SEGA Is Hosting Another Sonic 25th Anniversary Event On July 22nd

SEGA has confirmed that there will be another Sonic 25th Anniversary Event on July 22nd where they will presumably showcase a new Sonic game. We thought we might catch a glimpse of the game during Sonic’s 25th Anniversary Panel at SXSW which is currently taking place, but alas no, we shall have to wait a little bit longer.

  1. These stupid little teases about Sega’s 25th celebration are getting annoying. Segac is not in a position to be playing cute. Most gamers don’t take them serious anymore, since they have released blunder after blunder. Unless this is a highly requested game, just spill the damn beans Sega. You’re irrelevant as it is. If this announcement ends up being something stupid, it is going to backfire so hard after all these dumb tweets and crap. Don’t bite off more than you can chew Sega.

    1. I was actually going to comment something like that. For a long while, so many news articles have been posted about “teasing a new Sonic game”, and no new Sonic game arises, which is getting annoying, I agree. Sometimes I do wonder if they are trying to piss off fans. After the disastrous results of Sonic Boom, it is only logical that they get serious and worried about how to make the next game a success. Messing with a fan’s excitement ( those left who still have faith in Sega) is not the way to go.

      1. Absolutely. And this nonsense is so coming after one of their new people a few months ago said they knew they had made mistakes and were going to try to get gamers back. Thus far, not a good start.

        1. It’s all about talk followed by disastrous actions with them. They announced Sonic Boom as this amazing open world game, a fresh new Sonic game (personally didn’t really buy into it anyway). They should get off their obsession with Twitter, and be quiet with their tweets that are making things even worse. They should stop talk garbage, and listen to what the old fans are saying.

    2. I agree this is getting annoying.

This is probably the 5th time this year Sega goes “Hey guess what we’re doing for celebrating 25 years?”

      “I don’t know SEGA, what?”

“JUST KIDDING, we hired some new interns! That’s cool, huh?”

“Jesus Christ SEGA I could care less”

“GUESS WHAT? -shows a big 25 and silhouette of sonic”

      “-sigh, what SEGA?”

“3DS CLASSIC COLLECTIONS FINALLY COMING TO THE THREE DEE ESS!!!!!”

…You mean that 2 year old game that’s been released in Japan already? …

You’re right. Sega is in no position to be “cute” and dance around this. They’ve already lost my interest.

Chances are all it’ll be is their announcement to completely halt video game production, and move their entire focus on mobile game.

Those who filled out SEGA’s “Please tell us what you want” form, should know that Sega seems to have a hard-on for mobile games now and we should all be ready for them to just say “f–k all of you, we’re going mobile now”

    1. If you filled out their SEGA “Please tell us what you want from us” form, there were entire pages just covered with mobile gaming

“How often do you find yourself playing mobile games?” Never.

“Would you find yourself playing a SEGA mobile app?” Uh, how about no?

“Now please list which SEGA franchises YOU’D like to play on your phone” -clicks out of webpage-

      1. Yeah I suggested bring back Phantasy Star online because they don’t have shit going for them. I’m honestly surprised they manage to stay semi relevant. Coming from someone who used to game the shit outta a Sega Genesis.

          1. See I never did own the Dreamcast but it had a lot of potential, I could never get passed that controller. Some sort of space flight steering wheel. : P.

So you never owned a N64?!?

      1. Yeah meh, what’s sad is that I feel they have potential that is just wasted, like all the magic is gone and all the fire ran out of them. Great name, not so great practice. I thought they would turn Nights into something gnarly as hell, never happened. I at least thought Sonic and Knuckles would be the next hot version of Mario and Luigi, didn’t happen. At least not to the level of their popularity.

  3. Inb4 more Sonic Bum garbage. I would be pleasantly surprised if we get a reveal on a new non-spinoff MODERN Sonic game for this year.

  4. I agree with others. Unless this is going to be a game that has been highly asked for, they are just going to piss people off with all of these teases. Like Sakurai when he would tease the size of characters in a number of his Smash dev posts years ago knowing full well there were many people asking for a playable Ridley. I mean, how big of an ass can some of these devs actually get!? “I got something big planned as the final DLC character! It was hard to do but I finally managed to make it work!” If you thought he was talking about a playable Ridley because he once mentioned how it was going to be hard to make Ridley function in Smash, wrong! It either turned out to be Bayonetta and/or Cloud. “You want a 1st party character like Ridley, Wolf, Sylux, or Dark Samus? Here’s Bayonetta & Cloud instead! I’m kidding so don’t worry! Here’s Corrin from Fire Emblem too so you can’t whine about how I didn’t give you a 1st party character!” If that was his thinking, hah! Part of the Smash fanbase sure did blast him a new one.
