to manage that anger. The point is that, in my opinion, they shouldn’t be punished. On another note, someone needs to reprogram your grammar.

                1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

                  -||Whatever my grammar has to do with anything considering I’m glitched at the moment because of the FF virus that infects my system||-

                      1. Let me fix that for you. Chibi Metroid: Federation shitForce, aka CM:FsF. Much better.

                      2. I’m trying (with great difficulty) not to judge the game until I’ve seen gameplay of the final version, but I am very disappointed to not be getting a real Metroid Prime. Man, that trailer was one of the biggest let-downs of the year.

      1. I agree that it’s always healthier to take a break, but does that break have to be in the middle of a match? I mean it’s not monopoly, the game is going to take 2-3 minutes tops. Before proceeding to take on another challenger, you would think you’d know if the game was making you mad already.

        I’m not one with anger issues so I wouldn’t know, but I still feel it’s unfair for those on the opposite end.

    1. if the online is as garbage a ssb wiiu than they deserve the rage!!! people should not buy the game so nintendo will learn!!! dont post but i play ssb wo lag!!! BS. i’m running at 60 mps and the lag is terrible. only game that lags out of all my games!!!tried everything absolute garbage

    2. I’ve lost count of how much poke gold I’ve lost because Nitnendo’s servers are ass and DC me all the time. I’ve been DCd so many times even after already winning a match, then it’s counted as a loss and I lose poke gold and my win/loss ratio goes to shit. I’t not on my end either, I can stay connected at all times in Hitman 2016, but with anything Nintendo I get thrown off the servers afte 10 minutes. At least smash fixed it so that you didn’t get penalized if servers kicked you.

    3. “and be unable to buy that really fancy scarf or outfit you had your eye on.” Wait! Is this punishment permanent or time sensitive!? If it’s permanent, that’s bullshit really. What if someone gets disconnected because of Nintendo’s shitty online structure? Oh right. I forgot what I classify as Nintendo’s true slogan this gen: Fuck U!

      I agree with one comment on here. Instead of punishing the guilty, reward the victim. Let’s face it. Punishment has NEVER been a deterrent. Has the death penalty stopped murderers & rapists? No. Did cutting off a thief’s hands in the dark ages stop thievery? No. Does perma-ban stop trolls & those that draw penises in Miiverse from coming back with a new account or even hacking their system’s IP? No. The truly bad people don’t stop breaking the rules just because there is some consequence for their actions. If anything, it just makes many criminals even worse because nothing pisses some people off more than being told what to do & what not to do.

      1. Whatever. I canceled my preorder anyway & won’t be getting this game til it gets a price drop. Lack of story has always been my weak point when it comes to a video game.

        1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

          -||It’s a fighting game, why do you need a story?||-

          -||Just look at MKX, such an awful story and pathetic laughable dialogues||-

          1. Because I’m one of those gamers where story, gameplay, & visual quality are equal & none can be half assed. If even one is lacking, I just can’t get into it. So I’ll wait for the inevitable price drop so I don’t waste 60 bucks on a game I know for a fact I won’t be able to play for more than a week without getting bored. I did that with Smash 4 Wii U. I can’t do it again.

            1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

              -||Yes but story is not important in fighting games, and I ‘d rather have more characters, stages and customisation options since you only end up playing online anyway in such games||-

          2. Especially now. I can’t just throw away 60 bucks in the hopes I’ll enjoy the game for many weeks and months after, anymore. It’s time I be more of an adult & start saving up money for more important things like college fund for my kid, a nice house or car, etc etc.

            1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

              -||Yes, difficult times for most of us whether it’s in this realm or the other||-

              -||Just don’t buy your child anything made by Xbots||-
